Benefits of unpacking the CAT files?
jomni replied to atuhalpa's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Yup that's the "other story" that I'm talking about. -
SF2 Israel F-16I SUFA
jomni replied to Spiff's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Great! Just curious. Does the model produce weird shadows like the one in the War for Israel Campaign (which I suppose is also a Series 1 Conversion)? And is there an exsisting F-16 pit that is not for the A model? -
Benefits of unpacking the CAT files?
jomni replied to atuhalpa's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
For series 2 Thirdwire sims, you don't need to extract the .cat files. Just keep on adding mod files in the mod folders. But for hardcore modders if you really want to look at what's under the hood and tweak them or use as a reference, then that's another story. -
mirror view resolution

I think it is by default at low settings. -
Excuse me...dumb question really ... but

To be fair. SF2 also took away the multiplayer aspect. But not a lot play multiplayer anyway. -

The order of install is: SF2 SF2V SF2E SF2I -
Not surprising as I do a little dog fighting with it myself. A-4 is one of my faves due to ease of handling. If armed with sidewinders, it's more deadly. In Israel, I can naturally arm the A-4's with AA missiles without fiddling with the ini.

Can anyone tell me why I'm getting purple tracers? And how to fix? This is using the SF2V Air & Ground Expansion + thirdwire Feb2010 update.

Colorful tracers
jomni replied to jomni's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Wow! These "candy traces" are actually more effective in scaring me off than the original ones. The purple, white and red dots stand out so much that they force me to do evasive actions to avoid them more than before. This throws off my aim when bombing Hanoi. -

Was playing with this last night and I saw that you can tow some Artillery via cables underneath your aricraft. It was an interesting sight. -
So how many seperate installs have you got?
jomni replied to allenjb42's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
1) SF2 merged. But with about 4 mod folders (one for each title). 2) Desert Storm 3) Wings over Timor -
MGunny's Ordnance Shop II for SF2
jomni replied to 331Killerbee's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Ah yes. The mavericks. I rembember editing that back in version 1 as well. http://forum.combata..._1entry318215 I think there may be a bunch of invisible ordinance still around in the pack (multiple lods). But I guess I'll do the necessary ini edits once i discover them. -
File path problem..
jomni replied to orsin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I guess he wants to make it possible for planes to use files outside the individual plane's mod folder, in a centralized directory. For me that is practical as not to duplicate some files that are actually shared (cockpit extures for example). The mod folder size will also be decreased. -
Anyone else here loose their F-4's?
jomni replied to Caesar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Have you tried the February 2010 patch? Try also reinstalling. I think there's a bug in the December patch installer that makes you lose some Phantoms. -

Is it just me or are the Brimstone 3-pack still pointing backwards (carried over from version 1)? Anyway, there's a specific thread in the Knowledge Base that fixes this for those who don't know. -
Desert Campaign - No Foreign powers

Just curious. Why is this thread stikied? Is it because of the nations.ini edits? -
SF2 TOMCAT Update Pack
jomni replied to Spiff's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Looks nice. But a lot of work on the ini editing side. Why not include the edited ini's in the first place? Is it for user flexibility? -
