Ok I had it. Catpack 1.2 works thanks.
-
What filename and where did you get it from please. The latest SF2 one I have does not seem to work with FE2.

Beautiful work -
Where do I find Decals.ini in FE2? Is it in the Users of program file path, or do I have to unpack it please. I am busy installing all my planes into FE2 after changing from FEG and I honestly do not know.
-
I think I half worked out my problem with not finding the ini files. StrikeFighters2 extractor was not reading the cat files because somehow they defaulted to notepad files on installation. I changed properties to be crypto files and SF2 extractor will now read them but it will not unpack them. I am thinking either to copy the cat files across from my Laptop installation or to reinstal FE2 might fix it. I love the whole windows 7 and new computer experience! Some of my old programs just will not run anymore because they are not compatible with 64 bit windows 7 despite messing about with compatibility settings. I guess that means time to upgrade them too.

Thank you Quack. I had been reading the SF2 instructions but still could not figure out where those ini files came from so much appreciated.

I would like to re install my scenery add ons into FE2 on my new computer. I remembered how to install planes but not scenery. Lemberg, Cambrai, Vogesen and Flanders are just not showing up in the menu. I put them into my Program files First Eagles 2 /Terrains folder but am wondering if they should not have gone into the other path under users. Could someone please point me in the right direction thanks. I really should delete most things that were good for FEG and not FE2 now as well, when was FE2 introduced? I might delete anything in my data files older than that.

Answered my own question. Just dragged the "new"sceneries"over to the folder under Users did it just like the planes installation. Must say the transition from FEG to FE2 was pretty smooth

Having fun trying to install FE2 and mods on my new computer. I installed FE2 okay then thought I would try installing the Il2 clouds mod. I am stuck on step 1 which is finding the environment.ini in the Flight directory. It does not exist, my SFP1e utility will not unpack any cat files I have and in search of a more recent version of SFP1e I can across this instruction:- Fortunately this is a relatively easy fix. You won't need the Weapons editor, just the SFP1e .cat extractor utility available at CA in the Utilities download section. I have no idea what CA stands for or where the CA in the Utilities download section is, but I do hve SFP1e in my data files. When SFP1e did not work for me I did try changing the file association of the cat files in case that was my problem. Unfortunately I have managed to get them locked into open with notepad, so could some kind soul please tell me what the association should be please so I can change them back. I have tried uninstalling Fe2 and reinstalling it but the file association is not changing back. Also is there a acronym and jargon free set of mod instructions for computer clutz's like me to follow? I know if I can just do one mod then it will all flow but got to get there first.

Thank you that worked fine. I have bookmarked the link and deleted my old file. This sim is not one I want to mess about with in the early hours of the morning! Still not happy with those little puffy clouds though :-)

I got this weird email last night purporting to from the webmaster@theaerodrome.com and it said something like radicals will take over the white house and the houses of parliament on November 5th 2012 and if you watch the following TV programs you will know why. I deleted it and then tried to log onto the aerodrome.com but got a bad url message back. I am thinking that some spotty faced little twit has hacked it and it has been taken down Very sad day if that is true as I think it was one of the premier resources for WWI buffs (as well as this one of course).

Okay, I always have high selected so that is why I could not replicate your problem in my FEG installation. My problem was that I could not run Flanders terrain so I reinstalled Flanders and it seemed to work. I assume you are running Edward's 2007 Flanders that comes from the downloads here. If I take a "busy" screenshot now though it just freezes and I have to CTRL ALT DEL to kill the program. One thing with flight sims is that you will always be fiddling with this or that. If it is not the program it will be your controllers etc. All part of the fun. Glad you worked out your problem though

Hi, What version of FE are you using and which map did the screenshot come from? I would like to try and compare with my version. I am having trouble with the Flanders terrain at the moment.
-
Hi All, I know I have asked this before, but in FEG how do you get rid of all text and help markers off of the screen in order to take a screenshot? I will write the answer down this time as it does not appear in the manual. I love some of the shots you guys are posting too, I have the yellow Pfalz squadron up as my desktop at the moment.

Thanks guys. Got that printed out in case I forget it again.

I am going to Hawaii in a couple of weeks and intend to go to some museums there. Anyone know of any WWI planes or exhibits that would be worth a look?
-
Thanks, I will check those out :-)

Sorry for long delay in replying, I didn't notice your post. I do not know what ENB is and of course I am not you so I cannot really say. But what you buy depends on how much time you have to spend on playing computer games, if you have an income or not etc. Me, I work full time and want to relax when I get on the computer and not worry about the engine settings or other technical details that accompany some of the ROF planes. I just want to fly instantly, so FE suits me better I think. I run FE1 Gold on my main PC with Jan Tuma's excellent terrain enhancement. I run FE2 on my laptop, but with reduced graphic settings because it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card. I have ROF as well and still play FE in preference. The multiplayer in ROF might be more of a draw card for you though. There is also another one you might like if you like boardgames and that is Blue Max. You can look at that at http://www.youplay.it/default.asp Basically it is an online board game. You pick a game and a plane and when it is your turn you get an email. Not pressure and you play as often as you like when you like and it only takes a few minutes to play. Not much help I know but the bottom line, buy them all and play them.
-
Hi, In my experience If I reduce the graphic settings then it should load faster. Otherwise just leave it for a while. If I have my graphic setting up high then it will "stick" at 60 then 80 percent before eventually loading. Hope this is your problem and it helps.

When flying the Hansa Brandenberg in FE2 my pilots lower torso is hanging underneath the airplane. I am not sure why, any pointers gentlemen?
-
Is it possible to shift to other crew positions in FE2?
-
Dumb question but where are those naval skins located int he downloads? I don't see them.
-
Hi fellow pilots, I finally have a notebook machine that will run FE2 properly so I have it up and running. However, being a tad retarded in the computer savvy department except for the planes, I forget how to modify things in this one. I would like to modify the menu screens, and maybe add some new terrain or effects to it. Does anyone have some suggestions for me please. Some of the read me files do not specify if the downloads work with FE2 or FEG, so I am not sure what to go for.

I was drooling at the mouth after seeing your shots of the Fokker 7 in FE2 with the bump mapping, so I thought maybe if I got DX10 on my Quad 660 4gb ram with GTS250 1gb video card I would see that too. So I got onto this site and these pictures were there. I thought you might be interested with your water question. DXDIAG says I am now running DX10 but needless to say, I cannot get anything like that (or bump mapping in FE2) and I now get an error message with I fire up FE2 as well. Any IT savvy folk out there got any ideas please? http://www.techmixer.com/download-directx-10-for-windows-xp/
