I was able to go to the Singapore Air Show today. Highlights of the Flying Display are as follows: 1) USAF B-52 fly by 2) Republic of Singapore Air Force F-16 3) Singapore Apache Longbow 4) USAF A-10 5) Korean T-50 Golden Eagle trainer 6) Some French civilian chopper (don't recall the model) 7) Aermacchi M-346 Overall, the show was good fun to watch. The Singapore F-16 and Apache did do some maneuvers together. And the A-10 did show off it's maneuverability. The T-50 was nice as it is a very sleek supersonic trainer. Too bad the RAAF F-111 didn't make the show due to technical difficulties (showng it's age?). It was supposed to do it's dump-and-burn trick. Didn't get any pics as I only brought a celphone cam. Static display was ok. Nothing much. Didn't get to take a lot as the crowds spoil most of the shots. The F-35 was there. But I believe it is a life-size model and not a real plane. For the Singapore Air Force display, you can get close and personal, sit on the cockpits, and take pictures with pilots. They had the F-16, Longbow Apache, Chinook, etc on display. The lines were too long so I didn't try and get into the cockpits of these planes. Here's some pics of the Longbow. And of course the famous front profile... (with kids holding on the gun). They had some UAV's from the US and Israel. Here's the Global Hawk. Didn't imagine it to be so large. Some pics of the USAF F-15 Little bird? The Australian F-111 was there along with several civilian jets. It was a very hot day and I'm tired. Found some videos of the show on the net: http://www.vidoemo.com/yvideo.php?i=Y3g1MEJ4cWuRpY09mNEE&singapore-airshow-2010-flying-display-2-febwmv

No SG Eagles spotted. Since they're quite new, I suppose they're all in some airbase in the US on training duty.

Thanks to FastCargo for giving us the F-15 Pack for SF2. I'm surprised to find the brand new F-15 for Singapore included in the pack. -
Sense of scale
jomni replied to xclusiv8's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
A bit off topic but somewhat related. In most of my SF2 playing time, air combat happens at 10k feet and below. Going from waypoint to waypoint is also quite low (maybe hugging the ground to avoid radar). Is it really that way in real life? Should combat not take place higher say 20-30k feet like in Falcon? -
F-31A
jomni replied to TurtleHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Hi. Does this fix work on all planes? I've inserted EffectShaderName=twColor1.fx, HUDMaterial=HUDMaterial, and HUDMaterial lines to all of the avionics. Haven't test all but seems to not work for those that I've tested. Anything missing? UPDATE: Problem solved. The mod has 2 avionics.ini's and I was editing the wrong one. -
Logical Progression

I'd keep flying the A-4 in 1982. That will be more challenging. -
SF2 Israel + buggy MiG-17

Did you by any chance install a patch? In my case, the modded ini returns to stock if you install a patch. But after that it stays modded. -
Graphics errors when I look in the mirror
jomni replied to Showtime201's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have same problem. It seems that "low graphics" settings (the ones that the mirror uses) has some problems rendering the tiles. Nothing wrong with medium. What's strange for me is that this phenomenon happens in the combo pack. But not in a merged install patch to the latest release. -
How do to enlarge in cockpit mouse's tenderness?

I'm quite amazed at how I clearly understood your query. -
Just bought SF2 collection 2009
jomni replied to peterbezemer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yikes. It's really not liking your hardware. But it doesn't make sense. Could you have a corrupted installer? But that will fail during installation right? -

glad you got it fixed. -
Pilot Survivability in WOE/WOI/WOV...is there a way to change it?
jomni replied to Looxgood's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I usually get enough time to eject. Though it's about 50% of the time. Don't know the historical rate. -

Can you elaborate on this? What do you mean by "one at a time" and "all at once"? -
Some Various Questions

nations.ini and userlist.ini combo is the new thing in the gen 2 series that avoids plane mixups. -
Merged Install Fun
jomni replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The proper sequence is to install SF2V before SF2E. Did you do that? If you got SF2V recently, then the version is Dec 2009 while SF2E is an older version. So that sequence might be problematic. You can either follow that sequence then install the newest patch over. Or you can try to obtain an updated version of SF2E installer from Thirdwire. I don't know for sure since I have the whole collection merged and not just these two titles. -
NF4+ mod

there's a separate thread about the afterburners. http://forum.combata...r-2009-updates/ Also see if this works. http://forum.combatace.com/topic/51187-sf2-combo-effect-pack-v1-00/page__p__370442__hl__afterburners__fromsearch__1entry370442 -
Afterburner effect disappeared after installing December 2009 Updates!
jomni replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
On second thought, I did the updating myself. This upload seems to do the same thing described above. http://forum.combata..._1entry370442 Now all I have to do is to add the line to all the effects ini that need them. Thanks for all the help everyone. -
I'm encouraged by TW's support. I had a problem with the game in my laptop with Intel integrated graphics after the Dec 2009 patch. Initially we thought that the sim has moved on and will not support these cards anymore. But TK seems to be working on the problem. I don't see many developers looking into the problems of people with less powerful hardware these days. Common reaction is to just say that: "Times have changed and your hardware is obsolete". Anyway, all is working fine now after proper uninstall and a clean install. Great work TK

NF4+ mod
jomni replied to Luiz Carlos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Glad you're enjoying the mod. Seems encouraging. Please tell us if you find anything else strange. I haven't tried NF4+ with the newest versions of the game. -
Merged install pros and cons
jomni replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Combo pack is the way to go. ODS and OTC not compatible with SF2 series at the moment. I suppose these will be up to December standards. Only problem is if you like NF4+. It will mostly work but you will find some little things that needs tweaking. The Vietnam mod is generally ok with Dec patch I think. -

Well broken thing can be fixed. Just don't want to continue fixing them myself. (Lazy) Yeah I'll just wait for people to upload an update. -

Sigh, so many changes which breaks the mods. Nothing major though but there's a lot of work involved. I'm getting tired. -
Newbie here. I can now manage to touch the ground without incident. But how do I stop the plane? I always run aground. I know 'K' is the wheel breaks. But it does not help. Do I press and hold it? Is this different from the parking break switch? Anything else I should keep in mind?

SF2 Series UPDATE ALERT!
jomni replied to Crusader's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The December patch has caused some bad side-effects for me. I do not get the speed boost from advanced shaders. Water transition to land becomes white blocks. Don't worry, it becuase of my (Intel integrated) graphics card. Those with powerful graphics cards will still get the speed boost and better graphics. As for me, I'm stuck with pre-December status for my laptop. My desktop can cope though but still stuttering with advanced shaders. I forced DX9 to fix this. -
Any new (or old) SF2 mods in the works?
jomni replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I agree with the modders. It's also hard for the mod user like me to keep up. For the past year, each time a new title and patch is released, I have to redo the ini's of my unlocked stock planes. I finally reinstalled SF2, SF2V and SF2E (SF2I and December patch will cause graphics anomaly) on my laptop clean! And enjoying every bit of it. TK had done a good job in improving the SF2 game engine. I'll still be playing the mods on my desktop though but mostly plane add-ons. The total conversion mods like Vietnam All-in-One Gold and NF4+ keeps breaking. Things will stablize once the patching stops.
