  1. Yojimbo, my day starts at 0430 West Coast times and I get in the bed around 2200....6 hours sleep is all I need! 8)
  2. u'll just get eye strain = eyes become tired, u get headaches more easily etc, it doesn't effect the game.. Thanks for the replys guys I never knew about the refresh rate. :D
  3. If there are different rates to choose from then how do you deside which rate is best for your system and what would be the affects if set wrong?
  4. I don't think that the developers of LOMAC like it if you call them 'no-one' ;) No-one does know right now not even the developer. The sim is being optimized right now and until that is finnished the way it will run on any one machine is not known. Hopefully after opimizing it will run very well on your puter but I don't think you will be able to use max settings.
  5. We have all heard that LOMAC may be the last hope for the combat sim industry and if we don’t bring-in new people and increases sales to the hobby it may die. Well, as I try to promote LOMAC within the A-10 community, and the general public, something has come-up with I would like your comments on. First let me tell you how I try to promote LOMAC and flight (combat) sims in general. I of course send screenshots and LOMAC A-10 videos to my units telling them they will be able to fly the Hog soon on their PC. I also pack-up the spare computer and take it to the Hill AFB Aviation Museum about once a month, set-up in front of one of the aircraft, and allow people to play a sim. Naturally I have been getting a lot of questions on system requirements and this has raised a very important question in my mind. A lot of my friends and people I meet at the museum have “off the shelf” computers with limited upgrade capabilities. One of the big problems I see is a lot of the computers have small (32mb) PCI video cards and not the high-end AGP cards. Even if they upgrade to a 128mb PCI card they are still limited by the computers CPU. If we are trying to get “new blood” into simming wouldn’t a USAF type sim with a good dynamic campaign, which would run on medium level systems, be better way to go? By making sims which require major computer upgrades and high-end everything kinda’ shooting ourselves in the foot? Are we trying to revive the sim industry or just putting it on life support by making sims which requires a top-of-the-line system and the knowledge of a computer geek just to run them. I still take IAF and USAF to the museum because I can recommend them to people and be pretty sure they will work on the systems they have at home. What are you guys thoughts on the matter?
  6. I know most of you don't go there much but can any of you even get there? I have not been able to get in for the past couple of day..and I'm a moderator!
  7. Man they really need to do something about their forums!

  9. Will do SeaWolf! I told MadJeff when I applyed for the job that if it ever became to much I will drop the LOMAC forums and only post here...I know who my friends are!
  10. Come on guys I'm not that hard!
  11. I have no sims to play!

I just upgraded my computer so I could play sims and now I can’t play any I have..damn I’m frustrated! I got a new Compaq Presario 2.0 with windows XP. No matter what I do I can’t get my stick to work with Mig Alley or Apache Havoc (which I picked up for $9.95), My Jane’s F-15 will not load (I guess the disk is damaged because it freezes half-way through installation), IAF will not play with the higher DirextX installed in XP, and I have not even tried Falcon4 because I don’t have the time to play this one. I can’t find strike fighters in my local stores (I guess I will have to order it), and LOMAC is a few months away. I have nothing to play…crap what good is a new puter when the software you own doesn’t work with it! Maybe it’s time to find a new hobby which doesn’t require so much money, times (patches and updated drivers), and frustration just to enjoy it!
  12. I have no sims to play!

I got IAF to load on my puter but it doesn’t like it very much! It locks-up, the voices are messed and the throttle doesn’t work but I had a blast with some of the old missions! I know…I know.. the graphics sucked, scripted mission..yad, yad, yad but I have always loved this sims because of the historical missions and this was also the first sim I owned where I could fly my F-4E against Migs!! It really brought back some memories that’s for sure! I did a little follow the leader with “Jonathan”, I bombed the nuclear and, mixed it up with some Migs in the mission builder. I wish I could get this sim to work right in XP but think it’s a lost cause but, I did have fun for a little while! Sometimes you just have to forget what’s wrong with a sim and just have fun playing it!!
  13. I have no sims to play!

