What would SF need to be considered a "Hardcore" s
biosurge replied to Hedu VF-143's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
i agree with the carrier ops...and a vietnam campaign too. after all looking at the iraq war where did a lot of the fighter bombers come ..the aircraft carriers. a nam style scenery with dynamic ground campaign would put this game at the same, actually higher level than falcon 4.0. i really enjoy flying strike fighter, i find it to be the best sim for general playability, ease of operation...ok maybe too easy, unless your in hard mode. and as for multi player, while i like to do this once in a while, that is not the driving force for me to play a game..maybe i am nuts, but after a hard days work, few thing in life give me as much pleasure than having my ai wingman and me take out a couple of airports and fuel dumps. then call it a night after dinner. now if we could just see the people scatter we are shooting at.....biosurge -

biosurge posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
OK, ANYONE OUT THERE IN SIM LAND HAVE A FIX FOR THE CTD IN STRIKE FIGHTER OR AM I THE ONLY ONE HAVING THE PROBLEM>>>>>>>>I SOME DAYS I CAN ONLY FLY FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES, OTHER TIMES, I CAN GET THROUGH A MISSION ONLY TO HAVE IT CRASH WHEN I AM HEADING BACK HOME...I ACTUALLY HAVE 2 ISSUES. THE CRASH TO DESKTOP, AND A LOCK UP WITH THE SOUND STUTTERING...CAN BE VERY ANNOYING. I HAVE TO RESTART FOR THE LATTER. OTHERWISE THE SIM IS GREAT TO PLAY....RUNNING AN AMD 2100, 512 DDR RAM, 100 GIG WESTERN DIGITAL, SOYO BOARD, ON BOARD SOUND, LAN, WIN 2000 PRO. NO OTHER PROGRAMS EXCEPT FOR MICROSOFT FLIGHT 2002, AND THE USUAL WINDOWS STUFF. THANKS IN ADVANCE JOE BIOSURGE -

biosurge replied to biosurge's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
oh, this might be of interest to some...i downloaded the drivers from the leadtek site. not nvidia...it seems to have stabalized the system somewhat. this leads me to believe it is the vid card. i am not sure what the drivers have in that is different from the nvidia site. in the past i always thought of the nvidia drivers as being pure if downloaded from nvidia site. and if i go to the manafacturers site they were stuffed with extras that the individual company wanted for the card. i may be wrong..thanks joe biosurge -

you got it..already changed out the ram...my next will be to send in the video card..i am overclocking the amd by 300 mhz....will put it back to factory specs..i think that the first time this showed up i was not overclocking though...i am not overclocking the vid card..it seem to run fairly hot anyway..i have an antec case with 5 fans...sounds kinda like a tomcat taking off an aircraft carrier when it is running but adds to the effect.. :). thanks for all the help..i am much less frustrated now...hey maybe the wife will let me upgrade???? naw.....joe biosurge -

dagger, thanks for the advise,,,,,i have been able to duplicate the problem with flight 2002...sooooo. looks like it is not the game...right now i am wondering if it sisthe video card...when it crashes, i get a blue screen with a rather long error message. basically telling me that it had to do a memory dump. i think it also said something about an irq conflict..i will have to go back and write it down in detail...all the years i have worked on other peoples computers i have never been stumped like this...thanks joe -

uncontrolled bouncing on landing
biosurge posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
i am having a problem with uncontrolled bouncing on landing unless the landing is on auto pilot (btw, the landing on auto pilot is off several degrees from centerline and the plane makes a miracle adjustment when it hits the runway). i cannot control the plane at all and will usually wind up in a nose stand or wing stand as pieces start tp fly off.. it can be very frustrating to have a great mission only to have the end either auto pilot or a disaster...anyone else comment???? -
