  1. If you do get/have Exp 1 then War For Independence is also recommended. I've a real soft spot for those early Brit jets and this mod lets you fly Vampires/Meteors/Hunters etc. Mod also has carrier support. Successfully landing a SeaHawk on the deck of a small carrier is one of the most challenging aspects of the whole sim (no HUD to help you out).
  2. http://combatace.com/files/file/10843-arab-six-days-war-ver-2/ Fly MiGs against those Mirages. Or Hunters/Su-7 if you like ground pounding. Highly recommended.
  3. Not had much time to fly lately with jobhunting and such. Anyway pleased to report after one year unemployed I've bagged my my dream job. Upshot is I'll be looking to upgrade the ol' pc in a few months. In the meantime some shots from War For Isreal. Bit dark so turn up the gamma.
  4. looks lovely. Ahh the Bucc, the most beautiful/ugly plane if ever there was.
  5. Trying to get out of the Virtual cockpit more.

lol, that's a shame. As I said, best exercise I can recommend. Anyway, after a session in the pool I always have that same sensation, maybe I was dropped as a child
  6. sorry guys, wasn't dissin' the E3, just our leaders lack of foresight. Stay indoors, everything is fine *buries head in sand*
  7. Hi all, Just wondering about the many variants of Mig-21 in game. Started the excellent Arab Six Day War campaign for SF2:I in the Mig-21F-13, found it very pleasant to fly ('normal' FM) and an excellent match for the Mirage IIIc in terms of maneuverability (although the ammo count is a very low 30 rounds; historical I know!). Realising the Mig-21PFM had more rounds in the centreline pod I started the same campaign again, and this time had a much harder time keeping on those Mirages six. So in real life and in game, did successive versions become less maneuverable, especially in the horizontal? Was this because of increasing weight? Also, it would be interesting to hear any opinions on which versions were most 'pleasant' to fly verses which were most combat effective in this theatre (again both IRL and in game). ps I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank the myriad of modders out there; I've only got SF2:I/SF2:V merged but the amount of fun I've had recently in campaigns from Suez to Lebanon to Rolling Thunder to modern day Israel is almost obscene. Bravo.
  8. Thanks for all the responses, some very interesting reading there. I've gone back to flying the F-13, she's a little rocket ship to be sure. A good match for the Mirages.
  9. LOL,,, and our defence minister saying our 'massive' fleet of seven(?) E-3's can do the same maritime recon job. Almost as bad as having carriers without aircraft.... idiots
  10. Trying to get out of the Virtual cockpit more.

Just a thought.. Ever thought about swimming? I can't recommend it enough. I started about a year ago when I lost my job, and I've been going about 3-4 evenings a week since. It's great because its non-impact, so after a good session you don't have aching joints and wot not. And you can go as fast or slow as you like. Granted, it's a little time consuming because you have to go wherever the local pools are (I'm lucky, there's an Olympic size 50m pool 10 min away, there are not many here in the UK), and obviously if you want to get outdoors it might not be for you. But it's very addictive. Almost as addictive as the virtual cockpit....almost....
  11. Some Suez action; Venom 1:Vampire 0 Falling Meteor Job done
  12. A few unedited shots from the recent SF2 Falklands mod.
  13. Lovely vid. I actually managed a few 'traps' earlier buy taking a quite step decent, bleeding off the speed using the thrust vectoring. Haven't quite got the hang of the near vertical landing as in the vid, more of a very slow conventional approach. Not pretty but it works for now. I also have the wonderful War for Isreal mod, I can happily land those superbugs on the carrier using the 'Hard' flight mode, but I still find this more challenging at the moment.
  14. I'd just like to take second to say thanks to all those concerned with the creation of this mod, its an absolute blast. What with being away for holidays and other real life stuff I've only just downloaded and done a quick test. Does anyone have any tips on landing the Sea Harriers on the carriers? I'm finding it nearly impossible. Flight model is set to 'Normal' and I've mapped the thrust vectoring to the slider on my X-52 throttle. I guess it's a question of practice? Lovely Harrier skins BTW
