  1. File Name: Mi-8T Egypt File Submitter: allenjb42 File Submitted: 6 Jan 2008 File Category: Helicopter Skins Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam/Wings Over Europe etc Mi-8 and Mi-17 skins readme All credit for these skins goes to their creators as detailed below. All I've done is to re-format them for SF\WOV\WOE and add a textureSet to each skin. Not all of the countries for which we have skins are included in the standard NATIONS.ini list, so I've left those as Soviet. It doesn't make any difference to the skins' appearance as there are no decals to worry about. If you have the New Nations mod that includes these missing countries then feel free to modify the relevant TextureSet. Installation: All you need to do is to extract the skin to your Objects\Aircraft\Mi-8 or Mi-17 folder, then go fly and blow up some stuff. The skins are interchangeable between The A Team's various models of the Mi-8 and Mi-17, including the static model Mi-8T. All you need to do is rename some of the .bmps within the skins folder to the model type you want the skin for. e.g. if you have a skin for the unarmed Mi-8T that you want to use on an armed Mi-8TV, you will need to rename as follows: Mi8T-r --------> Mi8TV-r Mi8T-s --------> Mi8TV-s Mi8T-t --------> Mi8TV-t Thanks must go to the A Team for making the Mi-8 & Mi-17 for SF\WOV\WOE and especially to Capun for all of his help, Vladimir Zhyhulskiy for the FS2004 Mi-8 and original textures, and of course TK for giving us these great sims to play with. This skin is based on Mike Pearson's textures and converted with his kind permission. Enjoy, and good hunting Allen ps You can use these skins in any mods, campaigns etc, but please name check me and the original skinners in your credits as a courtesy. Thanks Click here to download this file

  5. I think I missed seeing it in the file announcements thread too. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...amp;showcat=272
  6. I never saw the Eckert Brothers again. In time, this war - like every other war - ended. But I never forgot. And I come to this place often, when no one else does. "... In the early days of World War 3, guerillas - mostly children - placed the names of their lost upon this rock. They fought here alone and gave up their lives, so that this nation should not perish from the earth." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087985/
  7. There's also this version of an A-4H available until WOI is released: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=1230 And skins: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=1343 http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=1226
  8. You have to change each member of your flight or squadron individually.
  9. If you're doing a modern campaign by all means use the Cypriot Mi-24 skins included in my Mid-East Hinds pack.
  10. I think that the Malvinas map is for post-war use as the Mount Pleasant airbase was built after the war. I use it for Phantoms & Tornados on QRA, and use Edward's Falklands map for wartime missions.
  11. Ooh, that could have saved a lot of trouble and a big thread! Is it worth getting Marcello's permission to use his skins to create 'new' Argentine Skyhawks to replace the withdrawn ones?
  12. I'm very disappointed in all of you. I finished my post with a Blazing Saddles reference and no one picked up on it. Shame on you for missing out on one of the funniest movies of all time!
  13. This should whet your appetite for the upcoming Falklands mod. http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?...522#Post2148522 AFAIK it will be freeware and is supposed to be out in the new year, but exactly when is anyone's guess.
  14. Try typing King Kong in the file library search at Avsim....yeah its for FS2004, but this is in the readme...No "it's mine" claims or rules. Do what you want with it.
  15. As one of those who was refused help by Diego on some mods of his pilots I was naturally disppointed, but I have to respect his view, and it is, after all, his work that he can either release or not as he chooses. What I will say is that this was all done by pm and he was polite as he says in his post. Of course it would be great if he brought his work back to the community, but he has said his piece and doesn't want to, so that's that. In respect of the original problem of the lost files, I think that could have been handled more discreetly by C5 and USAFTMTL (by pm and email) and then none of this would have blown up, although I fully understand that it was on C5's site and Don can do what he wants there. So, if that's all: Meeting adjourned. Oh, I am sorry, sir I didn't mean to overstep my bounds, you say that
  16. I'm thinking the last third of 'Blue Thunder' although that was LA, not NY.
  17. I think they used Stingers in Hammerheads. At work now so I can't check on my bookshelf.
  18. Major update to the list, because I got Bill Norton's essential Air War on the Edge for a birthday present, so I've added a few more planes that weren't in my original sources. Thanks to the A-Team's Beta release policy we now have: Beechcraft Bonanza Yes No (skin on the way thanks to Wrench) Beech B200 Super King Air and RC-12 Guardrail (Hebrew nickname: Tzufit (Thrush)) Yes No. If any one wants to try an IAF skin, these are painted in overall grey (FS3635) like US Army machines, black radome, anti-glare panels on the nose and engine cowlings, and chrome spinners (from Air War on the Edge - Bill Norton p346). Actually, this is retty much the skin that comes with the plane anyway! Mil Mi-8 Yes No . A skin for this captured aircraft has been done by Michael Pearson for the FS2004 Mi-8 and can be seen at Avsim if anyone wanted to use it as a basis for doing one for the A-team's bird.
  19. Actually, Namer means 'leopard', and we already used that for the fictional Israeli F-5E. I do like Arye though, so if no one objects , that's what we'll use. Mazeltov triplethr3at, you get a virtual crate of Maccabi beer and a bowl of falafel
  20. Very nice indeed Jim. As soon as someone decides on a name I'll update the list.
  21. The big ship ate the little ship?
  22. Excellent work on the speechpack. I asked about doing this a few years ago over at SimHQ and got the answer that it wasn't possible. Might be appropriate for a Falklands mod too. So the impossible has been done. I guess miracles may take a bit longer (German, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, French, Korean, Chinese, Hebrew, Arabic, Farsi, Parani, Dhimari etc etc).
  23. One for Wrench to answer methinks. He's done a fine job with various versions of the Mustang and Corsair so far.
  24. Thanks for the update Jim. Great skins. When I saw your post I thought you had an Israeli Kestrel for us And no that's not a request or a gimme gimme post.
  25. Got some models for sale

I'm having a sort out at home, and since I'm never going to find the time to make the models I've been hoarding away (and the skinners and modders make such better ones than me that I can play on my computer), I've started posting them on ebay. They're pretty much all 1/72 scale modern aircraft/helicopters, but I've got a few 1/144 planes and 1/35 military stuff to post too. I'm also going to put up my comic collection too when I get round to taking pictures of them all. I go by allenjb422 on ebay so drop by and make me an offer I can't refuse - no horses heads please!
