The Illustrated BOC News, December 11, 2013
RAF_Louvert replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. Actually Beanie, I posted the very first editions of the Illustrated BOC News over two years ago: http://combatace.com/topic/66157-the-illustrated-boc-news-july-4-2011/ http://combatace.com/topic/66282-the-illustrated-boc-news-july-9-2011/ http://combatace.com/topic/66435-the-illustrated-boc-news-july-16-2011/ Then RL got in the way and I wasn't able to get back to them, but this is a VERY special occasion. . -

Old skins for new WOFF?
RAF_Louvert replied to tranquillo's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. I'll be cranking up my paint shop as well as soon as the new kites are on the field. Can't wait! . -
. Excellent write-up Tamper, thank you for sharing this info, it has already proved very helpful. RamblingSid, your new card sounds like it should do the trick and then some. Also, very nice of you to make your old card available to one of our fellow OFFers, perhaps Wayfarer can make it work in his current system and put his old 9800GT out to pasture. .

The Barmy OFFers Club: Have you what it takes to be one of the daft, the touched, the Barmy?
RAF_Louvert replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. Dej, I think something must have changed when the website was updated a while back. None of the images in my galleries display an image link that ends with the image type and it appears this suffix is needed for the image to be recognized in the signature block. The image I am using is not stored in the CA galleries but is parked elsewhere and it works just fine. Perhaps one of the CA powers-that-be, (Dave maybe), can help you with this. . -

. What image size are you trying to place in your sig block Dej? Can't be any wider than 500 pix and no taller than 200 pix. . -

. PINK! Gawd no. I think everyone who is displaying the old BOC badge should switch and use either the top version of the png you've just posted, (if they need one without a background), or use the jpeg you posted earlier in this thread. This will maintain at least some semblance of continuity. So, to review, grab and use this png image if you want no background; resize to fit your signature block: Or, grab and use this jpeg image if you want the CA background; resize to fit your signature block: Make it so Gentlemen, make it so. . -
. Great to see you here DukeIronHand, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and other here that have expressed this concern. I am waiting as well to see how my system runs WOFF as I am using XP Pro 64 which will also be unsupported this coming April. Slarti, what card are you currently running and does your mobo have SLI capabilities? I added a second card and went this route myself. .

. HumanDrone, no worries on the bar stock. The first half of the order arrived today from the local brewery, and the distillers made their delivery last Friday. We should be good until New Year's. BWOC BWOC BWOC! (or given what some of those barrels contain perhaps I should say Bock Bock Bock) . -
. MPD, eh Pol? I hear that. No you don't! You have no clue what he's on about. Yes I do, who asked you to butt in? Would you both just shut up! .
-
. I could be wrong about this but you may have to re-install OFF and when it asks for CFS3 so it can grab the files you would then load the DVD. Because you installed OFF using the CD version it now needs that to run. .

. I vote we make it official and adopt Dej's latest effort as our new club badge. It keeps with our traditions while acknowledging the newest OFF incarnation. All in favour say, "BWOC BWOC BWOC!" . -
. Many thanks for the update Pol, it is much appreciated Sir. Say hello from us barmy fliers to any and all of these fine gents when you talk to them next. .

. He is listed as part of the WOFF dev team as a skinner and historian so I imagine he is still about. But as you gents say, we've not seen him here in ages. .

. Oooh Matron! Is that a dodo in my trousers? Outstanding Dej, just beautiful, and I like the banner being situated such that one is reading it correctly. I approve! And hellooooo RamblingSid, good to see you're still about Sir. As to those turkish cigs, we've been into those for quite some time now. . -
I remember that forced relocation Jim, it was out of the blue and CA was kind enough to provide us a new home PDQ. I still say the move to SimHQ was hasty and unnecessary but it was the devs' call so there you go. I've moved on and accept that the official forums are and will remain over there but I will also still hang out here as well. RB3D had more than just one place to visit on a daily basis so no reason to assume the same won't continue here with WOFF/OFF. And speaking of that move way back at the beginning of '09, who remembers this parting goodbye to the old, old forums? .

20 mm Becker Automatic cannon on an Alb. D.II?
RAF_Louvert replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. I can see why this did not come into any kind of standard use, at least not in the small scout planes. If you think it's cumbersome to load a top wing Lewis in the heat of battle imagine trying to reload that big arse cannon, then further imagine the recoil stresses on that top wing itself. I bet you would also need to sight in your shot by first using your MGs just as the French did with the engine-mounted 37mm Puteaux cannon in the SPAD VII, (which only proved itself to be moderately useful to two pilots during the entire war). And there is no way in RL you could have pulled off those long, arcing shots with the kind of accuracy being shown in those videos. The plane-mounted cannons were meant for ground target attacks, not air-to-air combat. But hey, to each their own. . -

I am not surprised in the least Dej that you had already worked up a few test badges just to see how they might play. Ever at the ready you are. And I see you've added an exclamation mark to the 'tink...tink...tink'. So the great debate continues still eh? .
