I like your number 5 point trooper about the cats. I have a Border Collie who sometimes comes in while I am flying and nudges my arm away from the flight controls because he is demanding affection

If I remember rightly was the FE one the one with a sort of open tray type magazine for the MG? Always thought that was quaint.

Accents ah yes .... A long time ago I took my girls to the NZ premier theme park (only one I think) called Rainbows End. A couple of NZ girls running the rides were making fun of the way we say Fish and Chips! This is coming from people who say Fush and Chups, and sex instead of six. So I guess everyone makes fun of everyone else in this cruel world.

No reflection on WoFF but if this plane is available in the RoF UE version or Thirdwire First Eagles 2 and you particularly want to fly it then why not load the relevant sim and go for it. Not written in blood that you can only fly in one sim. I have heaps of simulators but only three loaded at the moment (WoTR, WoFF and Aerofly FS2) and dable with them all now and again

Trotski and Trooper ... what a pair of knockers ... wait let me rephrase that ....

Took off on a long training flight to fly up the Thames but after 15 minutes or so my TrackIR stopped working to the extent that I could only see straight ahead! My Buttkicker was functioning flawlessly though, as is Fraps. I returned to Sutton Farm and landed successfully and was told that my training was complete and I have been posted to number 16 Squadron RFC. That rang a bell so I looked on my bookshelf and there was Duncan Grinnel-Milne's book Wind in the Wires. That book covers his experiences in number 16 for just about the period of my posting. How accurate is this sim I keep asking myself. Fantastic work. In real life I guess with 5 hours under my belt I would have been really looking forward to going to the front and giving the Hun a bloody nose in my superb BE2c. Lambs to the slaughter ........

I am enjoying this sim so much I might brush off my Buttkicker and attach it to my chair again. -
It is a single player stand alone experience. At the moment my internet is as slow as a wet week in Melbourne which is why after spending a fortune in a sale on several of the latest and greatest sims they reside on the shelf. Cannot play multiplayer with dodgy intermittent internet connections. Always shooting at where the enemy was five minutes ago if not getting crashes to desktop (CTD's). This one, no worries, just fire her up and off you go. Thanks to OBD and their hard work. Pol is a great bloke too. I still fire up Wings of War PC (2004) when grandson visits and Pol did so much for the users in that sim too. Always willing to help and improve things.

I saw this and downloaded it but there is no description of what it does in the zip file. So what does it do please?

Thank you.

Because we are all individuals there is no sim that will satisfy everyone. Do not have VR but I use AFS2 (Aerofly FS2) as my civilian sim and my bug bear with that is that it takes up so much diskspace. You need terrabytes of space if you want to download all the countries that are supplied and the user made sceneries as well. That sim I have set to run at 120FPS on my laptop and it runs smoothly and I love it. I would have bought the new MSFS offering but I think that like the previous incarnations it is fairly expensive for the base product and mega dollars in the future with various city scape add ons and other third party stuff. I am thinking I do not need to spend any more for new sims or add ons. BH&H II is great for my WWI fix and AFS2 is good for flying over my house and doing other sightseeing. -
I just finished Military Aviation of the First World War by Alan Sutton, War Story by Derek Robinson and the five book series by N L Collier. The first one is pretty good non fiction and it covers most of the major air services, Aces and planes, the second one is fictional about the RFC, the last mentioned covers progression from the trenches to Ace status of a German pilot. I liked them all.

When I started the Navigation phase of my training the labels disappeared. L no longer worked. Also today for a change Triggers actually took off before me which took me by surprise and by the time I got on what should have been his six he had disappeared. So fancying some nice fish and chips I headed down to Southend, only to discover that the pier is missing! Feeling wet (raining again) and grumpy I began the long flight home and arrived safely at Sutton Farm after 57minutes. I was credited with this training but during the flight I had the Loading screen appear and a freeze a few times. I figured out that by hitting alt tab I could cycle back to my game and it would unfreeze. I am flying in a laptop with dual video cards and the nvidia one is pointing at CFS3 as per the FAQ. Anyone else had this experience?

I am cold and very wet! Pouring with rain and this Triggers fellow insisted on doing circuits and things before landing. Well. after half an hour I had had enough I can tell you. For a start he seemed to vary his speed so often that it was deucedly difficult to get behind him. I am so glad I selected pilot never dies because on my first landing attempt although I was lined up perfectly for a great landing my airspeed dropped too much and I would have crashed on the airfield. My second landing was tickety-boo though.

Se5a Lewis - fire separately from Vickers?
VFC_Baxter replied to catch's topic in WOFF BH&H2 - General Discussion
Pardon my extensive ignorance but if there is more than one gunner on some planes then could we not just program that Lewis mount as another separate gunner position with zero horizontal arc? -
I just use the windows security and it was turned off! I am thinking probably weather had a hand in it as it was raining etc. I will keep an eye on Triggers and if it happens again will do a reinstall after making sure everything is deleted.
-
Yes I did have UE and PE and I uninstalled them prior to installing this version. I can check the date on some of the scripts but would not know what to look for.

That Triggers chap just spun in near the airfield! Is he going to rise like the Phoenix from the ashes to have another go at killing me in his training missions I wonder? Very tricky to keep astern of the blighter and at the same distance but I think that is good practice for the way in which the RFC and later the RAF seem to have attacked the enemy. I am sure our formation flying will really frighten the Huns.

I just have to ask ... what does QOL stand for in this heading? Having worked in Health for many years to me it will always be Quality of Life.

Thanks for sharing this.

Lewis Gun reload tosses drums overboard
VFC_Baxter replied to epower's topic in WOFF/WOTR - FAQ/Technical Issues
What a dreadful weapon that Lewis gun was! Limited ammunition and the very real chance of going out of control whilst wrestling with the thing! -
Quite right! Sorry old chap, I got a bit carried away there.

Not too keen on the II tacked onto Between Heaven & Hell either. To me it looks like an afterthought. Maybe a sim rename as well as a new Logo would have been good.

Had WoFF for a while but I am a noob in this sim when it comes to doing things properly and so far I have only got 58 minutes into training mode. My first solo was this morning. When the briefing says that I should follow my trainer doing circuits and landings he does not seem to want to take off before me. Is this a programming error or is there a key command to get him to start?
-
Thanks Adger I should have done that instead of pressing on alone. I did land ok but a littlr fast and very nearly went into trees. I must say that for me flying from within the cockpit is harder than doing it in chase view. Worth the effort.