Ranger, I haven't tried that but will tonight. I did get Falcon4 to run and work with my stick so I know the stick is OK. I just don't have the time for Falcon but I may download SP3 just to try the A-10 mod. Well thanks veryone for your suggestions...I will either get one of my sims to work or get a new one this weekend.
  14. I have no sims to play!

Nightshade/PR, I went to the site you listed and they want $14.95 for the download (INDEO), I liked IAF but not enough to pay another $15 bucks to play it! :D Thanks for the offer of sending me the files or burning me a copy of WWII fighter but, I'm sure you know that is not right. I have never "bootlegged" a copy of a game...just not my style. Also on the same note please be carful how you make offers like that on this site, if I'm not mistaken MadJeff and Biohaz Central could get in trouble for allowing it here. Not jumping you butt because you were only trying to help but I also felt I had to say this.
  15. I have no sims to play!

I know MadJeff but some days you wish you could just put in a CD and play your damn games! As you may be able to tell I'm having a bad hair day, kids drove me crazy last night, my head hurts, and my retirement paperwork is screwed-up AGAIN! :x SDirickson, I just got a cheap stick to use until LOMAC hits the shelves and can't remember what it is off the top of my head, Saitek 3d something-or-other. I'm going to try ANOTHER install tonight and hope for the best, if still no joy I'm going to find, or order Strike Fighters..would love to be able to fly the F-4 in that one...wish me luck! :D
  16. A carrier pilot's view

Very nice pic Chief...breath takeing!!
  17. An open letter to the sim community

As most of you know I’m a strong supporter of the A-10 and its CAS/CSAR role and with events this week I have been asked, challenged, and down right called out to justify or explain what happen in the British convoy attack. I can’t do that because I was not in the cockpit of that A-10 and the only account of the incident I’ve seen is from the British press. I will not try to justify, nor will I condemn, what happen because as I said I do not know the full story from both sides. I will say if the pilot was negligent I’m sure it will come out and the USAF will take appropriate action but I would like to hear the pilots side before I join the lynch mob forming. Also in my position I have access to information, which I can’t discuss on an open forum, which places me in a very tough situation. I can’t talk about current operations nor can I make statements about incidents such as this before the USAF completes its investigation… if this sounds like a cop-out then so be it that’s the way it has to be. I try to keep an open mind and not defend the USAF or my Hog community blindly but I do want to hear both sides before making a decision and in this case I’ve only heard one side. To me being a supporter means supporting someone in both good times and bad and not just being a “fair weather friend”. I take what has happen personally and it has caused me to lose sleep but I can’t loose my focus right now because there’s a lot more to come. I don’t know if I’m saying this right or will just end-up pissing people off but this is the only way I know to say what I feel right now, flame me if you will. To end I would like to give my deepest sympathy to the British family who lost a loved one in this incident and to say a thank you to the families of the wounded, and the British people as a whole, for supporting us at this time. You have always stood shoulder to shoulder with us in some of our hardest times and I hope you continue to do so. Joe Hodges HQ/ACC A-10 Maintaince Liasion BTW this is not meant for anyone here I just posted it on all the forums I visit so everyone knows where I'm coming from.

BTW your screen name makes sense now...weapons SSgt! 8)
  20. The post your pic thread

You have to blame the pilots/boom operators for that one, sometimes they can't seem to hit the "hole" when A2A refueling and the nose catches hell....here's a bad one... http://www.af.mil/photos/images/030323-F-5855M-016.jpg
  21. The post your pic thread

Cool, I have a friend there she teaches "pointy heads" (JGunn) maybe you know her? I was stationed there from 1983-1987 as a Crew Chief instructor and also have lots of friends at DM. BTW point the young troops to my website and tell them they can talk to us "old A-10 hands" there and keep up on the Hog also. http://www.warthogpen.com
