  1. SPAD was not the only one...

Waldemar Kurtz wrote: Actually Sir, there were several French squadrons entirely equipped with the Voisin Canon, the VC-110 being one of them. BTW, the "VC" stood for Voisin Canon, and when the 110 was equipped with Voisin Bombers they were the VB-110...the French were very sensible when it came to their escadron designations. Cheers! Lou
  2. OUTSTANDING! Yet another artist shows his true grit. Cheers! Lou
  3. That's a great looking plane Red-Dog, and any Green Tail worth his salt would be happy to fly her. Well done Sir! Cheers! Lou
  4. Medals?

Sweet! Paarma, you folks apparently won't be needing any info from me. Cheers! Lou
  5. Medals?

The WWI medal award system is very involved and convoluted for most of the air services, (with the exception of the US). I have done a fair amount of research over the past several years into this as I served as the RB3D 209's Clerk of Commendations for quite some time. If you would like a bit of direction on this at some point in the future I'd be willing to share what info I have. Cheers! Lou
  6. SE5a vs DR1 (video)

Great footage Jammer, and an excellent choice of music. Well done. Cheers! Lou
  7. Thanks for the kudos on the Camel skin folks, it is available in the downloads section if you would like to give it a go. (And ignore the "3" star rating on the download. I noticed last night someone had given it a "5" star rating and I clicked on it to see if there was any feedback and ended up rating my own skin at "3" stars. LOL! Chalk it up to arthritic fingers and a late night.) Olham, Paul Baumer was indeed a top notch ace and seems to be a very good "virtual" pilot as well. He got hits on me immediately when we met, but I was lucky in that he only punched a few holes in my lower wing canvas. I was able to eventually turn inside him and got a good burst into his engine and cockpit which ended the fight. It seemed like it lasted forever but I imagine it was only two or three minutes. Cheers! Lou
  8. I'd like to add my thanks again to the OFF development team. You folks have created a truly great WWI combat flight sim! Cheers! Lou
  9. Evening All, Got a bit of stick time in my new Camel tonight and was able to take a few screenies of an encounter with Baumer's DR1. He got some lower wing damage on my bird in our first pass but I was able to turn the tables on him and eventually sent him down. MAN...I love this sim! Cheers! Lou

Thanks Gous. I have finished up the final tweaks and weathering, and have just uploaded it to the Aircraft Skins section. It should be available for download soon. Enjoy! Lou

  14. You guys just cost me $1400 US!

uncleal wrote: Well I couldn't say Sir, and if it is I don't know why. I have been using it in the box I built strictly to run OFF and the next generation of WWI flight sims and it has performed flawlessly. I loaded it up, installed the service packs and tweaks via Windows Updates, and it has been running perfectly. It is not only affordable but is lightning fast and makes use of huge amounts of memory well in excess of the 4 gigs a 32-bit system tops out at. But then maybe I'm just lucky. Cheers! Lou

Slick Wilhelm, IMHO if you want the best OS for your gaming computer go with XP Pro 64-bit. It has all the advantages of a 64-bit OS with none of the Vista glitchiness. You can get a copy for $79 from Blue Surf Software right here: Windows XP Pro 64 for $79 I run this system in my new gaming computer and it is FAST, and troublefree. Cheers! Lou
  16. Letters from the front.

Another exciting tale! Thanks for sharing Siggi. Cheers! Lou
  17. Many thanks to Winder and the entire OFF development team. I echo others very postive remarks here about this sim and the support you folks provide. It is THE BEST! And I sing your praises to the uninformed whenever I get the chance. Cheers! Lou
  18. *HELP* fellow Skinners!

Widowmaker, I have noticed something similar to this when transitioning from canvas to wood to metal. Each surface reflects light differently so at certain angles you will see quite a difference in color shades. You can adjust this to some extent by tweaking the colors and hue saturation on each of the different surface. Was this the issue you were referring to Sir? Cheers! Lou
  19. ENTER THE DRAGON

Good Morning All, Before I head out on my latest business trip I thought I would upload some new screenshots of "The Dragon" to replace the earlier ones. I'd also like to share this overhead view so you can see the progress on the top planes of the bird so far: Widowmaker, you are oh so right Sir...this is a lot of fun, in fact for me just as much fun as flying this great sim! Keep slinging those paint brushes Gents. I'll get back to my project at the end of this week when I return. Cheers! Lou
  20. OFF BH&H Video: London Calling

Catch, that is fantastic! Great footage, great flying, and a Zep to boot. I too want that Hun gas bag...please Sir, may I have one to play with? Cheers! Lou
  21. Morning Widowmaker, The dragon skin will be my 4th OFF plane project. HOWEVER...I have likely painted at least 200 planes in RB3D. And I have to tell you, this is like coming from crayons on cardboard to a full set of oil paints and a life-size canvas. I am now able to do all the things when painting that I could only dream about in Red Baron. Cheers! Lou
  22. good sites for skinning

EXCELLENT! Thanks for sharing Fubar. Cheers! Lou
  23. I went with moderately hard. I currently have one active pilot over the 17 hour mark, and he is on his way back from Switzerland after escaping from a Hun POW camp. I had one other that made it to about 20 hours before going west. I don't consider myself a great pilot by any stretch which is why I chose moderately hard. Cheers! Lou
  24. Both! I fly campaigns just because I love 'em, and I fly QC to practice in the different birds and for testing new paints. Cheers! Lou
