Elements of CVW5 begin a series of probes of Chinese activity in the South China Sea... Running in low and fast, the plan is to get some good imagery of each island and then egress before the Chinese can react... But you know what they say about the best laid plans.... The response is swift and accurate... The flight regroups and heads for home... Is this going to escalate further???

Tornado F.3s launch for their turn in the Mach Loop... The object of the exercise is to prove that they are just at home at low level as at high altitude... It; It's a real treat for the plane spotters picnicking on the hills.... For the student out of RAF Valley who happened to be flying the wrong way down a valley, not so much... Oh sh... He climbs to altitude and heads back to base for a stiff drink and a change of underwear! And the Tornadoes are back on the deck and heading for their next waypoint...
