  1. OT-f-35 Sea Trails

I get to see this thing a few times a week on the base where I work. Being a rotor guy I must admit it is impressive in a hover, noisy as all hell but impressive none the less. Interesting that the USS Wasp got the nod for this. I was able to be a part of the inital sea trails of the V-22 onboard the USS Wasp many years ago.
  2. As has already been expressed Pol, the more we see the more thankful we are of the level of detail you and the rest of the team have incorporated into OFF2. I like the others am on the edge of my seat in anticipation waiting for the release. A question. Has the team been able to invest that level of attention into all of the aircraft?
  3. OT-Verdun Medal

Found something similar to CV above: The Verdun medal was created on 20 November 1916 by the Municipal Council of Verdun to commemorate the heroism of its defenders. Originally intended to be awarded to those who served on the Verdun front between 21 February 1916 and 2 November 1916, the medal was, in fact, awarded to those who served anywhere on the Argonne and St Mihiel sectors between 31 July 1914 and 11 November 1918. The original, and most commonly found, version was by Vernier but since supplies of this medal were inadequate, others created Verdun medals and at least seven versions of varying rarity are known, including this, probably the second rarest version, by Augier. Between 21 February and 19 December 1916, some 70% of the entire French army by rotation fought in defence of Verdun. The Battle was the pinnacle of the truly appalling strategy of attrition, the town with its forts being attacked by the Germans in the certain knowledge that the French command would have to do whatever was necessary to defend it and with the aim of ‘bleeding France white’. In the event, French losses of 120,000 dead and 260,000 wounded were almost equalled on the German side and by the end of 1916 the French had regained all the ground they had lost earlier in the year. Still trying to hunt down the ribbon.
  4. Many thanks to Olham

I offer up in honor of his contributions: OFF2-"Olhams Canvas Glory!"
  5. OT My Favourite War Film

That looks amazing 33 - have you guys ever heard of the "Ohka"? Not to take away from the thread. I first saw one at the Marine museum during my first tour with HMX at Quantico, VA (1980). I was always amazed at the sacrifice the Japanese pilots made with their aircraft, this took it to a whole new level. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN4fZcXrkiY
  6. OT My Favourite War Film

I did forget these! My sons got into them big time a few years back. Seven Samurai and Yojimbo were my favorites.
  7. OT My Favourite War Film

Paths of Glory Blue Max 12 O'clock High Patton Red Badge of Courage Platoon Gallipoli The Deer Hunter All Quiet on the Western Front The Big Red One Das Boot The Thin Red Line Empire of the Sun MASH Full Metal Jacket Apocalypse Now ......how can you pick just one?
  8. My exact sentiment. I am hoping that some of the things I have done will roll over but haven't been inspired much until OFF2 appears. Then I am hoping that I catch fire and start contributing more.
  9. War Horse: The Real story

A number of us retired Marines had been passing around the video of Sgt. Reckless (War horse). Not WWI but none the less inspiring. Link attached. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=YIo3ZfA9da0
  10. During one of my Hawaii tours a sister squadron had a CH-46 that entered ground resonance when they taxied into a closed "hot" pit and lifted the nose and attempted to back taxi out. The entire event lasted less than what you see in the video. No one was hurt but by the time they realized what they were experiencing the aft pylon of the aircraft had completely detached. If I recall properly the crechiwef never flew again.
  11. Which GTX 580 3072mb?

Pretty decent article comparing the 560 to the 7950. http://www.dailytech.com/GeForce+GTX+580+Slayer+Radeon+HD+7950+is+Cheaper+Faster+Than+Its+Foe/article23894.htm
  12. Skinning

Damn you Carrick! After reading your post I dug up a SPAD template I had been constructing and spent 3 hours on it again last night...... and I am not anywhere near done. It has a gazillion layers already and I haven't begun to add markings and paint!
  13. Does P4 get it's own name?

Over Flanders Fields: "The Next Hurrah" We meet ’neath the sounding rafters, The walls around us are bare; They echo the peal of laughter; It seems that the dead are there. So stand by your glasses steady, This world is a web of lies. Here’s a toast to the dead already; Hurrah for the next man who dies. Cut off from the land that bore us, Betrayed by the land that we find, The good men have gone before us, And only the dull left behind. So stand by your glasses steady, The world is a web of lies. Then here’s to the dead already, And hurrah for the next man who dies. ---- anon
  14. Keep at it Polovski..... we can wait two more weeks!!
  15. Ok, I have been sold for some time now. All I need to know is where is the option to go ahead and pay for OFF2 now?
  16. Picked up a 3 TB drive at Best Buy today and was so tempted to pick up the Nvidia 560TI. Was a bit pricey and my ATI 5770 handles everything I do very well. Decided to wait awhile longer and see what the prices do.
  17. Ok, I see the differences between the upper panels and the side. It struck me differently at first.
  18. Olham you are a wizard as usual. If I may hunbly offer one critique. The plywood appears to be one continous panel based on the color bands running through the port side. Shouldn't each panel differ? A not related question if anyone should know. Will P4 offer us a set of generic templates to allow those of us interested to explore our creativity?
  19. Does P4 get it's own name?

Over Flanders Fields "Conquest of the Sky" Over Flanders Fields "The Hunters and The Hunted" Over Flanders Fields "Courage, Valor, Victory" Over Flanders Fields "Dawn of Aces"
  20. Does P4 get it's own name?

    Over Flanders Field: Canvas Knights
  21. Yo!

Yeah I think he did, but he may have crapped in your foxhole!
  22. Now that is hardcore! .....and a great idea. I have 130 hours invested and a long way from complete but I like the idea of a DiD campaign. As far as RoF. I find myself intrigued, drawn to the appearnace and some of the new features. It just doesn't maintain the attraction the OFF does and personally I think that once P4 is published it will draw enough attention to really show some others just how much is not available in RoF.
  23. 50th Birthday today
