  1. Well it seems I'm not the only one who has this issue. Anyone have any idea why it happens?
  2. Wow, sounds like the odds are stacked against the aircraft. How do you effectively defeat a HoJ SAM?
  3. I can't wait to try this out when I get home.
  4. Found it! http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=4714
  5. Sounds awesome, does it come with the necessary .ini's?
  6. They look pretty effective. When is this mod due out? A comprehensive Blue SAM mod would be a great and long needed addition.
  7. I've got the community weapons pack and Nike missiles aren't included. I checked the downloads section and didn't find any. Can someone point me in the right direction? EDIT: Nvm, I checked page 2. Thanks again!
  8. Hey, just be happy the hawks are back. We can tweak the numbers as we go. No doubt they are over powered, but it is a very good start. On a related note, I'm willing to sit down and tweak the numbers to make the hawks more realistic for a future mod. I have free time, so i can do the tedious work of testing and re-testing if anyone wants to go ahead with this.
  9. I think that's a great idea. I know we have a lot of great blue SAMs like the Nike, Hawks, Bomarks and bloodhounds. But its a lot of work to get them up and running. If there was at least a good tutorial on modifying the targets.ini that would be a huge help.
  10. In my experience it depends on what aircraft are loaded. Since the random mission creator pools from all the aircraft that are of hostile allegiance to yours it could be anything. I have faced Hungarian Mig-21s in VietnamSEA before.
  11. It was more of a side note. I'm very happy that we have working hawks. I'm sorry if that came across poorly. Great job!
  12. For me red is a real challenge. the SA in red pits IMO in general isn't as good and the CM isn't as effective. I think this shows a different stance in doctrine. Their waves of cheap austere fighters versus our few elite cutting edge super jets. Before today flying red in SoCal wasn't that bad. I would get low and stay low to dodge the sparrows and get in where my upgraded (and more realistic) archers would do the job. Now the Hawks change everything. I will need to work on my dodging technique, but I think that at best you can really only get one or two dodges before you are out of energy. I don't know how realistic these hawks are. They seem a tad overpowered for a missile system that we retired, but that's just a guess.
  13. It's a suicide mission. An Su-27 with multiple external ecm pods doesn't stand a chance. At best I can dodge 2 before I get smoked. That is all at medium to high altitude though. I haven't tried low yet, the random missions on SoCal almost always put you up high and I can never get down before I'm blown away.
  14. A very sad week for me (WARNING: RANT AHEAD)

It's sad to say, but this thing happens a lot. In a society when social change takes place, like woman's lib there is a tendency to over compensate. I think its called reverse discrimination. I'm sorry for your loss, I have lost close friends of my own, and although I can't imagine the pain of dealing with a friends suicide, I know how dark it can be. my prayers are with you. I'm not going to rant about the court system, or the morals of the wife, or anything like that, it wont help you at all. But we can rest in the notion that no matter what beliefs you hold we can all agree he is no longer suffering. Nobody deserved what happened to him.
  15. Cat s**t One

Leave it to Japan to make a Bunny themed Blackhawk sown spin off.
  16. I updated the files but I didn't see any hawks when I loaded a mission in the default Germany terrain. is there any other configuration needed? Do I have to modify an ini somewhere to tell it to have hawk batteries? EDIT: I just tried the SoCal map and they showed up and I saw one launch, but when I want to the debrief the only weapons listed were A2A so I'm not sure if it is actually working. At any rate they are closer to working than before, and that is good news. I ran it in SoCal for a second time and the Hawks annihilated a flight of in coming Mig-27s before I could reach them. The fireworks were fun to watch. Neither I nor anyone in my flight had to fire any weapons. The debrief didn't show any weapons fired again, so I'm not sure why that is, but the hawks are very effective. I guess now I need to figure out how to deploy them on other maps.
  17. I have Hawk radars, but no missiles. I don't know why they don't load.
  18. I tried firing a QAAM from a stock Mig-23 and instead I exploded. not sure what happened there, but the missile worked fine with Flankers. I haven't tried ti on a Flogger since so it may have been a freak occurence.
  19. Ok, I installed the SU-27 pit and I changed the cannon to the GSH-23 and everything seems to work. The FM did give me a little trouble and the gun isn't right but it works, and I was able to shoot down two blk 50 Vipers with it, so I really can't complain.
  20. Does anyone know of a good pit for this? I downloaded and went straight into a mission before I realized it didn't come with one. I tried to give it a Mig-21MF pit but for some reason it wont take it.
  21. Take two NR30's or similar. Increase their rpm and ammo capacity and make them very reliable. You would also need a new gun sound but that shouldn't be hard.
  22. The lasers would be easy. Most Red cannons shoot green tracers in the game. All you would have to do is pick one, give it a very large ammo capacity and make it virtually unjammable and you are good to go. I've been secretly waiting on an ID4 mod for some time. We have a Black Knights skin for the F/a-18 and what is more fun than to take it out and "kick ETs ass"?
  23. In the folder for the skin you will find a textureset.ini. It looks something like this: [TextureSet] Name=27th FS, 1st FW, Langley AFB Nation=USAF Squadron=27TFS Specular=0.650000 Glossiness=0.150000 Reflection=0.000000 Just change the values as needed and save.
  24. Sure they did. They were introduced in the late 1970's. The AMRAAM didn't come around till 1991. They had to carry something.
