BuB, if your aerodrome is located near a busy part of the front it is likely artillery fire you are hearing and not AA. The big guns would rumble day and night when a push was on. Cheers! Lou -

Yes Sir, it would be fun to have one of those fitted to an early RNAS seaplane and give a go at sub hunting. But I have so much still to learn and do with BHaH the way it is that it's not very pressing at the moment. Cheers! Lou

It is also referred to as "hate". I have run across this term now and then in the personal notes and diaries of the British WW1 pilots, as in, "They were certainly throwing a lot of hate our way this morning as we crossed the mud." Cheers! Lou

Steve, if you use CCleaner it will take care of all those nasty little bits and pieces for you, as well as old deleted files you no longer need or use. Here is the link for the free download: CCleaner I use it once a day and after all uninstalls. I highly recommend it. Cheers! Lou -

stumpjumper, I see you now have some very good pics to work off of for the bomb racks on the G4. I did find a photo showing not only the racks but also an experimental mount of the Davis recoiless large bore gun on the front of the bus, (intended to be used for night work and balloon busting, I don't know that it ever made it into actual service). If you would like that photo I can get it scanned and posted this week, (my scanner at home recently went west). So, will this new G4 also be sharing some air space with your Henriot over in the Italian sectors? And what is the status of that Voisin? Inquiring minds want to know. Cheers! Lou -

Winder, you beat me to the punch Sir. I was going to offer the same answer to BuB's dilemma. I have flown the Camel a great deal in this sim, and it is by far my favorite mount. Once it's idiosyncrasies are sorted out it is unbeatable. Winston, I don't agree Sir that the Camel has been made too hard to fly by the OFF devs. I believe it has been made far too easy to fly by every other WW1 flight sim. All reports I have read, (including a couple of the crash reports written by survivors), indicate the Camel was unbelievably twitchy to fly, and could and would stall out and spin in a heartbeat if you did the wrong thing, and generally speaking going right in any hurried fashion at all is definitely the wrong thing. A fair amount of left rudder is required all the time as well as forward stick pressure to keep it flying level and true, or at least as true as the hinky little beast can be. But it is this inherent instability that makes it such a great knife fighter. I love it. Cheers! Lou -

WOW! The dev team has done it yet again. Without a doubt you guys provide the best sim support of any I've ever seen. I am impressed by not only your willingness to listen to our feedback and suggestions, but also your attention to detail. For instance, I see we now have a bit of clutter in and around the hangers at the aerodromes: Very nice. It is the small things like these that make the overall landscape of this sim so immersive, and you would be hard-pressed to find vistas that pull you into the campaign better than than one such as this: Just one thing that concerns me. I fear there is either something in the water at Behonne, or the local peasantry has been far too isolated for far too long and the resulting intrafamily marriages are taking their toll on the overall intelligence. I mean, what farmers in their right minds would not only build their houses in the middle of a tillable field, but also plough up and down the hillside instead of across it!? Clearly something's amiss here. Cheers! Lou -
sitting_duck, that is the main reason I don't use mission builder at all. I grab an existing mission, open it with Note Pad, and rewrite everything in the xml format just the way I want it. Then when I save it and place it in the mission folder of the game it runs as I wrote it. Cheers! Lou

OlPaint, I am pretty sure I am using the calm sea files from this pack download: jUK Sea Water Files There are a few other interesting CFS3 items on the Combat Flight Center download pages that might work well in some OFF missions. Enjoy. Cheers! Lou -

BuB, I have played with those settings quite a bit with no real difference that I can see. The bigger difference has been when I try some of the other water textures available. For instance, the blue, calm sea patch that I am using for the Dardanelles missions is quite nice. Cheers! Lou -
Olham, if the AI Einie drivers catch you low they can really give you a run for your money. And even when they drop below you they can manage some impressive tail-stand shots that will catch you if you are not ready for them. If your Nieup isn't damaged you can dive away and steadily out-distance them, then climb and re-engage with alt. But if your little N11 has taken much of any damage at all you will have your hands full trying to evade a gaggle of EIII's bent on doing you harm. Cheers! Lou

Olham, I had to use the same tactics you described myself this early AM. February of 1915, and I was flying patrol along the Alsace front with Esc.48 in my N11 when I became separated from my flight over the Argonne Woods. As I was scanning the skies for my wingmates I was suddenly bounced by five EIII's from on high. I managed to twist out of the first volley of fire and affected some damage on a brace of them before I took hits to my lower port wing. Deciding that discretion was indeed the better part of valour at that moment, I dove out of the fight and took a heading back across the mud just as fast as my damaged Nieup would go. But the Einies were on me in a flash and I resorted to flying NOE for the next several miles. Twisting, side-slipping, and jinxing along throught the trees and ravines I made my way to a nearby friendly aerodrome, just as you did, and proceeded to fly about to get a few more shots into my attackers, as did the ground troops. I finally had to bow out and set down in the shelter of the hangers as my craft had become nearly unmanageable in the air. I then sat in relative safety on the field whilst the MG'ers did their best to fend off the rest of the EA's. Quite exciting really, and I lived to tell the tale, plus I got to turn in a claim for one of the Einies I had initially engaged. Cheers! Lou
