It wasn't a dig on you in any way...
  2. I found the motherlode!

Damn, I walked right into that one

That site is actually pretty creepy. I don't know if I was a female how much I would like it if somebody right-click saved a picture of me, whether a press shot or a private snap shot posted on the internet, and put it in a database that is going to be inevitably used for dudes with a fetish to jerk it to.

That is awful, I hope she makes a full recovery and is back here saying foul stuff as soon as she can.
  5. I am flying a campaign in NFIV in the Royal Danish Air Force with F-16A Block 10s. It is pretty fun as Esk 727 is tasked mainly with strikes, mainly along the East German coast. Most of the time I am able to scoot in under, around or blaze through the SAM coverage, or a SEAD flight in front of me every now and then clears a path for me, I have even managed to catch a Cub on finals at the airfield I was attacking a couple times, sweet bonus. My problem arises when I get tasked to be the SEAD flight. I fly my campaigns like a lot of the OFF guys fly, Dead is Dead. Once my pilot dies I don't use him anymore and create a new one, it motivates me not to do stupid 'hero' stuff all the time. Anyways, I know there is more than one way to skin a cat, what are some good ways to counter the SA-11 in a Block 10 Viper? I can't carry Anti-Radiation missiles, and since the range to the target is usually pretty far since I am flying from Central Denmark so I need drop tanks and, and the ECM pod i need takes up my centerline, so I am basically down to a descision of rocket pods or CBUs. The first time I was tasked with this mission my wingman got blasted so quick I didn't know what was going on, and I was able to avoid 6 missiles somehow and, not wanting to die just turned back to base and conceded defeat. 2nd Time we got jumped on the way, had to jettison our ordance, killed 2 SU-15s, but with noting but guns to shoot at SAMs with, I headed home to fight another day. What is the best approach to this mission in this aircraft with the ord. available?
  6. Def not, not this Block anyways, but I think the mission frequency in the campaign is like 10 or 15 so it won't come up all that often. Just when it does, damn.
  7. I'm not 100% sure on the game data, but the tech data I read says 330 feet. I never really looked at my altitude when i got painted, but I flew that last mission below 500 ft.
  8. Alright, so it took me 3 missions before I got a SEAD mission. It was around Berlin at that. I loaded my wingie and myself up with CBUs and added another 2 A/C and loaded them up with AIM-9s so I could have them handle and fighter threat on the way. I decided to go as low as I could go to try to sneak up on the SAMs. It was a pretty smooth flight there were some F-15s that took care of some Floggers in the area, I thought it was open around the target area, boy was I wrong there were actually a flight of Foxhounds and some East German Fishbeds around the airfield the we were doing SEAD around. It was a pretty good trap. The fighters could pop us, and if we went to altitude the SA-11s would pop us. I didn't want to, but I decided to send my 3 and 4 into a death trap and sent them after the fighters while my wingie and I wend after the targets, which actually were ZSU-23-4s and SA-9s... hmm whatever . I strafed a SA-9 from tree top level, went after a ZSU, but bugged out after seein the tracers come at me, I decided to give it one more pass. Went in on another low level gun run, and lost my nerve, hit another SA-9 with CBUs and beat feat out of the area low and fast. my 3 and 4 were gone as I imagined and my wingie some how survived. Back in Denmark looking at the log it was the SA-11s that popped my 3 and 4 probably as soon as they went to altitude. It was a pretty hairy situation. AGM-65 capability would be so useful in this situation, but can't wine, just have to execute. I came away with some lessons learned, hopefully I won't get tasked for this many more times

