  1. NEW TOYS IN THE WORKS

. Ooooo...new kites, looking very nice too! And I know what they are stumpjumper, but I'm not saying. Please keep us posted on their development Sir. Cheers! Lou .
  2. WWI explained as a bar fight.

. Everybody says it's time to cool down, except for North Korea who feels it's been completely ignored all along and decides to do something about it by pulling the chair out from under South Korea. At this point things have gotten so cold between America and Russia that they both think something is up with the other and they each start skulking around in the dark corners of the bar to try and see what the other might be up to. They've also decided that it's time to get the baseball bats out, just to have handy in case the other tries to start something again, which leads America and Russia to both go looking for the biggest bats they can find. This is all quite hilarious BTW. Cheers! Lou .
  3. Paul Blum's Story: A BHaH Pilot's Saga

. Thanks Herr Prop-Wasche. I thought the use of a few German words and phrases now and then, as well as historical characters and items would help to build the overall mood. Two more days of rain in the Alsace, so Paul and Karl haven't had much to do in terms of flying. Cheers! Lou
  4. Paul Blum's Story: A BHaH Pilot's Saga

. hee, hee...Paul's been back to the Palace already, and has returned to camp only to have no flights due to rain. But he did have time to write a letter to his dear mother before heading off to a party at the mess tonight, (refresh your browser if you're not seeing the latest additions to the page, Dej). I'm glad to know you Gents are enjoying Blum's saga. Thanks Dej, Slarti, and Creaghorn. Paul Blum's Story Cheers! Lou .
  5. Squadron Insignia/Logos

. Good examples of the logos and insignia tend to be where you find them. You can do a google image search for the specific unit and that will often find you something to work with. However, the biggest and best source at your disposal for doing the OFF planes are the skins that are already in your sim folder. 90% of the historic logos and emblems, (if not more), are there already and you only need cut and paste as needed. Good luck nbryant, and keep up the fine effort Sir. Your Spad is looking pretty darned good, but I would dial down the vibrancy of that yellow a bit. Just my opinon, but it looks much too intense for a Great War period paint. Cheers! Lou .
  6. . That should be enough power for what you are going to be pushing, Cody Coyote. I will stress one more item...lots of case fans, and make them big ones. I have four in my set-up, not counting the fans on the graphics card or in the PS. Plus I have a mondo Arctic Cooler on the CPU that also has it's own fan. Did I mention fans? You will want a lot. Oh, and one more thing...case fans. Cheers! Lou .
  7. Recommend Some Pedals for OFF

. SirMike, I have the same JS as you and added a set of the Saitek PZ35 Pro Flight Pedals to my system about a year ago, and I love 'em. No issues whatsoever and they have made OFF a completely different sim. I highly recommend getting rudder pedals, I just wish now that I hadn't put it off so long myself. Cheers! Lou .
  8. . hee, hee...more often than not I use the same method as Si to find 'em. And I agree with Waldemar Kurtz. If you want to fly ground attack missions get assigned to an RFC squadron, preferably flying the DH5, which in OFF is the only legitimate single-seater we have for the job. That kite is a beast when it comes to taking damage, and it is exciting trying to strafe the targets without flying yourself directly into the mud. "Have fun storming the castle, boys. Bye bye." Lou .
  9. . Dej, that is an exceptional painting and as you say, very evocative. I currently have it set as my screensaver. A few of my other personal favorites in the GAvA gallery at the moment are: "High Altitude", by Barry Barnes; "Harry Tate", by David Clarke; "Brooding Skies", by Ken Farmer; and "Ninak Over Pyramids", by Brian Woodhead. Cheers! Lou .
  10. I GOT IT! my OFF CD

. Woo Hoo! You're in for it now GHunter. Cheers! Lou .
  11. . If I had an IP that was worth squat, I would consider giving it a go. But my online gaming experience has been far less than enjoyable since my rural phone service changed, and the lag and drops are just too much for the time being. .
  12. Paul Blum's Story: A BHaH Pilot's Saga

. Thank you rabu, it's good to know you are enjoying it Sir. And, as you and Morris have requested it, I've included a family photo with the latest installment I've just posted: Paul Blum's Story Cheers! Lou .
  13. Flying time still not correct?

