Anyone with CTD ...
guyran replied to Crusader's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I've experienced significantly less freeze events, after updating my graphic card driver. So far only 1:6 missions freeze after hitting the esc key (1:1 before). Maybe this is a part of the solution. -
SF2 Expansion Pack 1 released
guyran replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I guessed so, by the two latest releases by TW. By this he is cutting the tree... I hope TK will have conclusions from this, and save us the bugs in the future. -
SF2 Expansion Pack 1 released
guyran replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Since the Mar2010 patch and now with the new Suez Crisis, looks like TW lacks good beta testers. I'm sure some of the veterans modders here in CA, could help TK in order to prevent such bugs. -

What about air brakes and flaps sound in all airplanes? I don't hear them. -

Enhanced SF2: Israel Terrain by CA_Stary
guyran replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
It's a stand-alone SF2:I. Previously I had merged install, but after the mar 2010 patch multibug problem, I've reinstalled SF2I as a stand alone with Feb 2010 update, without deleting the merged install. Maybe the coexistence of both versions on my disk is the cause of this behavior. Good job - looking forward for the cities update. -
Enhanced SF2: Israel Terrain by CA_Stary
guyran replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
I've found the solution myself, copying the new IsraelME folder into the core directory of SF2I, instead of into the mod directory. Should be located in Strike fighters 2 Israel\terrains along side with the original IsraelME.cat file. Thats worked for me, don't sure about others. -

I did follow the installation instructions, but my SF2I keep using the original IsraelME terrain, ignoring the new mod. I'm using Windows 7 machine X64. -
Thirdwire Series After Action Reports

This is a video clip from the first day of the six days war. The attack on Egyptian air bases. -
Which SF2 game is the best?
guyran replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Seems like SF2 Europe takes the lead so far. I've voted for SF2I not only due to local loyalty, but also for the historical accuracy, and the even matched air forces (except Lebanon war). My second choice is SF2V. The fictional campaigns are not my favorites. -
Red Alert - Vietnam
guyran replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
It is only a basic text editing job, of the *.ini campaign's files, to merge between the original Expansion Pack campaigns files with my Red Alert files. According to the freeware licensing agreement, every one can do it. guyran -
Red Alert - Vietnam
guyran replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Yes, it is. Here some screenshots from SF2v Expansion Pack installed: -
I prefer true historical, cold war era campaigns, over modern era and fictional campaigns. For this reason SF2V and SF2i are in for me, and the fictional SF2 and SF2E are out. My favorites are Korea, Six days war and Yom Kippur war. I think the all-aspect IRM attack capability like with the AIM-9L, and BVR capability (AIM -120 Amraam) took all the fun from classic dogfights. I never fly the Lebanon war campaign in SF2I, due to luck of challenge. guyran

Pretty cool skins. If you look carefully at the pics, you see 2 variants of P-51, B with 4 guns and D with 6 guns. Is the sf2 engine (unlike the late patched SF1 ser.) good for props? guyran
-
This is the P-51 Mustang from the IAF Museum. The first mission of the Mustangs in the Suez crisis was cutting the communications between Suez City and the Egyptian front lines by ramming the telephone wires using their wing's tip and the Mustang's propeller. I suppose the Mustang will be a nice job for the skins modders, when released.

Another wonder of SF2's AI
guyran replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
According to the stats in the debrief screen: 4 aircraft were killed by hits of cannon fire and one N/A kill. -
Another wonder of SF2's AI
guyran replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
You could be right, but I didn't fill any impact or any deviation in the flight path. There was obviously no damage seen on my aircraft, and believe me I've searched for any sign of damage. -
Transfer of cockpits
guyran posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I need a cockpit of Hunter to use in SF2I campaign. In merged install there is no problem, while in stand alone SF2I there are no Hunter's cockpits. Is it allowed to extract and upload TW original cockpit from SF2E into stand alone SF2I, in my campaign? Thanks, guyran -
