  1. Well if theres no Disneyland in the old one then I'll have to figure out the new one, cause that is the only reason I got this scenery in the first place :wink: I just wont be happy if I cant put a big target on Mickeys back 29_4_70.gif

    Anyways I did download the earlier version today, but I will investigate the CTD dll PDQ and post it ASAP :biggrin:

    Thanks again for your support.

  2. You're not seeing all the error message...when you get the "send M$ a report" popup, there's ALWAYS a littlle tab that says "to see what this report contains click HERE" -- this goes for ANY CTD that is game generated.

    that will open a sub-window, and list the dll responsible for the fault. That's the info we need to know.

    see my post above. re: HeightField data.

    HINT: extract the data ini from the GermanyCE cat, and compare the top sections to the one in SoCal; that is, everything up to the start of the terrain tile listings. You'll see the differences.

    a note to EVERYONE: all the terrains I'm working on, excepting those for WW2, are built with the 9/08 & 10/ 10 Post-Patch world in mind. So, if you arn't patched up, you'll have to start learning HOW things work, and how to fix them.

    Stick: all terrain cats are listed in ALL my terrain mods, just commented out. All the End User ™ needs to do, is READ THE DAMN README, expeically the "Selecting the Proper Terrain Cat" section, and make the necessary edits.

    With all due respect I did "read the damn readme"

    -Selecting the Proper CAT file to use:

    Right now, as stated, it's set up to use the WoE GermanyCE.cat. WoE users need do nothing further at this point. Go fly! For the rest of you (SF and WoV), read on....

    --For SF & WoV users:

    Open the SCal.ini in your text editor of choice....

    As you can see in the example below, copied directly from the SCal.ini, all the needed cat pointer lines are listed, just not activated....

    [Terrain]

    TerrainFullName=Southern California

    DataFile=scal_data.INI

    TargetFile=scal_targets.INI

    TargetTypeFile=scal_types.INI

    MovementFile=scal_movement.INI

    NationsFile=scal_nations.INI

    BriefingText=SCal_briefing.INI

    DogfightFile=scal_dogfight.INI

    DogfightOnly=FALSE

    //CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat

    CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat

    //CatFile=..\VietnamSEA\VietnamSEA.cat

    Longitude=118.0

    Latitude=34.0

    You'll note the commented out lines for SF desert.cat and WoV's VietnamSEA.cat. You just simply 'uncomment' them - remove the double slashes (//), and add them to the GermanyCE line. It should look like the examples below:

    For SF:

    CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat

    //CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat

    //CatFile=..\VietnamSEA\VietnamSEA.cat

    Same thing for WoV users, but using the VietnamSEA cat:

    //CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat

    //CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat

    CatFile=..\VietnamSEA\VietnamSEA.cat

    You shouldn't have any problems getting it to work.... if you do, you've simply not followed instructions.

    It would seem that my in-experience may be painfully obvious to those more........experienced users, but I read this as saying that if I'm using WOE, which I am, that I didnt need to extract or edit any CAT files "just go fly"

    That being said, thanks for the help on which lines to compare and edit.

    If I try the older version of this scenery will I have similar issues, as the original was made pre latest patch?

  3. Between Warlocks PM and Lexx Luthers advise I have figured out to hold down the CNTRL button while I left mouse click to make all the waypoints (not one at a time like I was trying to do) Thanks guys that was exactly what I was missing :ok:

    So now I have saved my "test mission" in the missions folder, and I fire up the sim to go and try it out........I assumed that I would go to create a mission/load mission/test mission......Fly now. :no: Test mission was not one of the options available on the load mission page.

    So my question is now that I can make a mission where do I find it in the game?

  4. You DID read the supplied readme all the way through, yes???

    It's also designed for the "post patch world", as it incorporates the latest height field data readout.