. vonOben, I may have neglected to tell you that you must also adjust the time in your "PilotXDossier" file, (with 'X' being the number of your pilot). The 12th line down from the top of the file is your total minutes flying. Change this to reflect your actual total flying minutes from all your missions and you will have it Sir, (I have highlighted the line you need to edit in the example below): 91 Britain RFC-46 2nd Lieutenant Testy McTesterton 11 9 1918 8 52 1312 10 8 1918 ........ Be sure to just enter the numbers with no comma when you exceed 999 minutes. Hope this helps you out. BTW, they call me MR. Anal Retentive, so I for one have noticed this little glitch since my first days of flying OFF. It seems tied to nothing in particular that I can find and just happens about 20% of the time for me. It however detracts from my enjoyment of this wonderful sim in no way what so ever, and I simply make adjustments based on my own "cockpit watch" and move on. Now then, waiter, about this fly in my soup... .
  14. No OFF for 3 weeks

. Welcome back tranquillo, I hope you had a great holiday. Your family home is absolutely wonderful Sir. I would love to see it for myself, but as that is very unlikely...more pictures please! Cheers! Lou .
  15. Paul Blum's Story: A BHaH Pilot's Saga

. Thank you Hasse Wind and Herr Prop-Wasche, I'm glad to know you are enjoying Paul's adventures so far. And I too hope he will enjoy a long virtual life. I have posted the next installment of his story, and there are new developments concerning his current leave in Stuttgart and his meeting with the King, (and Queen): Paul Blum's Story Cheers! Lou .
  16. 10 days leave

. Have a great time Widowmaker. And as I told Olham, be sure and bring us back some post cards. .
  17. OT: Fourteen Days Leave

. Have an excellent holiday mein freund, and we shall see you when you return. Be sure and bring us back some postcards Olham. .
  18. Burst Effect of AA artillery

. Bletchley, the devs definitely tweaked down the AA in OFF. I found out just how much when I was setting up my MAW OFF configuration and forgot to swap out the weapons files. First flight over enemy installations and the sky was literally filled with AA and I was hit within 3 seconds, and my plane was vaporized! Tried it again about 6 more times before swapping the needed files, all with the same results. The longest I could survive in that sky was about 30 seconds, and every time I was hit by AA it did turn my plane into tiny little pieces. .
  19. What OS are you running OFF on?

. XP Pro 64-bit for me. All of the speed with none of the glitchiness. .
  20. Watch this space!

. Oh Nooooo, Herr Prop-Wasche! If anything say a little cyber-prayer for him. He has a good start and he's my first documented German pilot campaign, and in a 2-seater to boot. Click on the following link and you'll see what I mean: Paul Blum's Story Cheers! Lou .
  21. The OFF Poetry Corner

. Certainly Olham, it would be my pleasure to help out with that. .
  22. Paul Blum's Story: A BHaH Pilot's Saga

. Many thanks Morris and Dej, much appreciated Sirs. Morris, I'll see what I can come up with for photos of Paul's family. His pilot photo I already have. Dej, please do get back to that Jonty Tepes' tale of yours and post it. Cheers! Lou .
  23. Dead is NOT dead?

. I've become a bit of a fan of the "Dice Roll" lately myself. There have been so many real life plane crashes over the years where people have walked away from wreckage you look at and think, "How could anyone have survived that?" Strange things happen sometimes. .

  25. The OFF Poetry Corner

. Olham, good on you Sir for the improved German translation of "High Flight". Also, the last poem you've posted is indeed very dark, and very powerful, even in it's English translation. I am betting it is even more powerful in the original German. Thanks for sharing. And Mike, thanks to you Sir for posting your "Man From Aberdeen" poem. Well done! Cheers! Lou .
