  1. Hello. Im playing a full patched Wings over Vietnam with the excelent "Air & Ground Expansion Pack". Im flying a F-4C with the 555th Triple Nickel. Thing is, im having quite a lot of trouble to score any hit with the AIM-9E Sidewinder against Vietnamese Mig-21. They are not even tracking, no matter what. I have tried firing them from different distances (i used to fire them against Mig-17 from between 0.5 and 0.8 miles with acceptable efficency) and different situations (many G´s, few G´s, straight) but to no avail, even when the 21 doesnt break the missile just go down and explode. And yes, im getting a good tone before firing. Also i heard about how the ground (IRL) could affect the heat-seeking sensor so i have manouvered to get a shoot against a climbing target, still the same results. I know those missiles sucked, pretty bad. But i dont get why they were working against the Frescos but wont even track against Fishbeds. So if any of you could give me an advice, i would be thankfull.
  2. I doesnt suprise me to see them failing. I already knew how bad they were way even before i put my hands on Wings over Vietnam. What suprised me is how bad they work against Mig-21, since i didnt have so many problems against the 17´s.
  3. Thank you. Ill try to be more picky at shooting, take a few seconds before i decide to fire to be sure im in the most optimal position.
  4. F-4C, no internal guns. Flying from Udon Airbase most missions involving aircombat are escorting the F-105, so i need the three fuel pods. EDIT: Although the two missions where i could use the SUU16 i blasted two 17´s with it.
  5. Its late 1966, i only have B or E.
  6. I dont think its that tricky. In a F-4 you have a lot (but a lot, a really LOT) much power than the 17 F. You can always keep the airspeed and altitude way above them and attack at will. Off course it can get tricky if you fail and overshoot them, specialy if they have heatseeking missiles but away from that, if you have the patience, you´ll have the kill.
  7. Fatal crash

Its very weird. In Spain we have lost more pilots flying those Mirage F-1 than flying the F-104. I dont get it.
  8. I am already sweating and swearing about LBI and those damn SA-2. Everytime i have to fly over Hanoi i pray (i am atheist) just to be able to reach the target. Is LBII any worse?. Any advice to avoid them (besides flying low)?. P.S: Im flying a F-8E, VF-24.
  9. Heh, happened to me two times flying Strike Fighters (pesky Beagles), damn frustrating. Thankfully its not common on TW sims.
  10. Whats wrong with IL2 AI?. Just asking, ive never play it.
  11. I wont say it was a great mission but my wingman had a kill, it was a Mig, while airborne...with a bomb.
  12. dreaded tank sims anyone.?

For WWII the best is Panzer Elite. Long campaigns in Africa, Italy and Normandy. You can play both sides with a lot different tanks (Panzer III H/J/N, Panzer IV E/F2/G/H/J, Panther A/D/G, Tiger I, Tiger II, Stuart M5, Sherman M4/M4A1/M4A3, Sherman M4A1/M4A3 76, Sherman Jumbo...) and there is still people working on mods for it. And it has multiplayer too.
  13. He wants to install weapons and dont know how. EDIT: Now that i think about it, i dont know if he means just install them or make them appear on planes.
  14. Well, this is my first post on this forums, although i have been around for a few weeks, hope you like my idea for a character. Name: Matthew "Paladin" Calahan Birthplace: Los Angeles, California Age: 23 Experience: 2 years as a private pilot. No combat experience Description: -Very attuned with any plane advantages and faults. -Very focused while on the air. -Gets too emotional sometimes and thinks too much for his own good. -Friendly and open, can get too attached to people. -Being so naive he sees the world in black and white, good or bad. Son of a Korea war ace, he always wanted to be a combat pilot, having heard his father stories this was his only dream. A dream that was crushed when the USAF rejected him after they found he had a small degree of myopia on his left eye. Torn and heartbroken he managed to get a job flying the private airplane of a business man of Los Angeles. After hearing about the conflict that was threatening to rage on between Dhimar and Paran, he saw it as his last chance to fulfill his dream and become an ace like his father.
