Thats a nice kit bucky. The detail looks great. You're going to need to retire to build that one I had a bunch of build photos on my cell phone. But the damn thing busted and I couldnt retrieve any photos :angry2: I dont have any inflight vids. I could make one though. Havnt been flying yet this season. Mostly baby sitting

I just posted two more downloads. But when finished I was directed to CombatAces' home page rather than remaining on the download page. Thats new. So I was wondering if the new downloads took.

Now pronlem. Thanks

Keeping the pilot from disappearing when shot.........

Nobody likes blood and guts i guess -
Well I made them (Jasta 34b) like this. The stock aircraft use random personal markings and have olive cowls. Look good enough I guess.
-
Jasta 5 Dr.1's were definitely a mix of different Jastas. Red cowels and green tails are the way to go I guess. As far as Jasta 4 Dr.1's, Udet used Kirchsteins old Dr.1 from Jasta 6 and it seemed to retain its color scheme. But other jasta 4 Dr.1's indeed had a Pale blue cowel, wheels discs, wing struts, and possibly tail. But in most photos I've seen of Jasta 4 Dr.1's the fuselage appears to be a darker color. Not the streaky green. Are there any reports of Jasta 4 Dr.1's having painted their fuselages? Maybe a brown or solid olive?? Another question (If anyone knows), Jasta 34b had silver grey tails. How much of the fuselage did the silver cover? To the cockpit or just to the fuse side cross fields? And was there a standard cowel color? Below are my skins of Obltn. Robert Greim and Vzfw. Johann Putz of Jasta 34b. I know personal markings were colored fuse bands and then carried to the cowels. But was there a jasta color? Also included w the 34b skin screenshot is a generic 34b Dr.1 w the "spade" random personal marking.
-
Sounds good to me. I would really appreciate it. I'm curious to know what they looked like.
-
Thanks again Bucky. I'm trying to get them all. Jasta 4 had some too. But the colors are so speculative. So I'm not so sure yet how to go about doing those. But I will get to Greim and Putz of Jasta 34b and Bongartz of Jasta 36. But I dont think I know any of Jasta 32.

Keeping the pilot from disappearing when shot.........
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Ok, I need to bring this up again. I've added a little effect to my Pfalz DIII "Holes" TGA file. Since a damaged pilot cant be created (as far as I know). I've added a little gore to my damaged plane. A little exagerated so you can see the before and after. It appears when the top fuselage is hit. The second picture shows my pilot burning alive! So why would a damaged or dead pilot be too violent? I think burning alive is a little worse. Hmmmmm. If a "Holes" or "Damaged" TGA file could be made for the pilots that would activate when the pilot is hit, thatwould be awsome. -
Here are 4 Jasta 15 Fokker Dr.1's I'll post. 1. Ltn. Bergner (white fuselage band) 2. Claus von Waldo ("N" fuselage marking) 3. Ltn. Hans Muller (Blk & Whit fuse band and tail) 4. German Jasta 15 (plain w tail outlined in blue-green) The German Jasta 15 is a generic skin to create more Jasta 15 Dr.1's It will be the same as the stock Jasta aircraft. It will use the same stock random personal markings. Personally I remove mine because of so many Dr.1 personal skins that have been made. But thats just me . Not all Dr.1's had personal markings. I still need to do some work on Mullers fuse band. I'll post them soon.

Got it

That makes sense  I'll try it. But how do Vogesen and Flanders airfields function if this config file is not in their folders? Obviously they do work but how? Not that its important but I'm just curious.
-
Yeah it works. Thanks. But the Vogesen terrain and Flanders dont have a "WWI_airfield1" Config File in them. I think they use the ones from Cambria and Verdun no? So how do I change their airfield landing positions? But for those who want to change where the planes land in the Cambria and Verdun terrains, so they dont land at end of runway or into the trees, change this: 1. Open the Cambria and Verdun Terain folders then open the "WWI_AIRFIELD1" configuration files. 2. Change the "TouchDown" level [Runway001] Heading=0 Offset=0,0 Length=480 Width=280 LaunchAll=TRUE TouchDown=0,200 <---------Change the 200. Anywhere from 0-50 is good. close to center. Thanks Tailspin.

