  1. The Shooting "Twitch"

    . Yes. Don't do it. .
  2. . vonOben, as far as I know, you can simply choose that you always want to lead and it won't matter a tick what your rank is. But if you do wish to be a bit more "historically" correct you should be at least of 1st Lieutenant grade, or above, to be given that kind of responsibility on a regular basis. Cheers! Lou .
  3. OT Your daily History Lesson

. Super stuff here Gents, love this sort of thing. As to WM's note about "piss poor", here in the U.S. we have the phrase "dirt poor" which was born out of our Great Depression of the 1930's and refers to people who are so broke as to not even have dirt to plant crops in, (the wind having blown it all away after years of poor farming practices). There was some debate years ago that the phrase actually came from Shakespear, but there is no proof what-so-ever to support that claim. What a crakcer jack topic, off the hook, it's so crunk! Hook me up to some more of this rad lingo, dudes. .
  4. . Hasse Wind, I KNOW Sir Nary has personally filed many of my claims in his "circular folder". Also, as I understand it, if P4 developes the Eastern and Italian fronts the BHaH International Board of Decision Making and Claims Approval already has two associate members on the payroll that will handle those areas: Yorgittn Dakysoff from Moscow, and Approvia Negatorri from Rome. .

. Dej, that set up is a beauty Sir. I am a big fan of mixing new and old, so what you have there is right up my alley. BTW, is the monocular a Barr & Stroud? Looks rather old and very military. I see you're a musical sort as well, what with the piano and tom tom. Do you play them, or is that yet another flair your missus has? And about your multi-talented and flexible wife...you'll be dead far too young I'm afraid. .
  6. . I believe vonOben was on the right track in his initial post. Bureaucracy... . hee, hee, hee .
  7. . Very good Ras, nice video. I purchased the full FRAPS edition some time ago and it was well worth the small amount it cost me, IMHO. Keep 'em coming Sir, and I'd be up for filming a bombing mission. Cheers! Lou .
  8. Life span of a Pilot ?

. bruce D wrote: Well Sir, I say set it up the way you will most enjoy it. One of the nice things about OFF is that it allows you to do just that. I personally fly with no aids of any kind and use an out-of-sim map to boot. But then I tend to be a glutton for punishment. To each their own. Cheers! Lou .
  9. Life span of a Pilot ?

. I feel your pain Bruce. War is hell, even on the virtual front. Like the rest of the folks here I have gone through more pilots than I can count trying to survive in the OFF skies. All you need do to understand the odds in this sim is to read though the "Krauts vs Crumpets" thread. It says it all, in spades. Best of luck Bruce, and keep at it Sir. Your pilots' longevity will improve, I assure you. Cheers! Lou .
  10. . Good Morning All, After a response I made to a message from Dej late last night, concerning the ins and outs of the DH2, I concluded it might be more helpful if I offered a running critique of the 3-on-1 fight I had. So, I have gone through and done just that: Hope this offers some insight for those who have not had much stick time in the "Spinning Incinerator". Cheers! Lou .
  11. . Outstanding Hellshade, and apparently great minds do think alike as I also just completed a video of a DH2 battle I engaged in. I purposely pushed my kite up to and beyond where you would want to push her on a few occasions in order to show how to get back out of the tight spots. I did not edit this in any way, and filmed it all by flipping between cockpit and fly-by views to better illustrate the DH2 tactics I use, as well as some of the mistakes that can be made when fighting in the skittish little bird. Cheers! Lou .
  12. . More beautiful screenshots here folks, as one has come to be expect from you talented lot of flyers. Cheers! Lou .
  13. Huge TrackIR Improvement

. Thanks Morris, but I would have to get back to my 1970's USAF 185 pounds of lean and mean to have any chance of fitting into that French tunic, (oh to be that trim again). Also, I personally would never wear the awards of another. I have no problem with folks wearing replica medals or even those never issued, when in a costume or role-playing situation. But to put on the honours actually presented to another just doesn't seem right to me and, IMHO, devalues not only the medals themselves but more importantly the acts of courage and sacrifice made by that individual which garnered him those honours. OK, off my soapbox now...carry on. .
  14. . More splendid videos there Hellshade, well done! Cheers! Lou .

. TKS rabu, it is a treat to use the actual watch from a Great War aeroplane when flying my OFF missions. And funny you should mention the chair Sir, I am looking into just such an item. .
  17. . You know rabu, I have tried repeatedly to save these projects in Windows Moviemaker at the same quality that FRAPS records them in, (which is superb HD), but every time I end up with a lower quality finished product. I am guessing it is a shortcoming of the Moveimaker software itself. .
  18. Huge TrackIR Improvement

. No need for the TIR clip on the kepi, those shiny numbers, badge and trim do the trick just fine. Now as to the watch rabu, it's actually this: An original Royal Flying Corps Mark IVa that I was fortunate enough to acquire some time back. It is tagged No. 4752AG on the face, and after popping open the back I discovered it is an Octava movement. Also, after a little cleaning it's been keeping perfect time and has become my "flying timepiece". For those who might not know, the Mark IVa was used in the cockpits of the RFC planes at the beginning of the War until they were superseded by the Mark V midway through 1916. This is the selfsame watch that pilots were told to be sure and retrive when they crashed their kites, as failure to do so was grounds for charges and punishment, (as if the poor sod didn't have enough to worry about when he crashed in No Man's Land). Cheers! Lou .

. Yes Olham, it's "Holy Schnikee!", and no I don't actually wear the Sous-lieutenant outfit. But it does serve as magnifique inspiration. Barkhorn1x, a wide screen LCD is on my list to Santa, and I'm doing my best to be good this year, sooooooo... Dej, I thought I had posted an update on the uniform project after I'd added the finished kepi, but perhaps not. Still trying to sort out the proper red trousers though. Now then, I don't know about being the better DH2 pilot, but we'll see how far S. Trevor Ravenscroft makes it in 24 Squadron. 11 missions so far and 23.6 flying hours, which is a good start I think. BTW, thanks Gents for the praise on the uniform project. It's been a labour of love for a while now. Cheers! Lou .
  20. Huge TrackIR Improvement

. Well rabu, I built a bracket today and relocated the TIR as per your instructions and it has made a marked improvement. A tad smoother in performance. But better than that, I don't have to "center" it nearly as often as I used to after a lot of panning around in a dogfight. Here is a photo I just snapped of my little flying set-up so that you can see, (amongst other things), the placement of the bracket on the top of my old monitor: Many thanks for this most useful tip rabu. Cheers! Lou .
  21. . Thanks Hellshade, but close? I could have had the boys slap another coat of varnish on the kite and there still would have been room to squeak by. Thank you as well Dej, and the shot with the engine exploding out in that fashion was all sorted through ahead of time...NOT. No amount of prior planning will ever replace pure dumb luck. Cheers! Lou .
  22. Huge TrackIR Improvement

. rabu, this is a great bit of info, and I will have to try something along those same lines myself and see if I notice an improvement, (though my TIR seems to be working very well, but that doesn't mean it can't be better). Dej, I too am very interested in seeing your flying desk. Sounds almost steampunk. Cheers! Lou .
  23. . Greetings All, Here's a short one I just posted in our videos. It's the result of being up far too late the previous evening, (oh me achin 'ed). Cheers! Lou .
  24. Camel Caper Over London

. Many thanks for the accolades folks, glad you enjoyed it. BH, I do have some vintage 78's, but I find most of the audio tracks online, and a very good source is at www.firstworldwar.com in their vintage audio section. Give it a look-see some time. Slarti, sorry to learn about your temporary grounding Sir. Hope you're back in the air soon. Cheers! Lou .
