Hey thanks a bunch, guys.
-
I suppose you spoke directly with the Pilot/Gunner then.
-
This entire film reminds me of watching clouds as a kid. We laid out on the grass looking up and we all saw different shapes in the same cloud. Face it, none of us were there. Second and third hand knowledge means nothing. Only the Pilot and Gunner know what they saw and how they interpreted it based on the situation. Looks like an RPG or looks like a camera - looks more like an opinion. None of us here are qualified to dissect that video properly unless we have the Pilot/Gunner give us a play by play. What is real is that we all get to see a tiny glimpse of why war is ugly and brutal. Those that choose to be in the midst of it do it with the full knowledge that there is a real chance that they will not be coming home. I'm sure those reporters knew there were no health packs or do overs if they got into trouble.

Permission Needed

I can make you a prop texture that you can use PERMANENTLY. PM me with the details. -
...Pilots?
Old Diego replied to SidDogg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Drop tanks don't have animations. You will lose the head movement. In order for the drop tank texture to be in the skins folder, it must be part of the model. Otherwise you will have blank textures. -
I think it might have something to do with sarcasm. I think its pretty damn good.

...Pilots?
Old Diego replied to SidDogg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Short answer - no. -
Well, Dave, they just opened a 5G over here by 410/Culebra and if it sucks, you will have to figure out a way to send me a triple/triple, animal fries and a t-shirt from In-N-Out. Its been 3 years since I've lived in SoCal so my taste buds might be dulled out from all this Rudy's BBQ.

Better than In-N-Out? Impossible.

ObjectData00x.CAT am i missing 005 maybe?
Old Diego replied to squid's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Never found a 005 CAT either. I guess everything is fine. -
Could they have chosen a more fitting picture of Daddy? It looks like someone purposefully tried to find a death image.

Why have some modders gone to payware?
Old Diego replied to Dogzero1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Poor quality? I've not seen any around here but you can always go scroll page after page on the MSFS payware sites. I use the TMF standard as my personal goal. In my opinion, we've been extremely lucky they haven't charged one cent for their efforts. -
Why have some modders gone to payware?

One only need to look at The Mirage Factory and all of their freeware to totally nullify that statement. Please keep in mind that there are various levels of quality in both camps. -
Why have some modders gone to payware?
Old Diego replied to Dogzero1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You asked the question why some modders go payware. I can only answer for myself. I, like many of you, have other obligations and time constraints. Modding for this game started to become an appendage to my real life. Many modders know the expense, time and effort to make just one object of better than stock quality. I came to the realization that I would like to be compensated for some of that. I am making enough to compensate myself for documentation, books all the extra little "stuff" that drains the wallet. Whatever OverKill makes goes right back into the next project. You won't find us making any money off of other modders freeware or outright stealing it and reusing it over and over. Whatever you pay for is clean. I never went one way or the other. I make payware and you can still find my work in many freeware mods out there. I'd like to dispel any notion that simply because one sells a mod, it somehow magically reduces the amount of love that goes into creating it. For that matter, all freeware is not sprinkled with a love enhancing elixir. The two coexist and should coexist here as long as there is a mutual respect. -
First Eagles 2 Release Build Screenshots (big)

Hi Dan. Can you show some better screens of the bump mapping? I can't see anything obvious. -
Problem: 3d Mesh frame is visible in game
Old Diego replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Look at THIS link for the mesh fix. Its important that you make your changes in the Nvidia Control Panel to override any Thirdwire application. -
Problem: 3d Mesh frame is visible in game
Old Diego replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I got rid of it by upping the Anti-Aliasing to 16X...your mileage may vary. -
If I can use it as a larger ITouch, I'd be happy. I always wanted a simple bedside PC - a heavy clunky laptop wouldn't do. I think this might be just right.

Is there a way to get the AI to fire the FIRE_SECONDARY_GUN?
Old Diego replied to gregoryp's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
You know, that is a great idea Gunney. I never thought to use a turret as a "secondary gun". You just have to limit the cone of fire to match the primary gun. -
F-12 key Action view and other items of interest
Old Diego replied to Dogzero1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
My response on the subject is not going to be popular here or with TK. Just ignore my comments if they offend those of you who worship at the Thirdwire altar. I'm all for TK making changes and evolving his game. I don't see how anyone has ever given him business advice except when it comes to MP. Other than that, people have asked for this feature or that one. It will always be that way. What upsets me is in the manner in which he responds to his customers. Almost as if we were his children asking for something not in the household budget. Some of us have been asking for the same things since day one only to be told that he is a "one man team" or "not his idea of fun". That would be fine except we end up with things like Blue Tiger Enabler patches or Matrox TripleHead2Go support. Who asked for this and why do they deserve more resources than what many have previously asked for? Business is business, but why are the ones who have been purchasing every game TK has put out "to support" his development treated like they are being greedy children? I know, I don't have to buy anything. I do it to support him and the outside possibility that if I keep stuffing dollar bills into his wallet he will maybe, just maybe, implement a few of my requests. I am not feeling entitled to anything more than what he has put up for download. I am feeling more like some lame patron at a strip bar hoping the dollar bills he's stuffed into the hot dancer's bikini will get him more than a fake wink and smile. I think I just found my cure to this feeling - no more wallet stuffing until I see some titties. CA has always been a Thirdwire friendly place if not THE Thirdwire place. Why doesn't he post here? Even for updates or WIPs? I would like to see an in depth interview and a Question/Answer on him and his team. This might alleviate some ill feelings and shed some light on projects that are on the front burner. After all, Combat Ace is where most of his customers are. -

Nice screenshots of stolen property, Streakeagle. Is zero getting you to post screens over here now? -

All those suggestions sound great. Unfortunately, many of us have grown accustomed to hearing no or just plain ol' silence in regards to requests for expansion of the game. My two requests (helo FM and A2G turrets) will most likely be in the no category until I've shelled out the purchase price for every game until SF5 or later. Don't lose heart though, I'm always wrong. -
