  1. Look Who's 35 Today....USAFMTL

    Many happy returns Dave.
  2. Was it this series? http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/d/keith-douglass/
  3. From a thread over at SimHQ back in March 2005 (was it really that long ago?): Richard Herman Jr - Warbirds, Force of Eagles and Firebreak are my favorites of his books, although wouldn't Force of Eagles just be a one-off mission rather than a campaign? I'm typing in my lunch break at the moment so I'll work up some aircraft lists at home tonight, but off the top of my head (and this is a bit stream of consciousness so excuse me)I'd like: Larry Bond: Red Phoenix (Korea terrain) Cauldron (EAW terrain) Vortex (Madagascar terrain?) - Cuban\Soviet backed invasion of South Africa (Mirages IIIC & F1C, Cheetah/Kfir?) Barrett Tillman: Warriors (Israel terrain) - Mid East war with invasion of Israel by frontline states and Iraq, and focusses on a Saudi wing of F-20 Tigersharks led by British & US mercs. There are some huge air battles, including F-15 vs F-15, a strike by Saudi Tornados on Jerusalem and Israeli nukes dropping all over the place at the end. The Sixth Battle (Madagascar terrain) - Another invasion of South Africa, focussing on a US carrier air wing attacking the invasion and the Soviet carrier battle group (2 x Kutsnesov carriers) that is supporting it. There is a great sequence where the virtually the whole US air wing launches an Alpha strike on the Russian carriers with Intruders, Hornets, Prowlers, Tomcats and even the Vikings get in on the act and carry out air strikes later in the book. Tom Clancy: Red Storm Rising (EAW terrain of course, but also a North Atlantic one if available) - This is the motherload! Take your pick - a Central Front war with A-10s, Tornados, F-15s, F-111s, F-19s (please!) and anything else NATO has got against pick a number and put MiG, Su or Tu in front of it! or a Navy campaign with Tomcats & Hornets vs Backfires (we could use Blinders), Badgers and MiG 29s. Debt of Honour - US carrier battle group vs Japan, namely Tomcats & Superhornets vs F-15s & Mitsubishi F-2s (an F-16 skin?). The F-22 also makes an apprearance. Finally... David Axton: Stolen Thunder (Libya terrain) -This would be a one off mission. From Amazon.co.uk:- 'B52 bombers used against North Vietnam now stand obsolete in the Arizona desert. Six ex-military personnel, including a woman pilot, hijack one of them and set out on a 12,000-mile flight to Libya. Their mission - to bomb a terrorist training camp outside Tripoli, to avenge a young pilot's murder'. You could fly as the BUFF, as a US or Russian carrier pilot, as a British Tornado F3 or Hawk pilot (excellent dogfight sequence with Tornados and Hawks vs Libyan MiG 25s and 21s) Oh...B-52s.... Dale Brown - Flight Of The Old Dog anyone? DBS terrain. Now that would need some work on a plane! And that brings us back to where this thread started! BTW Dave, do you remember your reply to my post above?
  4. The SWIP (Systems Weapons Improvements Programme) upgrade allowed the A-6E to carry AGM-65E & F Maverick, AGM-84A Harpoon, AGM-84E SLAM and AGM-88 HARM. Previously Intruders could carry AGM-45 Shrike for defence suppression. Will we get those on v1.2? Alternately, you could release a seperate aircraft with these capabilities - A-6E SWIP - which started being delivered to squadrons in 1990/91.
  5. An updated DS terrain would be great, and a campaign even better. It'll give me something to do with my DS install. Feel free to use or edit the DS breifing ini I uploaded in my briefing pack. Also Dave, I've got table giving the Air Order of Battle for Desert Shield/Storm in one of my books. I can scan and send it you if you want. I used it to populate my Aircraft folder, and we have a fair few skins that would be appropriate too that I can highlight on the table.
  6. If you've got the F.3 then you must have downloaded Florian's Tornado package. His GR.1 and IDS do have Sidewinder rails. AD's versions do not. As for ALARM, maybe it will be in the next weapons pack. But you could always fly the ECR and have HARMs instead.
  7. File Name: Strike Fighters Briefing Pack File Submitter: allenjb42 File Submitted: 10 Feb 2007 File Updated: 4 Mar 2008 File Category: Environmental Mods File Version: No Information Website: No Information Strike Fighters Briefing Pack Readme For some reason the creators of many of the third party terrains that have been released have omitted to include a briefing.ini file with the terrain or have included a blank document. What this means is that when you click on the briefing tab in the mission setup area you will get a black screen and a CTD, which kind of ruins the atmosphere when you're getting pumped up to go out there to defend the free world against the rampaging communist/Nazi etc hordes. Here is a collection of briefing.ini files for most of the terrains out there that have this problem with what I hope is some appropriate text to get you in the mood for your mission. Feel free to edit them to suit your needs. I've also included English briefing.ini files for Gepard's Israel and Suez terrains as the originals are in German. List of briefings included: AE - Madagascar terrain AmericaNW - American North West terrain ANWgreen - American North West terrain (Green) ANWwinter - American North West terrain (Winter) DS - Desert Storm terrain IR - Iran Iraq terrain Israel 2 - Israel v2 terrain Israel - Israel terrain Kosovo - Kosovo terrain libya - Libya terrain LibyaWW2 - WW2 Libya terrain Malvinas - Malvinas terrain mideast - Middle East terrain scal - Southern California (Top Gun) terrain SE - South East USA terrain Suez - Suez terrain SW - South West USA (Red Flag) terrain tiawan - Taiwan terrain (the USAFMTL version) Ibstallation is simple - just extract the briefing you want to the appropriate terrain's folder, which you will already have installed within your Strike Fighters, WOV or WOE Terrain folder. The only other thing you may need to do is to check inside the individual terrain's folder in the .ini file to make sure that the line BriefingText= includes the name of the briefing.ini file. For example, in my Kosovo terrain folder the kosovo.ini file contains the line BriefingText=Kosovo_briefing.INI The only terrains that I know you will have to edit are USAFMTL's mideast terrain (which points to the original desert_briefing.ini) and Wrench's WW2Libya (which points to the libya_briefing.ini). All of the rest should work just fine. Thanks to TK for SF, WOV, WOE, FE and who knows what else, and of course to the creators of all of these fine terrains for enhancing this great game of ours. Have fun, and good hunting... Allen (allenjb42) Burton Any problems, find me at combatace.com, simhq.com or column5.us Click here to download this file
  8. You need to make sure that the squadron that your plane's skin is for is included in the squadronlist.ini (in the pilotdata folder). For example, in my SFGKosovo install I added VAQ141 to the list like this: [squadron014] Name=VAQ141 DisplayName=VAQ-141 Shadowhawks Nation=USN And then when I ran a single mission and went to the briefing, hey presto: Now to add all the squadrons for all the skins in all my installs....
  9. The plane pack is by Florian and the skinpack is by Sundowner. If they are members here why not ask them to upload to CA or give someone permission to do so on their behalf?
  10. Short answer is I don't know. I haven't had any problems with doing it though.
  11. The F.3 at Avsim is the only one of that version available. Armoudave's versions are all based on the strike version. Here's what you need to do to get Florian's Tornados to fly without a CTD: Extract the Flightengine.ini from the flightdata .cat file Then amend this section to read: [GraphicsSettings] ZBufferDepth=24 MaxVertexCount=16384 MaxIndexCount=32768 MaxTextureCount=16384 MaxModelType=2048 MaxMeshPerScene=2048 MaxModelPerScene=4096 MaxLightPerScene=1024 AspectRatio=1.333333 MinPixelSize=1.0 That should sort you out.
  12. MvR's Last Dr1

