  1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-12106753 RIP to a fine actor who may, or may not, have been Keyser Soze.
  2. So I've made a Wings Over Afghanistan install (number 32, but who's counting :wink2: ). Great work by Gepard and Eric on this terrain. Got Soviet and Western aircraft and ground objects, with the Soviet stuff having an end year of 1989 and the NATO stuff starting in 2001. I've beefed up the Afghan air defences from 2001 onwards to include some more SAM and AAA types (there's a lot of ZSU 23-4s now!)on the basis that they may have been supplied to the Taliban via the 'Stans to the north or the usual suspects in Iran - it makes life a lot more interesting as the missions are exclusively A2G. Anyway, what I need now is an icon for my desktop - anyone using anything nice for their intalls, if they have one? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks Eric. I converted the ISAF flag to an icon.
  4. File Name: A-6A Intruder - 'Flight of the Intruder' Special Edition File Submitter: allenjb42 File Submitted: 23 Jul 2007 File Category: A-6 A-6A Intruder, 'Flight of the Intruder' Special Edition Readme This is a modification of the A-6A Intruder by Monty CZ/Column5, released to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the publication of the novel 'Flight of the Intruder' by Stephen Coonts. Ensure you have the weapons pack installed. Instalation: 1) Extract A-6A FOTI file into Objects/Aircraft 2) Optional: Extract Menu file to your main SF/WOV/WOE folder 2) Go fly and blow things up! Contributors: External model of plane by Monty CZ Flight model by Column5, modded by gbreuder and allenjb42 Damage model by Monty CZ/Column5 Loadouts modded by allenjb42 to try to reflect the loadouts mentioned in the book for the various missions depicted. Skins for Devil 505 and VA196 by gbreuder, based on work by pappychecksix Hangar screen by Wrench, modded by allenjb42 Loading screen - 'Going In Hot' by William S Phillips, depicting 'Flight of the Intruder' author Stephen Coonts in action over Vietnam. Menu music - samples from the 'Flight of the Intruder' movie soundtrack by Basil Poledouris Thanks to all of those listed above - they did all the hard work and gave their permissions for release, I just packaged it all together - to Stephen Coonts and of course to TK for creating these great games for us to tinker with. The Devil 505 skin represents the A-6A flown by Jake Grafton and Morgan McPherson in the book and movie 'Flight of the Intruder' by Stephen Coonts, who really did fly with VA196 over Vietnam. Although Morg gets killed in the first chapter of the book (and after about five minutes of the movie), he and Jake had flown together for two years prior to that point, so you can use the skin to recreate some of their adventures before Morg's untimely death. Besides, you can use the A-6B to fly with Tiger Cole! Unfortunately there is no publicly available Morgan Mcpherson pilot model at this time, so if someone would be kind enough to make and release one I would be only too pleased to include it in an update. In view of this, the data.ini is set up to use the Jake Grafton pilot available at Wrench's site at http://wrench1smog.com as the pilot, and the default PILOT as the B/N. This plane is compatible with all of the A-6 skins currently available. You'll just need to go into the decal.ini file within the skin folder and edit it so that all references to the original A-6 model the skin was made for are changed to A-6A FOTI. Check out the skin folders within this download for an example. Have fun, and good hunting! 5. Not as such, but if you download the excellent SF2:V Air & Ground Expansion Pack there are flyable A-6s included, and you should be able to convert the FOTI A-6 to make it flyable in SF2.
  6. FAA Malvinas pilots i need pics

http://military-machine.blogspot.com/2009/04/battle-for-falklands-3-air-forces.html Some good pics and profiles in this book.
  7. FAA Malvinas pilots i need pics

Looks like mustaches are standard loadout for these pilots!
  8. Birthdays

    Many happy returns guys!
  9. UK Harriers retired

If they're going cheap maybe we could buy some, build a hangar in the basement of the Combatace Tower and a lift to the helipad on the roof?
  10. Leslie Nielsen Dies

Very sad news. I suppose he ate the fish.
  11. Only four? http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/h/richard-herman/ Anyone read the new one? I've only just noticed it was published this year. Kevin, in Warbirds there's a mention of stealth recon planes operating out of a remote desert in Saudi's 'empty quarter'. Perhaps a cameo appearance by the F-19 in the campaign would be in order? And then we can relive the old Microprose stealth missions against Iran too
  12. A new player for my Wings Over Timor install (amongst others). Thanks for the great job Eric.
  13. Happy Birthday Dagger!

    Many happy returns!
  14. Yes I've read that passage many times, but in that case wouldn't the F-20s have been painted in desert camo like the F-5s? http://combatace.com/files/file/2805-sauditigerzip/ Also on the web I found a modeller's attempt to make a Tiger Force F-20 and he says he actually corresponded with Barrett Tillman, who said that he envisaged the F-20s to be wearing the same colours as the Saudi F-5: It was my intent to do this particular plane as a member of the fictional Tiger Force, but there was one slight problem—I didn’t know what the paint scheme was. The book’s interior painting was not much help as the artist drew up the F-20 in the prototype color of BMW metallic grey. I spent an evening flipping thru the novel to find marking information, but I couldn’t find any. Out of desperation, I emailed the author, Barrett Tillman, and got a quick reply. Mr Tillman explained to me that he saw the F-20s using the same paint scheme as Saudi Arabia’s F-5E Tigers. http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/mod/us/leef20.htm Having said all that, for the reasons in my post above, I still think that they should be grey! @Riley64, have you read any of Richard Herman's novels, starting with 'The Warbirds'? IMHO they're tailor made for campaigns in the Thirdwire sims.

  16. Did someone mention Warriors? F-20 Tigershark, Black Squadron, Tiger Force, RSAF Combat over the Red Sea against Israeli F-15s & F-16s The skin is just a re-decalling of one of Gepard's skins that came with the plane. I figured that as Tiger Force were primarily an air to air unit they would wear grey like the Saudi F-15s and Tornado F-3s rather than desert camo like their F-5s and attack Tornado GR.1s. Also, it doesn't say anywhere in the book what colours they wear - and I've spent the last week re-reading my copy to check!
  17. Happy Birthday Sundowner!

    Many happy returns Ant!
  18. Battle: Los Angeles

    My favourite episode!
  19. 3 best, 3 worst movies

Best: Apocalypse Now Raiders of the Lost Ark Ferris Beuller's Day Off Worse: Highlander 2 (why did they bother with the alien planet storyline?) Iron Eagle 2 (good idea but lousy execution) 1984 (Even Richard Burton & John Hurt couldn't save it)
  20. Happy Birthday Mannie!

    Many happy returns my friend.
  21. Great terrain mate! My B-52s keep getting ambushed by MiG-29s though
