Israel established 103 squadron in May 1948 to serve primarily as a transport unit. The squadron was initially composed of several DC-3 and DC-5 aircraft, and added three former US Navy Catalina aircraft in 1951. The Israeli Air Force merged 103 and 69 squadrons in 1954, at which time B-17 aircraft were part of the 103 squadron. During the Sinai Campaign of October 1956, France loaned Israel ten C-47 aircraft, and Israel also acquired three N-2501IS Noratlas aircraft in 1955. Over the next ten years, 103 squadron added additional aircraft, some of which were subsequently transferred to other squadrons. The Six Day War of 1967 provided 103 squadron with another opportunity to act in its air support role, although one Noratlas aircraft was lost. The squadron continued its air support operations during the Yom Kippur War, and it had received eight Hercules C-130H aircraft by 1976. The first C-130J-30 entered service in the IAF on the 9th of April, 2014 and received the nickname Shimshon, Hebrew for Samson, in recognition of it's load carrying capacity and also as a counterpart to the English nickname Hercules. From flightglobal.com: As of 2016, Israel is said to be close to starting negotiations linked to a planned deal to boost its fleet of Lockheed Martin C-130J tactical transports, sources in the nation have indicated. Three of the airlifters – named "Samson" in Israeli service – are already in operational use at Nevatim air base. Another two will arrive this year under with a further example to follow later. The air force previously outlined a requirement to introduce additional examples on top of those six. Meanwhile, the operational experience gained by the service in operating the new-generation Hercules since April 2014 will lead to an increase in the number of Israeli-developed systems integrated with its fleet. Most of the enhancements – designed to support the needs of the Israeli Defence Forces' depth command – are incorporated at Lockheed's Marietta final assembly site in Georgia, while other equipment is added in Israel. ---------- Israeli Air Force 103 'Elephants' Squadron skin for Dels C-130J-30 Repaint of Dark Grey RAAF skin that came with the C-130J-30 mod Installation --------------------- Just drop the contents of the file(Objects folder) to your mod folder and let it overwrite existing files. 2. I think that any skins for the F-15A_Baz can also be used for the stock F-15A. You would just need to rename the .bmp files to match the F-15A names.
  3. I'm thinking of updating the A-6E SWIP and USMC (and doing some other A-6 variants): 1) AIM 9s were carried by USN Intruders. Did Marine Corps aircraft carry them too? 2) Did Marine Corps A-6s carry nuclear weapons? Navy aircraft did. 3) Did either Navy or Marine Intruders carry AGM 65 Mavericks on triple racks? I've seen illustrations in books but no actual photos. Thanks
  4. Shimshon, now with squadron badge and correct serial numbers. We'll soon get high with a little help from my friends Jarek and Kevin! Question - I have permission to release the skin, but does anyone want me to create a full nationalised Israeli Shimshon aircraft (with Dels' permission of course)?
  5. C-130J-30 Shimshon WIP using Dels' dark grey skin & some stock Israeli decals. Does anyone have a decal for the 103 'Elephants' Squadron badge?
  6. Peeppu you've got to start hunting through the SF1 downloads... Here's an Israeli Dragon Rapide skin http://combatace.com/files/file/7674-idfaf-dragon-rapide-1948/ The aircraft is at the A Team site.
  7. An Avro Shackleton would be nice for Cold War ASW, AEW and naval search missions.
  8. My mind has gone blank and for the life of me I can't find the answer in the KB for either SF1 or SF2. I want to rename the IsraelME folder in my SF2 install as this is a detailed terrain and quite memory intensive so I also want the standard IsraelME terrain available for when I haven't got time to wait for the detailed terrain to load. I renamed the folder to IsraelMEDL and also have an IsraelMEDL.ini, and IsraelMEDL.HFD and IsraelMEDL.TFD but when I ran a mission to test the terrain all of the airfields have disappeared and I'm taking off from a discoloured grass field. What have I done wrong and how can I fix it?
  9. The CatFile pointer has sorted the problem! Thanks so much.
  10. I'm no expert and have never done it before, but like I said you could buy the Campaign Customizer or have a look in the Knowledgebase. http://combatace.com/topic/44798-adding-aircraft-to-campaigns-in-sf2/
  11. But the OH-6A should be fine for flying in a 'Nam campaign though and you could add the AH-6F to a more modern campaign.
  12. Have you considered buying the Campaign Customiser from the TW store? https://store.thirdwire.com/store_dlc.htm
  13. You may have an older version. I just downloaded it again tonight. Look in Part1 and you will see a folder called 3_OptionalAircraft which is where you will see the B-17 amongst others.
  14. The 48-56 Mod includes an optional aircraft folder with everything you need to use several of the DAT aircraft including the B-17 (skins, ini files etc) EXCEPT for the LOD files which you will have to download from the DAT site if you have access.
  15. In the SF1 section: http://combatace.com/files/file/6442-idf-b-17g-1956/ http://combatace.com/files/file/6440-idf-b-17g-1948/ I think they are for the DAT models. In the SF2 section you also have the 48-56 Mod which includes an Israeli B-17 and skins: http://combatace.com/files/file/13757-48-56-exp-1-add-on-redux-part-1-of-2/ http://combatace.com/files/file/13756-48-56-exp-1-add-on-redux-part-2-of-2/
  16. Very nice! Any thoughts on including a Euro1 camouflage option?
  17. Sundowners recent excellent Alternative Falklands Terrains pack inspired me to dust off my SF2: South Atlantic install to try some post-1982 scenarios. We know that 1435 Flight is based at Mount Pleasant with 4 aircraft only, Phantoms, then Tornadoes and now Typhoons. What if the Argentines launched a bolt from the blue airstrike, looking to hit the airfield and other targets before Britain could deploy reinforcements from the UK? I'll be playing the missions in different years to see what happens using the different planes employed by 1435 Flight, and also from the Argentine side, upgrading their aircraft as appropriate. My basic scenario is a strike by 3 flights of 8 A-4s (or maybe 6 flights of 4 A-4s), with 2 flights of 2 A-4s to fly defence suppression, and two flights of 4 Mirages to fly top cover, either Escort or Fighter Sweep. My dilemma is how to deploy the RAF assets in the mission builder. I don't think that a flight of 4 is useful because they are all going to get tangled with the first flight they engage. So do I go for two flights of 2, or should I set each aircraft to operate independently and assign one flight to each inbound strike flight and hope they engage any other bandits with remaining missiles? And what would happen in a real life situation? Would the RAF jets be committed singly?
  18. Not sure. Does Wrench mention anything in the readme? Here is a search in the downloads for 'Madagascar' which gives you quite a few campaigns and other downloads for SFP1 and for SF2. Have fun! http://combatace.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1
  19. There's also this one: http://combatace.com/files/file/10948-east-africamadagascar-terrain-version-20-for-sfwo-and-sf2/
  20. I did something similar for the S-3 Viking:
  21. Is it me or does that cockpit look a lot like the Millenium Falcon!
  22. Capt Eric "Winkle" Brown

    S!
  23. If you've got SF2:NA then you could conceivably use the old TMF F-14 model and edit the .ini file so that it uses the stock TW F14 cockpit and avionics etc.
  24. Happy New Year 2016 to all of you!

Happy New Year guys! Hope it brings all that you want.