Great stuff Sir! I think this is the one we've all been waiting for.
  13. Also, I think only SF is open ended in terms of dates. Aren't WOV and WOE limited to the date range you can fly?
  14. These are only available on Capun's site http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/
  15. There's a Tornado F.3 included in the Tornado pack at Avsim. I don't think it's been uploaded here though.
  16. Problems with SimHq forums again?

And I thought you and C5 had nuked the place on your way out Dave!
  17. He's taking a break for a while. And who can blame him after the recent events on the forums. He'll be back.
  18. Why have you moved my A-26 skins from the general skins to the WW2 skins? I specifically did not post them to the WW2 section as they were from the Korean war or other conflicts, such as Cuba or Indochina. I also noticed that you've moved LloydNB's Suez skins to WW2 as well.
  19. I'm not making a fuss, I was just a bit suprised that they had been moved. I'd already guessed that it was because the aircraft was originally a WW2 one, despite serving in many wars afterwards. I agree, though, that all the skins should be arranged by aircraft type as that would make it a lot easier for people to find a skin for a plane that isn't one of the stock aircraft list individually at present. Keep up the good work guys.
  20. Hey Scrapper, try this site - more MiG 29 profiles than you can shake stick at! http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww4/f/39/15/0
  21. P-38?

Wrench has a P-38 at his site: http://wrench1smog.com NEW 11/19/05!! Generic OD skin, with 1943 markings for P-38F/G/H/L models. This is the complete airplane; with everything needed to unzip and fly away!! Please read the 'readme' for important information. Have a look on the new aircraft page.
  22. Great skins mate. If you're taking requests could you do Syria and North Korea please?