That has to be the most outlandish, stupidest, ridiculous scenario ever. John Milius can surely think of something better than that.
  10. Extract the Medal ini for whatever service from the flight folder, haven't looked in a while, but pretty sure you can figure out the criteria for each medal by looking there.
  11. The 379th flew the most sorties because they were what, 200 miles away from the theater, not on a 7 Square mile atoll in the Indian Ocean, doing 2 a days and stuff? I'm not saying anything bad about the crews or the people there hell, I'm not saying anything bad about anybody, they went and killed a lot of people and brought everybody home. Most of their organic planes were getting upgraded at depo though. I'm not saying the people weren't there, obviously they were, they just used a lot of borrowed airplanes, it is not a bad thing or a dig at them. If anybody wants to dig at anybody it should be the Castle birds, apparently they sent 2 A/C that wouldn't drop, they knew about it before they went too, and just acted like it didn't matter. My dad flew a mission in a Castle bird, and came back with half a load of hung bombs. Another came back from 2 missions with complete loads. They finally had to send them home and get replacements that had just finished the upgrades. The replacement planes they got were Wurtsmith birds fresh from Depo. It is pretty messed up to send a plane to a war with a known problem and cover it up and it ends up putting a crew in danger for nothing since it can't drop. Those guys took a lot of flack for that. My dad is writing a book about his career, the Desert Storm section is very interesting reading about how hectic the whole situation was. They were expecting 50% losses on the first night, but everything worked like it was supposed to. I'll talk to my father tomorrw and ask what upgrade was being done, and get better info, but I think it was some kind of upgrade to the terrain following radar, or something other.
  12. Yup. Actually it wasn't really "FMC" issues it was upgrades that the Gs were getting at the time, the Air Force didn't want to send Buffs into the fight without the upgrade. The Buff guys fought as 'Provisinal Wings' the largest was at Diego, where my father flew from, the unit was made up mostly of Loring and Castle guys, there were even crew chiefs and bomb loaders volunteering from Minot and KI Sawyer. The plane that crashed on finals to Diego was a Loring BUFF with a Castle crew. Wurtsmith guys were in charge of the KTO and operated out of Jeddah, but most of the A/C they used were Loring and Castle birds crewed by Wurtsmith guys, even some Loring/Castle Grifiths guys. After the first night of the war 6 B-52s that took off from DG recovered in Jeddah and were used by the guys there. The paint scheme showed on Desert Storm B-52s doesn't actually represent who they were flying for, or who was flying them. This whole thing is where the "Air Expeditionary Force" came from.
  13. That is about all the A/C Wurtsmith could get FMC to deploy in 90-91.

Well I was just joking, but the TTS (Tank Thermal Sight in) the M60A3 is a better thermal than the TIS (Thermal Imaging Sight) in the M1, M1IP, M1A1 (all A1 Variants) and M1A2. The M1A2SEP, has nextgen FLIR (same level of stuff the is on the ITAS TOW system and Stryker ATGM) optics that are better than the TTS and TIS. TTS is the sight used to record tank and Brad gunnery on all US Army ranges. It takes less time to cool down, uses less power (longer time without running engine to charge your batteries on a screen line or in the defense) is not green (or red like in the Brad) so the person can actually stand looking into it for longer periods of time with out getting "green eye." Obviously the TIS is a good optic, better than anything anyone else had at the time, but the TTS ws still better, it is certainly more than an "IR Searchlight" I don'ty think the M60A3 ever had searchlights. The M60A3 could also shoot on the move, and was more reliable to be FMC due to maintenece. Obviously the Abrams ib better than the last Patton series tank, but there were some areas it excelled in over the M1. It doesn't matter anyways considering my post was toung in cheek. Oh and the M-60A3 is a better tank in the defense than the M1, as that is what it was built and designed for. The M1 was designed to be an offenisve tank.

  21. When I was 15 my dad let me Taxi a B-52, he was getting me ready in case he was ever captured in a unnamed middle east dictatorship and abandoned by the US government to fly a B-52 there and rescue him with the help of my friends, a Crusty old Vietnam Vet and this super Napalm bomb. Roger
  22. HR 45

I don't like this bill at all, it is like stupid "hate crime" legislation. It isn't going to stop anything and going to be misused. But anyways, the actual bill says "State Issued ID" Since this is a 2nd or 3rd hand cometary it was interpreted as "Driver's License."

I like How Egypt ordered the slaughter of all pigs. "200 people have died in Mexico" "Oh wait our bad, it was only 6" I like how Joe Biden again made even Dan Quayle look smart. This is why I hate the modern media, all hype no substance and politicians do things with what the media will think in mind instead of what is best for who they represent. Yes We Can.

I think it means "not official" meaning this site has no responsibility for the content of that one.