I was wondering if the Skin Download section could be changed to look like the Flight Model download section. For instance, selecting from a list of aircraft rather than searching through the whole lot looking for a particular skin. Click on Skins Download section, then click Fokker Dr.1's or Albatros's, Camels, etc. then select a skin for that plane. I only ask this because I would like to make a lot more skins from the stock models. It would be easier to find them in their own catagories rather than scrolling through 30 or so pages. I know it's a lot of work for you guys, I do. But in the long run ( I hope there is a long run ) It would make it easier for people to find a particular skin. I dont want to be the new guy telling people what to do but It would be more user friendly considering the amount of downloadable skins If I may add this is a great site. Everybody here is very helpful and quick to answer any question about First Eagles. And I'm not just saying that to kiss A@#

I thought I'd try again. I and others have made soo many skins its hard to find a particular skin or plane with a particular skin. The "Skin Download" section needs to be like the "Add-on Aircraft" section. First a list of planes than the different skins for that particular plane. I know its not easy to do. But the more skins that are done the harder its going to be to to search through. Just trying again. Please dont take this the wrong way (all you guys in charge), Just want it to be easier and more organized for everyone else. I've noticed a lot of new players.

Thanks Tailspin. I'll try it out later.

As you can see from my download screen shots, my general environment is kind of on the dark side. Even at mid-day with clear weather everything seems way too dark. Where do I change this? How do I just lighten things up a bit?
-
Nevermind. I think I got it. In the Flight folder, I made the following change to my EnvironmentSystems Config file: [Day] SunHeight=0.240 SunBrightness=1.50 SunLightLevel=1.80 <----------- here I changed it from 0.90 SunRadiance=0.0 TwilightLensFlare=0.0 SunColor=0.595,0.600,0.578 AmbientColor=0.300,0.300,0.335 SkyColor=0.376,0.564,0.815 HorizonColor=0.811,0.815,0.937 FogColor=0.564,0.627,0.805 SunSpecularColor=0.81,0.762,0.740 I first made it 2.00 but made the reflections on the planes a little too much. They looked nice and glossy though. Hmmmm.

Yeah, I just got a message about that. They seem to be doing some work to their site or server. Should be ok to download in a couple of days I think.

Hey bucky and everyone else. I finally put up those Naval 1 Sopwith Triplanes. Wasnt too sure of colors so I made two versions. 1. All PC10 with random #'s and serials 2. Fuselage and wings in PC10 but with white wheel discs and tail fin. They are both historically accurate, so if you mix them up in a flight it looks good. Enjoy 'em

File Name: Jasta 26 5 pack File Submitter: quack74 File Submitted: 9 May 2009 File Category: WW1 Aircraft This is a Pack of 5 Fokker Dr.1's of Jasta 26. 1. Ltn. Fritz Loerzer (upper wing leading edge and center black) 2. Vzfw. Otto Esswein - Dr.1 426/17 (an "E" on Fuselage and upper wing center). 3. An "x" marking on fusalage as well as on upper wing center. Pilot and serial unknown. 4. A 3-point "star" shape on fusalage and possible on upper wing center section. Pilot and serial not known. 5. This Dr.1 "yellow stripe" appears in a photo of a Jasta 26 line up. It seems to have 2 colored bands around fusalage (Yellow?). And is said to have a "5" on the upper wing center section as well. Again pilot and serial are not known.I cant make out the "5" in the photo so mine is just a guess. **J26 Esswein and J26 x were posted already in the CombatAce download section** I just included them to make it easier to keep them all together. I did add Their personal markings to the upper wing center sections though. Enjoy, quack74 Click here to download this file
