  1. So I check this site every once in awhile, I am off and on with wings over israel. I just checked and well, it doesnt seem anyone has released a Sukhoi T 50 yet... At least not that I can see. The T50 marks the first russian stealth fighter jet, its pretty big event for them, I see other new planes being released, but I am wondering why nobody has tried to mod this into the game, I think it would make a wonderful addition, I would love to fly it, and can you imagine it as an adversary! Anyways, let me know.
  2. Wow, been a very long time since I posted here.Before I stopped playing this game I could do tons of things, just about anything I wanted to any plane/weapon to make it do what I wanted. I miss that and I decided to come back and install wings over israel for another go. However I have encountered a problem, and I am unsure if I encountered this before or not, so I figured I would ask here. I have downloaded the mirage weapon pack right out of the gate, after I installed the latest patch of the game. I am well aware of the compatibility issues the weapons editor has, so I changed it to windows 95 or 98 like normal. Sure enough, the weapons editor opened just like it should. However, when I go and press OPEN on the weapons editor, to open the weapon.ini file, it doesn't do anything. The weapon editor stays open, but none of the options it has do anything, there is simply no response. Its been at least 4 years since I played this game so its very possible I forgot some special step in the formula to make this work. Does anyone have/had this issue and get it worked out? Thanks for the help gents.
  3. So in my wings over israel game I have used for awhile I have the Mig 31M mod which is my favorite plane. I have modified it to allow it to super cruise at very high speed. Its got insane dry thrust, 170000 per engine, and at 15000 meters could do 1.98 mach at 69% throttle, just shy of the afterburner. However I recently upgraded to Strike Fighters 2, i have put the exact same ini file in the proper folder for this airplane, yet, cannot go beyond 0.97 mach without afterburner. Its rather hilarious that with 170000 dry per engine max, it can only manage 0.97 mach. Yet once the afterburners go to full 225000 each, it will pull past mach 4. What statistic is causing my plane to stop accelerating at .97 without afterburners? It can manage .97 mach at only 35% thrust. But if I increase it to say, 65%, it still doesnt go any faster regardless of altitude, the afterburners need to be engaged for it to go faster. It has to be a difference with the 2 games, since the plane ini files are identical. Thanks.
  4. That fixed it! Thank you so much for finding the value! I've never seen that one before so I had no idea it even existed. Yeah it probably couldn't take that kind of speed, but if it were reinforced and flew high enough maybe it could? If it were flying above 25000 meters and had enough thrust I'm sure it could go beyond 2.8 mach, the Mig 25 could do 3.2. Hey just wanted to double check with you in the aircraft.ini under flight data, there is a mach limiter. If you adjust that and you have enough thrust you should be able to go faster. Doesn't matter what the shape of an aircraft is its like a car if there is enough power/thrust pushing it along you will keep accelerating. This is a game so the stress on the chassis won't be taken into account.
  5. Well see, reaching mach 2.8 isn't my issue, the plane actually performs well beyond mach 2.8, once you remove the limiter. I want to keep it semi realistic, so right now I have put a cap on mach 4.1. Beyond that I believe the engines will catch fire and the plane will explode due to too much heat. As long as the plane has enough thrust I believe it will be able to keep accelerating. That isn't the issue. The issue is regardless of what the dry thrust is set to, it will NOT accelerate beyond 0.97 mach, without afterburner, I can set the dry thrust to 1 million in each engine, and it wont go any faster than mach 0.97 without the afterburners. There has to be some value that can be changed, if there isn't well, I guess we can close the book right here.