    Stated in the readme:

    for prepatch use, you'll probably need to be editing out some lines in the data ini, most likely this section:

    [HeightField]

    DetailScale=1.0

    DetailFrequency=1.0

    MaxHeight=1000

    MinHeight=0

    you also don't mention if you're using XP or Vista ... if unpatched in Vista, makes a difference. Also didn't mention any error messages (if any). 80% is where the engine is loading the terrain objects ... search for missing items in you install. Since you say in unmodded, I'll bet real money you're missin something.

    I'm using XP and I get no error message just black screen for about 10 seconds, and then "this program has encountered a problem, would you like to send M$ a report?"

    If you know which lines I should edit, I would be gratefull. Would I maybe be better off looking for Socal #1?

  5. Thanks for the support guys, basically I am able to get a first starting point/airport however everytime I try to make another waypoint I am flatly denied.....over and over and over again :blink: in the instructions it says to edit the waypoint before moving on???? what exactly needs to be edited before moving on? everytime I try to make changes and (validate/save) the changes, when I move to the next waypoint I get nothing!!!

  6. So I finally got around to trying out the KMD mission editor.........WTF!! Could it be any less user friendly?!!

    Does ayone know why it has NO instructions, and for that matter where can I get some? Yes I allready got the KMD tutorial, but it really had very little valuable information.

    I looks like a great product and from what I've read.....it is, but without help getting started it's nothing more than......frustrating.

  7. It always amazes me when people complain about performance in these games.......When you compare these games to other simulators like CFS3, Lomac, Falcon, FSX, or even FS9............one of the best parts about this series of games is how well they perform, how smooth they run!!! Go try one of the others, then come back and lets have an informed comparison about flightsim performance.

    The pit in that photo is in the F-16E and F Block 60s only - in the TW series we only have completed F-16A early block pits - one from Mirage Factory - the other from Thirdwire that comes with WOI

    I'm really not that versed on all the specific models and what features they have in the cockpit, I do have the the mirage factory model with it's pit that looks similar to this one

    I like the look or the D model cockpit in my original picture, but I just cant live with the hud.

  9. there are a new one in workz

    too bad we can't touch it

    Please....tell me more?

    The only thing I did on that aircraft was the skin, not the HUD (I think this was actually my first mod). Just like everybody else had said, you can easily use another viper pit to replace this one (I would actually since this one was never finished). What you do is go into another F-16 folder that has a pit that you like. Copy the cockpit.ini, the avionics.ini, and the cockpit folder. Then paste them into the F-16D folder. Now there are two ways you can go from here. The first one (and probably the easiest) is opening up the F-16D.ini file, change the entries for the CockpitDataFile and AvionicsDataFile to match those of the files that you copied and pasted. The second way that you can do this is change the file name of the files that you had copied and pasted to match the ones listed in the F-16D.ini file for CockpitDataFile and AvionicsDataFile.

    I have yet to see another viper cockpit that looked more like the real thing

  10. I just read a great article on this very topic, it's two loooong pages but it's really informative about speeds, altitudes, timing, and tactics.

  11. I have uploaded a MAP and CMS file that shows ONE way to do it. (Awaiting approval.) It is not fancy but it does work. The one issue is that brakes are a toggle in TW sims and you will need to manually release the brakes the first time when starting on the ground. After that the toe function works ok.

    Kirbykern, I went and downloaded the file.......What do I do with it? :dntknw: I moved both files into the control manager/maps file. and when I open the CM program I can open the map and it all looks fine. But then I go to the game and nothing has changed, so a few instructions would be great

    Thanks

  12. Hello

    I am an avid flight simmer and have been for many years, one of my current favourites is WOE......I am thinking about trying out First Eagles, but I'm curious to know about running it on Vista because on the TW website it says that the game does not work in Vista. So before I pull out my credit card I just want to know it will work with Vista.

    Sorry if this has been asked 100 times allready, I did look through the sticky's but couldnt find any obvious answers to this question.

    Thanks in advance

    Rom
