I understand what you are saying, and I am not one of those morons on the other side of the fence that think if you aren't a shooter you are insignificant, those people are as bad as the Cyber Command coneheads thinking they are warriors.
-
Why do you think in Afghanistan we were with the Rangers all the time, you tell those dudes "Hey the 4 of you go up that hill, kill the 50 heavily armed and entrenched hajis with just your side arm" and they will, no questions asked. Never ask them to call in A-10s though. CCT was a challenging and rewarding job, but in the end it put too much stress on my family, body, and mind, at the end of the day I'd rather be chillin' fighting some cyber threat than sitting on a ridge freezing my ass off waiting for extration in a s**thook where I will feel helpless in flight.

It actually goes best with this:

I have been thinking of how cool a First Eagles mod would be based on his books. Hijack off. -

I would, but as you can see, I'm a little busy at the moment: Perhaps you can get a real Russian MiG-29 pilot to do it for you, as it seems they won't have anything to do for a while. -
Spam at McDonalds in Guam is awesome. My wife has free flip flops from Spam at McDonalds on Guam.

3rd Brigade (3ID) was already in Kuwait, 1st Brigade (3ID) went for Desert Thunder, then in August our BN Task Force relived both BCTs, in November we drew go to war ammo, then turned it in. Then proceeded to spend 2 weeks turning in the equipment only to re-draw it the day we were supposed to go home and join TF 3-15 Infantry out in the Udari for a week or so. Got to see B-52s shoot cruise missiles(well we assumed thats what the planes with anti collision lights that would show up above us, and then we would see bright orange flashes, then they would leave were) and a lot of planes take off from Ali Al Salem. MLRS almost shot an ATACM mission, but it got called off. Then went home and I got out of the Army and joined the Air Foce to be a Combat Controller and missed being on tanks the entire time I was in the AF. -

That is not how CNN looked in 1991, that totally ruined the immersion for me. In Targetware we use 100% accurately modeled screens from News channels. -
Fist of all, not being a "warrior" does not make someone's job any less important. It is a term and title steeped in centuries of tradition. As you know tradition is a pretty big thing in the military, people take the traditions of their career field and hold them in high esteem. Titles like "combat arms" and "warrior" are not BS, the title of warrior is EARNED. Are trigger pullers given inflated egos and a sense of importance? Probably, but you know what, that is needed to do that job. You have to have it in your head that you are better than anyone else to do the missions I have done. Yes, pretty much every job has times where the PAX are in a combat fire zone, that doesn't make them warriors, that makes them members of the military. Getting shot at does not make you a warrior, it does not make your job any less important to the war effort, but it doesn't make you the tip of the spear. Traditions need to be kept.

On my last deployment ever, the day I got to Bagram from Indian Country, this C-17 decided it would be cool to do a nose-gear up landing. Once it was determined everyone was unharmed, hilarity ensued watching a bunch of A-10 guys try to deal with it. But the Chief, being a Chief, knew what to do and took over and pretty much single handed got the A/C moved.

I'm down, only if first we can go and kill Robert Mugabe, devastate the ZANU-PF, and give the farmers that know how to farm their stolen land back. -

Desert Fox ruined my Christmas in 1998. -
Now they know how sad the tankers were when they had to give their black berets to the Rangers Mine was friggen' scarlet man, might as well been raspberry like the Prince song.
-
I was in the Air Force and did this on a daily basis while deployed, but I also wore a scarlet colored French hat to work at home station. Also, I don't know exactly what you do, but don't discount your guard duty and mission on the wire as unimportant. Your ability to do that, frees up the trigger pullers to conduct offensive operations while not having to get caught up in FOB defense.
-
Like I said, I never said these people aren't important, and are not doing something very important, but as an actual warrior who has kicked in doors and shot Haji in the face for Uncle Sam, don't pretend doing some cyber crap makes you some warrior on my level.

Dr. Strangelove by far. I'd be down for some nuclear combat with Slim Pickens any day. "Well, boys, I reckon this is it — nuclear combat toe to toe with the Rooskies. Now look, boys, I ain't much of a hand at makin' speeches, but I got a pretty fair idea that something dog gone important is goin' on back there. And I got a fair idea the kinda personal emotions that some of you fellas may be thinkin.' Heck, I reckon you wouldn't even be human bein's if you didn't have some pretty strong personal feelin's about nuclear combat. I want you to remember one thing, the folks back home is a-countin' on you and by golly, we ain't about to let 'em down. I tell you something else, if this thing turns out to be half as important as I figure it just might be, I'd say that you're all in line for some important promotions and personal citations when this thing's over with. That goes for ever' last one of you regardless of your race, color or your creed. Now let's get this thing on the hump — we got some flyin' to do."

The South Carolina ANG isn't fairing to well so far, 2 missions, while both successful, have cost 2 F-16s and 2 pilots POW. Great MOD. -