  6. Thank you for the help snailman, unfortunately I have no skills in the phsics department, and I never understood all those values. This is from the mig 31m fuselage. CD0MachTableNumData=8 CD0MachTableDeltaX=0.40 CD0MachTableStartX=0.00 CD0MachTableData=1.274,1.000,0.826,2.241,2.497,2.315,1.996,1.996 Of course there are more values on the other parts, but I figured I would start with this. I'll be honest I still dont really understand what the values in the machtabledata mean, and what each one signifies, and what changing the first value from say, 1.274 to 1.5 would do. If you wanted to make the mig 31 do mach 2 without afterburner, what would you change? I notice the values are lower on this one, CLA. CLaMachTableNumData=7 CLaMachTableDeltaX=0.40 CLaMachTableStartX=0.00 CLaMachTableData=1.000,1.000,1.000,0.623,0.792,0.914,1.002 What is the difference between these two values?
  7. Hey guys, I used to be quite good at modding here, and still am. Most of the stuff I knew before is coming back to me, however one thing that isn't is exactly how to correctly install a weapons pack, and then use said weapons. I know this is an older game and I am sure a lot of you have better things to do. However if someone could run me through a detailed, step by step process on how exactly to get the weapons in the weapons editor to work, that would be great. Here is all I remember. I remember that in the weapondata.ini, the written file, there was something you needed to change in order to get the game to recognize them or something. I believe it was the number at the top, making sure they are numbered correctly etc. However after installing the mirage factory weapons pack, I did notice that all the weapons listed in the weapondata.ini were already numbered, however the weapons still did not show up in game. I tryed to make the R40 missiles for the mig 31 show up in game, and no dice, no matter what I did, I modified its weapons pylons to hold any weapon, of any weight, and still they would not show up, I made sure the weapon was of the correct time frame, etc, I know how to make that stuff work, it just isn't for w/e reason. What step am I forgetting to do, or is this a issue with Windows 7. I am running the april 2008 patched version of the game. I also have 2 other issues. One is, the weapon editor and gun editor do not work. The other, is that after I hit ESC to end the mission, the game crashes to desktop every time. I have no idea what is causing the CTD, but a few strange things did happen with the editor. Interestingly enough, the weapon editor, when placed on my desktop, works fine, NOT in compatibility mode. If I place it into compatibility mode, it opens but none of its options work, it has to be run in normal mode to work properly. Also interesting is that if I take said editor and put it into the weapons folder or the main Wings over Israel directory, it ceases working, regardless of compatibility mode or not. Could this weird issue be what is causing the weapons to not work? I realize that is a lot to answer but if any of you awesome guys on here could be of any help, I sure would appreciate it. Also, worth noting is that I have read the "guide" in the how to section on weapons and that doesn't really help me, I need it more in depth, thanks.
  8. Can I mod it in exactly the same way as Wings over x? Can weapons be modded the same way can I go into the the ini and add 50 internal guns and then set them all to 100mm tank rounds that fire at 10000rpm? Im just giving examples of crazy that I can make happen in wings over israel if I mod it. Can basically do anything I could want, if I can do that in SF2 as well, I might give it a try, Wings over Israel is all i know tho so it would need to be similar.

  11. How would I go about increasing the speed of the aircraft, as in the top speed at altitude, without increasing the overall thrust. For example, there are 2 planes I know of right now, that seem pretty gibbled in terms of speed, regardless of what I set the thrust to. Those are, the F35, and the J10. What would I need to change in order for these planes not to hit a barrier? The j10 seems to hit one at mach 2.10. The F35 much earlier. I know how to change the mach limit, so that isnt a problem. Both mach limits are at mach 3, I dont wish them to go that fast, I wish to solve the barrier which prevents them from going very fast. Also flaps are not an issue. Where in the flight model can I change the characteristics to make it say, more aerodynamic, while still mantaining the overall flight model. I have no experiance with flight models, I am no expert on planes. Im just a guy who likes fast jets. So any help from the experts who know about all this stuff would be appreciated. Perhaps too see what I am talking about, fire up wings over israel, or wings over europe or w.e you have. Put the flight sim on normal difficulty. DL the j10 and get it to above 15k meters with full after burner. You will see, that regardless of even good increases in thrust, and obviously with the mach limit set high, it hits a wall around mach 2.1 . I wish to be able to solve that.   13. Well. That was a failure, no higher top speed, and I can turn in a circle at sea level at mach 1.6 without losing speed, its a very small circle....
