  1. I remember it being tough to remove that text at first but most of that info is still available to you, you just need to get familiar with the gauges in the cockpit......just push through the first few flights and you will start to get used to it, you'll happier in the long run.

I like the idea with the afterburner text.... I have made sure that the planes I regularly fly have a really LOUD afterburner, that way when I when I push the throttle to the firewall I can feel it in my chest cause it's so frickin loud!!! That way I don't drive around foolishly using all my fuel by mistake.....and it feels really cool when you use the afterburner.

  2. So did you manage to get the text as a black dot, and no more text info displayed for planes, targets, or waypoints?...... Please explain what and how you got it done.

I had proposed the aircraft label text idea about a year ago but couldn't figure out how to get it working http://combatace.com/topic/72560-how-have-you-modified-your-huddataini/

    Please share your details

  3. Thanks MigBuster

So I am getting all my ducks in row prior to actually un-installing and I am looking through my D/L folder which has all of my setup.exe's for SF2 they are all there except SF2 expansion pack 2......does anyone know the exact name of the SF EXP2 setup exe so I can maybe use the search function on my computer to locate it? it must be named differently than the rest of the setup exe's

Any help would be appreciated.....I dont want to start un-installing until I have it located.

    Cheers

  4. A fews months back I got caught up in the Avast problems with my SF2 install, and through the process of trying to fix things I ended up updating my fully merged install to July 2013 from April 2012......I wanna go back!! My game has become basically un-flyable when you get into any situation where there is alot happening around you. From what I understand this is related to the latest patch and my ATI graphics card, and I'm not really in mood to drop $200-$300 on a suitable replacement (Nvidia card)

My short term solution to this problem seems to be obvious.....re-install and leave at the Aprill 2012 patch level......So my question is....Is the best way to do this to just re-name my mod folder, un-install the games, re-install the games, start them all to create new mod folder, and then re-rename my old mod folder back to it's original name and copy over the new exe files from the newly created mod folder?.....Am I missing any steps?

I am worried about messing up my favourite stand alone installs like SF2VXP and ODS

Any advise before I do this would be appreciated

    Cheers

  5. Thank you, I will give it a whirl. I've had issues with the Saitek programming software ever since I changed from XP to Win7. I am reloading the driver and "Smart Technology" software. My stick works, just only 1 mode. All buttons are driven by editing the in-game profile, therefore I don't have the modes working. Your profile is fairly close to my setup (excluding the modes of course).

I was able to figure out how to change the PTT assignment in the SHOOT profile, and then assign that button to the X54, but it's not working. I think it's because I don't have the profile software running. Hopefully these downloads can fix it this time.lol.

Be sure to get the SST program from the Saitek site not just the disk that the unit shipped with

  6. Well, since I'm SUCH a noob, I was able to fly and try it out, and what-do-you-know it works! I just need to practice what phrases really do what, and assign a joystick key to the PTT, but this is fantastic! Now with a 50" screen, Track IR5, Saitek X52 Pro, and the voice command, wooo-whee!

Oh, how can I change the PTT button in the Shoot program?

Today's your lucky day......this profile should give you control over the coms.......and a bit more

  7. Did you run through the windows voice recognition tutorials? They help teach your computor to understand how you speak.

Once you have done that then you can open up the program and load the SF2 profile and then just run through some of the commands, if you say it clearly it will show what you have said in writing and it will show the key presses it sends to the game.

Also, try putting a 'slight' pause between the phrases

    " control... Vector target"

    " flight one... Engage air"

    " Wing.....attack my target"

You need to speak clearly and deliberately. I have it working on at least 90-95% of my commands, and if it misses one it almost always gets it when I repeat it.

    Hope that helps

  8. Welcome to CA

These games really are designed to be installed together (merged)......... then inside your mod folder you will have folders for SF2E and another for SF2I into which you can put all your mods. I actually run most of all my mods just through SF2E that way everything is accessible through one exe. file.......exept for total conversions like ODS or Vietnam with the expansion pack.

You might want to have a good look through the knowledge base http://combatace.com/forum/268-thirdwire-strike-fighters-2-series-knowledge-base/

    Hope that helps

  9. Hey Streakeagle .....I don't think anyone would argue your level of experience or your contributions to the combat flightsim community, you have the well earned respect of most of the community including from myself......I found your response to the OP to be very abrupt and dismissive which I always feel is un-necessary and un-helpfull, especially when the questions are coming from a relatively new member to the community.

When people ask questions about limitations of this platform we need to encourage them to understand the limitations and work around the frustrations that we all share on many levels with this platform....... But to tell new members to be happy with what you get or go back to where you came from........sorry, but with all due respect you are not helping to support this platform.

And that's what this forum is for

  10. Hey Geary
you defineatly need to speak clearly and deliberately, I always leave a slight pause between each statement " Control...Vector Target", "Flight one...Engage air", "Flight two...engage ground" If you look at the Q-card that I uploaded with the profile you can see the way the program hears what it needs to hear in order to press the correct keys for you.

A good way to get used to how to speak at the program is to open up Shoot and load the SF2 profile and then just practice while looking at the GUI for shoot....If it understands you it will show the phrase and the keystrokes, this way you can tell when you are saying it clearly enough.....and no one else in your flight will be listening and snickering at you.....while some mig hands you your ass.

It's also a good idea to print out the Q-card and keep it close by until you get used to exactly what the phrases to use are.

Hope that helps....Let me know how you make out.

    Cheers

  11. Hey ace

There was nothing wrong with your question.....and there is nothing wrong with asking questions.

Seems odd to me to have someone who has clearly moved on to other platforms poke their head in here and take a shot at you for asking a fair question......perhaps wherever SE has been hanging out lately they aren't as civil towards each other as people still are over here in the SF2 forums

  12. Hey Geary

It's to bad you are having trouble getting Shoot to run with SF2, I am running 64bit vista and it runs great so I don't think that 64 bit Is the issue......Did you take the time to run through all the voice tutorials within windows before using the program with SF, as tedious as the training is, it makes a big difference how well the program runs.

It is very simple and very effective within the game and if you can get it going I am sure you would like it.

  13. Romflyer,

Do not understand how to make this work ...

I unzipped the file and placed it were you said but ...but do not see the green button you speak of ...

I have the X.52 pro do I have to place the .pro into the Saitek directory?  I am use to those being a .dat file

    Bobby

I am pretty sure that updating your SST program from Saitek and then placing the .pr0 as per the instructions will get you going

Let me know if that helps

    Cheers

  14. SF2 X-52pro profile

This file is designed to be used with a default control ini. so if you have made significant changes to your controls button assignments then you should move them away from the controls folder within your mod folder and then start the game and let it create a fresh "default.ini" in the controls folder prior to trying this profile.

To install just place the "SF PITkey.pro" into your 'C:/user/public/documents/saitekSD6 profiles' folder then activate the profile with the little green icon in the bottom right corner of of your lower taskbar.....start the game and assign your axis and you should be good to go.

you will have 3 modes NAV, A-A, A-G.

Hat #1 works the radar regardless of which mode is selected

    Hat #2

•(NAV mode) cycles waypoints and also enables elevator trim

•(A-A mode) cycles visual air targets

    •(A-G mode) cycles ground targets

    Hat #3

    •(A-A mode) Cycles A-A weapons

    •(A-G mode) Cycles A-G weapons

Everything else is not effected by which mode you are in

See the attached JPEG which better explains where everything is on the layout.

    Enjoy

    Cheers
