Please, be serious. We all know with current technology, going to the sun in less than 1 night is impossible. I'm starting to think this korean journey to the sun might not be complettely true

I think this is more usual then people thinks. I've read "A bridge too far" and there were several facts that weren't seen in the movie and would make moviegoers think Hollywood people were laughing at them (of course, there was the "don't make the movie too long" thing too). And I think that's happened too in movies like "Black hawk down" or "The longest day"

Reminds me an old joke about a man charged charged with murder. When the police asked him what happened he said: Well, I had the knife in my hand and when I was near him, I slipped and fell on the victim's back, stabbing him... and the same happened the other thirty times.

Agree 100%. The movies made from his books though, I didn't like as much as everyone else here. I mean, I liked the books and the movies changed too many things for my liking (just compare Bob Ritter from the books and Bob Ritter from "Clear and present danger" movie)

I don't think allies would suffer so many casualties if they had invaded. BUT I think japanese casualties might have been much more than that, so I think the nuclear bombs were the lesser evil in the end.

Good luck Macelena. If you can make it, then I'll know at least a little fraction of the taxes i pay will be well used

Of course I know Superman has not scientific basis What I mean with "not making sense" is: If earth enviroment is what gives Superman his powers (btw, I'd prefer the yellow sun vs red sun thing, much easier ), why did the other guys have super strength while they where wearing their sealed survival suits? Remember, Zod only gets super sight, super hearing, laser eyes (or whatever they are) and fliying skill after getting rid of the breathing helmet. But he has the super strength from the beginning. There's also the problem of the time between Krypton destruction and Superman's arrival to Earth, it's never clear weather it was a sohrt time or several millenia. I don't need a Super hero movie to be reallistic (of course) but at least, I'd like it to make some sense.
-
I expected it to be much better than it actually was. Very good when it comes to fighting, but sometimes Jor El seems to be much more of a superhero than his son. Also, the explanation to Superman's powers doesn´t make sense (I'll stop here to avoid spoilers)

Perhaps there is really some kind of conspiracy, but I think a case of missidentification is the most likely explanation. It happened many times in WWII, so imagine what could happen with planes twice as fast and a much shorter time to see the target.

btw, do you know how many Academy awards did John Ford win with his westerns? (Yes, John Ford, 4 academy awards for best director. The man who said:"My mame is John Ford and I make westerns"). Well, the answer is: 0. Not bad, for the man who made Stagecoach, Fort Apache, The Searchers, or The man who shot liberty valance.
-
Westerns? Easy: John Ford+John Wayne. My favorite one is The Searchers, but almost anything from those two will do. From Ford without Wayne, my favorite is Two rode together, and from Wayne without Ford, I must choose between El Dorado and True Grit.

What's with the US and faulty avionics?
shotdown replied to GalmOne's topic in Military and General Aviation
That's because we are Spain Macelena. With the minnimal amount of money our country expends in defence, I'm pretty sure our soldiers will run out of ammo before any overheatting problems come. -
Haven't seen many but my favs are Operation Petticoat and the first Hot shots. I always said the difference between Hot Shots and Top Gun was that, unlike Top Gun, the Hot Shot guys knew they where doing a comedy.

Hard question. Movies that bad are usually forgotten before the end credits are over.

Magnífica colección, pero ¿seguro que son todos a 1/72? La verdad, que el Tomcat y el F-117 sean igual de grandes que el B-58 me parece un tanto extraño.

So I'm I the only one who liked "A bridge too far"?

Respect the established Expanded Universe? George Lucas reduced the existing expanded universe to dust with the new movies (actually, in some things he went against the original movies too), so, why bother?

180 years ago: The King is dead, long live the Nation!
shotdown replied to Capitaine Vengeur's topic in The Pub
hrc, I'm not exactly happy with my current king, but every time we've tried the republic, it's been far worse, so I'd rather keep monarchy, thank you. -
Laughed so hard, that I thought I was going to have a stroke!

Actually, I remember "IBM" 9000 spoke in a very ellegant way (even it's voice was cool) -
That guy forgot the UN people.

Yes, but in Casino Royale we saw a DB5, that's all. It was not a Q style DB5 (you know, smoke screens, machine guns, oil and that kind of thing). If the DB5 from Skyfall was just a DB5, it would be perfect (Actually, it could be the Casino Royale car).

f-16-engines-stolen-from-israeli-military-base
shotdown replied to dsawan's topic in Military and General Aviation
Since we are with the Tomcat, how difficult could be fitting those engines to iranian Tomcats?. If I'm not mistaken, late Tomcats used the same engine used by USAF F-15's and F-16's, but I don't Know how much needed to be changed from the original Tomcat design. -
My favorite 2012 movie is The Avengers. I liked TDKR, but less than the first two (I think Wayne/Batman should have more time on screen than he had) and also liked Skyfall, though I didn't exactly like their showing things from the old Bond movies (specially the Goldfinger Aston Martin). I just think this kind of things don't belong in this new Bond universe.

So, IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad will be completely independent of Cliffs of Dover or any other Sturmovik game, right?- 24 replies
