Can somebody help here please.

I am not sure how to successfully add planes to my FE2 installation. The installation text says the following but I dont have a SOUNDLIST.INI. I also do not have a weapons folder. I did know to copy the aircraft to C:\My Documents\Thirdwire\FirstEagles2\Objects\Aircraft folder so I can play with it but not to its full potential. Can someone please point me in the right directin here. I didnt think we had to unlock the CAT files any more with version 2 of FE. Unrar the MOS-N.rar to a temp folder Copy the “moraneN” folder and its contents to your Thirdwire\WWI\Objects\Aircraft\ (your path may differ) Copy all the files under the Sounds folder to the Thirdwire\WWI\Sounds folder Open your SOUNDLIST.INI (Thirdwire\WWI\Flight folder) int a text editor and add at the bottom [hotchkiss] Priority=NORMAL Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=4 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=FALSE MaxDist=1000.000000 MinDist=50.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=0 [lerhone] Priority=LOW 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=4 FrequencyControl=TRUE MaxDist=1500.000000 MinDist=100.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=0 Copy all files under the Weapons folder to the Thirdwire\WWI\Objects\Weapons folder. IMPORTANT NOTE, I’ve included my weapondata.ini and my weapondata.dat for ease, It should contain all the available munitions to date + the streamer for the Morane, If you have added your own things to your weapons folder do not copy my weapondata files to your weapons folder, rather add the streamer_red.LOD info to your files in the established way.Copy the “moraneN” folder and its contents to your Thirdwire\WWI\Objects\Aircraft\ (your path may differ) Copy all the files under the Sounds folder to the ThirdWire\WWI\Objects\Aircraft Sounds folder

Thank you Sinbad . This sim might be a modders paradise but it is certainly not user friendly ..... still, what sim is? For WWII I use Wings of Prey and the installation of that one was not smooth either! I bought Rise of Flight a couple of weeks ago and am feeling my way around in that one. Do you use that too?

I will not panic.... I will not panic.... I will not panic ..... aaaaaaarghhhh!!!! I bought , downloaded and installed FE2 after offloading Fe1. I was really impressed with the bump mapping and the ease of installation until I went to instal some planes and mods. I created an Aircraft subdirectory directory under Objects and put 5 or 6 of my favourites in it, and a Missions folder too. I also copied my alternative menu screens into the Menu directory. Absolutely nothing works. The game just fires up and carries on as though I have not modded anything. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong please. Maybe I need to fiddle about with a cat extractor or something.

Me thinks I might have solved the problem. I didnt realise I had 3 directories created when I installed FE2. One under C:\Program Files\Thirdwire etc etc. Another under C:\MyDocuments and yet another directory tree under C:\My Documents and settings. Needless to say I was copying the mods into the wrong one!

Thank you Mike, much appreciated.

Stock terrains update and new effects pack
VFC_Baxter replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Thank you Stary. Flew a couple of missions over your new terrain this morning. Great work and very much appreciated. -
I am not a particularly good shot or pilot and tend to lead my AI squadron on boom and zoom attacks against enemy formations. Sometimes I think I can see an engine stop or a bit of wing fly off or maybe a fire start on the EA I shoot at but by then I am past my target and climbing to attack again. If it wasnt for the score screen I really wouldnt know if we shot any planes down during the fight. I am thinking that maybe this was how it was for most pilots in WWI or even WWII so how come aces can claim the number of kills that they do? I am not disputing any claims or the courage of the folk involved but it seems incredible to me that someone can actually keep score in the confusion of combat. How did they do that?

Got a couple of links here that might help you keep supplying us with quality planes http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww1/f http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/ai...t-1910-1919.asp http://www.gaetanmarie.com/en/ww1.htm http://acepilots.com/wwi/hfa.html -
PT Boats Knights of the Sea due out here in Oz on 4th June. Love my 3d wire sims but this one looks good  Anyone else got a soon to be released game in their sights?
-
That looks like one great plane  There was an article in our local news about a guy who flies model planes with a camera attached that takes digital photos every few seconds. He likes to take pictures of the sea shore. While looking through his photos he realised that he had caught a couple of would be vandals at work on a beach front house and the cops later arrested them. You planning on hanging a camera off of your DR1?

Well done with the good screen shot, there are some nice planes in this sim thanks to Laton and other clever developers. Coincidentally I picked up a copy of the book "In the Cockpit" by the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum today from my local library, and they have the Halberstadt CL.IV as the sole WWI representative of their 50 History making aircraft that appear in the book. Nice cockpit photo and the stick is a two handed one looking like a shovel handle. It sounds like it was quite a plane with high maneuverability and it was fast too.

If you ever wondered about what those Airships looked like inside. This is a book with some really good illustrations. Time Life - Epic of Flight - The Giant Airships. Picked it up last night at a discount book place.

Modding WOE to WWII
VFC_Baxter posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I am a happy user of First Eagles and I just got WOE and want to mod it into a WWII sim. I read Wrench's how to posted on May 24 2007 but he says not to try to mod WOE is it is newer than version 10/06. I dont know how to tell what version I downloaded but I have downloaded the WOE_p083006 patch and would I be right in thinking that if I run this and overwrite my purchased download then the version should revert to the correct one for the modding process to be effective. Also, there are some nice WWII birds over at Capuns site and they are for SPF1, would they be compatible with WOE? Are there any other WWII files that you would recommend that I get? -
Modding WOE to WWII

Thanks for that. I am interested in capturing film of Bomber fleets attacking England using Fraps. What is the link to DAT and Geo's site please. -
getting into trouble. I have a website myself that I just updated and it includes a banner picture. My website is nowhere as good as this one, but I do think the banner picture should be changed maybe once a month. Over Flanders Fiels BHAH is getting a bit stale. Could you please put other sim banners up there more regularly.

I think these skins look great and I cant wait to get my hands on them but .... not sure it is a good idea to mention skinning and mental hospital in the same sentence. What if Hannibal Lectur get to hear about this?

RFC SPAD VII with Lewis gun
VFC_Baxter replied to whiteknight06604's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2 File Announcements
Nice add on thanks. Anything that increases my firepower is a very welcome addition. That reminds me ..... that Dalek in your avatar/sig ....... one of those trundling around a french village would be really cool -
Pleased to report that the Buttkicker Gamer works beautifully in First Eagles. For a small outlay of cash (mine was about $150 Australian) it transforms your computer into a sort of force feedback joystick. Vibrates and rattles according to the bass output of the game. You can feel the beat of the engines and taking hits from EA is unbelievably realistic. Heavy bombers are especially fun with those huge unsychronised engines.

1000 watts My God, you would think being put to death in an electric chair would be a game for sissies! Doesnt that rattle your teeth out?