  14. Much harder than I thought... I have already increased the thrust by a large amount. And increased its ceiling. The only thing I messed with so far is CDL in the flight part, I made it all pretty much zero. Right now at 19k meters it tops out at 2.23. Gonna see if the CDL did anything.
  15. Ok so I made my own custom Aim 9 X sidewinder. It is a little bit updated, a little better. It lauches and travels faster giving it a slightly longer range, and also has better seeking capabilities. Only problem is, the tone will randomly change while flying when i have them selected. If i fire one, boom, it doesnt even move it just kills me. Bam and I was on a mission once. I have my MODIFIED F18 screaming in at mach 2.70 bearing down on like 12 migs, just like a peregrine falcon. I select my heetseekers and get the tone. I fire... And kill myself... I was quite upset... Is there anything in the weapondate I need to modify to stop this from happening? Even when I had enemies in front of me, it targeted me!!! Also I tested out the f15A BAZ that comes with wings over israel. It gets to mach 2.5 no problem. I downloading the strike eagle and it is the one that regardless of fuel or weapons starts to kamikaze itselft into the ground the moment it hits mach 2.2. Was wondering if anyone could figure out WHY it does this, since I have no experiance at all with what a flight model is or what any of it means. THANKS GUYS!

  17. Thanks but I dont think I have need as I think I solved it. I made the arming time only a half second and the min launch range 0.35 kilometers, meaning if it was targeting me i couldnt shoot it cuz id be too close. It was literally like before, it wouldnt even come off the rail. It would just detonate. Also you should try my Aim 9x hahahaha. Much better than the original I think. Besides that..... Early design flaw
  18. Hi guys. I had a similar problem with it last time i play this. Now its happening again. As soon as the F15 gets passed mach 2.2 or so, the plane starts to bank downward. It even overpowers when I full counter it by going upwards instead once it hits mach 2.5. This has to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Why are all the F15s doing this. I play Wings Over Isreal with simulation on normal. Could someone please test this out. I am in between 10000 meters and 15000 when it does this. Edit- Added note, please not mention anything like flaps, I am not an idiot and they are not set to take off or landing. Also the plane does this even with no ordanance.
  19. Hello all, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game many times over past couple years. I still enjoy it. However I have just downloaded a weapons pack, it is very large and has probably every single weapon, for Wings over Israel. My problem is that when I change something, the changes do not show up in the game. Yes I understand how to make the editor useable, but I cannot understand why the changes do not show up in the game, especially when I have triple checked that I have the correct weapon, and when I open the weapon data it shows that my changes were indeed saved to the weapon data. However, the changes are not showing up in the game. Very weird and has never happened to me before. Any ideas why this might be happening? Thanks guys!
