Cant wait! http://www.hunterteam.com/gallery/gallery_0056.htm Could be some interesting skins... Buccaneers dont pull up on take off they just pull up the under carrage and keep flying ;) I suspect that the modders have found this site but never the less... http://www.blackburn-buccaneer.co.uk/0_Contents.html Coloum 5, "In fact the A-7 is just as fast at sea level, has better endurance" This is'n strictly true the S.Mk.2B's range with no external fuel was 2,300 miles the A-7's by comparison, is 2,200 miles. The Buccaneer had an endurance of 9 hrs, i have no figures for the A-7 -
I have plenty in Il2, but in SF2 i have a recent mission which will stick in my memory for a while. 06:00 Mission from D8 Airfield (lovely name...) to hit a Paran Airfield Fuel tank. Loaded up my A-4C with 6 MK82's, cycled up and took off. Set cruise altitude to 10,000ft and trundled to the enemy base, while keeping an eye on the other flights inbound on various missions and the radio chatter. Approximately 18 miles from the target over the sea I spot four smokers on an intercept to my course. The mig 17s turn to engage my single A-4 so I decide to head for the deck. I throttle back a about 540kts and 100 feet, not wanting to overstress the bird. I watch in disbelief as a Mig shoots by and explodes upon hitting the sea, another mig bottles its run and pulls up and gives chase. Screeching towards the target i line up with the target, set the ripple to 6 and loose just before the target shoots underneath. My first bomb hits the target and the others strike the following tanks. With the low altitude and enemy flack the A-4 is hit multiple time, partly from the bomb blast and 12.7 mm rounds. I turn back towards base with the migs still behind as baggage with one airbreak blown off, no rudder and a plane looking like it been attacked by angry wood peckers. I throttle up to regain the bit of air speed I lost and headed back to base. After giving chase for another 30 miles the migs bug out rather than overfly the friendly airbase I was passing through. A bit moth eaten and damaged i managed to touch the A-4 down without a hitch at 06:45

Do you prefer F1 or F2 view?

F2 for take off/landing and manouvering, then F1 or F3 for combat. -
Boeing unveils new F-15 Silent Eagle
Hokum replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
I pretty much wish we weren't buying the JSF. I think some good british ingenuity, and maybe (just maybe) a true british aircraft for the first time in 40 years... I just hope we dont end up in the same situation as with the chinooks... -

Though competition is good. It will offer features the JSF doesnt. Would be good for airforces which already operate the Eagle. I wonder if thee are any common parts? -
J-10B! very nice fighter, love the new design!

Thanks i'll try the base size, the cat is the same in SF2 as its pretty much just a repack of sf1 with different textures and vista ready. -

Unless its an old SAA one and those are S.50 Wingtips? From wiki... "Buccaneer S.50 Variant for South Africa. Wings could be folded but folding was no longer powered. Aircraft could be equipped with two single-stage rockets (see RATO) to assist take-off from hot-and-high airfields like that of AFB Waterkloof in Pretoria, where the type was mostly based. " -
Vertical takeoff with Harrier - is it possible?
Hokum replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
One or two things, my friends dad was an RAF engineer, and I've talked at length about aircraft (he does RC stuff now), and the Harriers. The main detractors said "it could carry a packet of fags the length of a cricket field". He said it carried a useful bomb load further and with better accuracy than artillery. Plus he mentioned in normal flight the GR.3's were smokeless? Also that tornado pilots avoided them as they didn't like being made fools of by the harrier pilots sense of humour... As for the ability to work from clearings and car showrooms, the VTOL, STOVL ability are fantastic in urban warfare and COIN. -
Your Toughest Opponent
Hokum replied to Caesar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The 17 is good, its got almost the right mix for "dog fighting", it lacks when your talking about longer ranges though. Its like WWII, you dont want to get in a turning fight with a zero. Slash attacks with higher speed aircraft are the best form of attack/defence... -

The low level stuff is legendary, tumble weeds on the refueling probe, telephone wires wrapped around the tail, one even had a fish scales on the turbine blades after a low level sea run. They didnt find feathers so they think it hit a jumping fish! -
I've been testing many aircraft with SF2 (as i'm a new user) and i've noticed some have a bug where the shadow goes from one wing tip to the ground? This seems to occure on Wrench's F-86E-10 and (i think not 100% as i'm not playing it atm) Dave's F3H Demon. I'm not knocking the mods in anyway, i'm just wondering if i'm doing something wrong or is it due to the fact they were designed for SFP1 not SF2?

Thanks, Wrench, I didnt find anything on a quick search related to SF2 so i thought i'd at least ask. Thank you for your thorough reply. -

Any reason? Is it hard to model due to the blown wings? -