  20. Hey guys, myself, I am more about fun. I have modded weapons (nuclear amraams and alamos, which can blast 10 aircraft out of the sky). I also like to mod the planes. Usually I'll take say, the radar from the F35 and copy paste into the F18, F15, and F22, F16, etc etc. I also like to change their max Gs, thrust output, change how much fuel is used, so that the extra thrust doesnt drain the fuel. Also change max inlet temp so my plane doesnt blow up. I have gone overboard a few times. My F22 can do Mach 5 without afterburner at 16 - 17k meters. However, some planes are very weird, and I am not sure if the makers did some of these things on purpose to prevent tampering with realism. My Su 35, can do 18000km at sea level, before the front veers forward into the ground. However, it remains unresponsive to the G mods, no matter what I do, increasing max G and increaseing turn speed, it will NOT turn sharper. What can I do to change this so it can. On the other hand, their are fighters like my F-18, and the F35, and the F15E strike eagle. The F18 and F35 have massive max Gs, not my own doing. I made the max G 4.5 on it, and decreased turn speed BUT it will still do 40 G's. 40!!!!!! Its really annoying at speed and altitude, as since I dont have a joystick, the slightest tap can send it into a 20+ g downward or upward bank. The F18 does this as well, but is easier to control, still, at full bank, it will do 30+G's. Annoying since I applied same formula as F35. It doesnt work. Then the F15. So far have not messed with max G and turn speed, well I have, but I dont think it does what the F18 and F35 do. However, once it exceeds its supposed top speed of mach 2.5 (at any level). It just like the Su35 veers into the ground. I wonder what causes this. The f22 does the same thing, once you pass 2000 kmh at sea level, it becomes very stiff, once you hit 2300, the plane will dont bank downward, then at 2500 it will barely move, once you pass this, the plane starts to bank upwards into the clouds, at 3000, theres no going back unless yur quick. The F22 also does this at altitude, althouth yeah it can do mach 8- 9 providing it has enough thrust once those kmh get to almost 3 k up she goes. Does anyone know, what I can do to fix this, I know its overkill, i am just experiment, most planes I like to keep at max speeds from 2.7 - 4.5 It is annoying not to know how to fix these problems. Also, I know how to work the flaps, and they are always retracted when I do top speed :) Also just a thought, the flaps on the F18 and F35 are automatic, I cannot manually operate them, do you think that at sharp turns (at any speed....... yawn) could cause the plane to have such huge g forces. Also i play on medium difficulty for air sim, easy sucks and hard is too slow paced for me. Thanks guys, take care.
  21. Well, as some of you may know I play wings over israel. I downloaded the B52D and B52 (cant remember), but i was a fairly large pack, 22 mb. So anyways I install it and make sure I put everything in the correct spot. But I cant see the plane..... When I start near target or in air. I wont even be moving. Ill have the bombs on the wings. But all you can see is the bombs. I;ll be in the sky at 9000 meters above ground, not moving. Were they for wings over europe or vietnam only and do not work for WOI? Also I installed the bunyap weapon pack. And the mirage weapon pack 2 for WOI i believe. Everything installed properly, it all works. At least I think. I was excited to see the nukes and what new capabilities they would provide. But not a single plane seems to be capable of useing them. Not even the downloaded ones. I might add that the B52s are supposed to be able to carry them as well, but the nuclear weapons are not on the available weapon list. What must I do to make them available for all my planes. Also I might add in the tutorials, it says in the planes available weapons to put NUC beside the others and that should make it work. Now on this install I have not tried, but it did nothing on the last one. Even with the tutorials this game is very confusing and still tough to get everything to work properly. Also, i dled the 30 megaton bombs from some of the available weapon downloads, THOSE seem to be mountable on my F/A 37 Talon, but they do not even show up as real bombs, and I cannot drop them. And I think once I did get them to drop, but nothing happened and they still do not show up there is nothing on the wings. The editor I use is the stock editer. Ive used the dled one from the site in the past and it looks and functions the exact same. My version of WOI to my knowledge as I just installed it again recently, is not patched. Any help from you gurus who know so much about the game would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.   22. I decided to mess with the engines and max mach and speed and everything of the plane to makea real beast, but I got a little carried away. Initial maximum thrust I made 70000, then afterburner 120000. Pretty fast but not as fast as I needed. So I kept cranking it up, and finally had it at 9 million pounds of thrust normal, 1 billion pounds of thrust 12 stage afterburner. I tell you, take off the air brakes on the airstrip, and on 0 % throttle it will take you to almost 1300 kmh (i use metric because knots are retarded). What happens when the after burner is engaged on full you may ask... Well.... Imagine acceleration to 140000+ kmh in about 0.05 seconds! That was nuts but i wanted to see how fast it could go, so i cranked up the after burners up to 5 billion. It went 360000+ kmh in less time, and got to the map borders in like a second. So i turn her around and go for it again, and BOOM, it crashes. LOL So whats the craziest thing you guys did, fastest speed... anything at all. Whats the nuttiest thing you did.
