  1. . Oh yes Shiloh, and quite well too. Which is a good thing as the WWI kites respond quickly to rudder, and it is an integral input for many of the maneuvers you will need to perform to stay alive in a dogfight. .
  2. . I have used that JS for the last several years and find it excellent for OFF. I have moved to rudder pedals rather than the twist function, but it worked very well for rudder control when I did use it for such. And Lewie is quite right about programming those extra keys for the more needed functions. .
  3. . I'm not as think as you drunk I am. .
  4. . Welcome to the virtual front and to the OFF forums, Shiloh. There should be an empty bunk in the hut nearest the south Bessoneau, so just drop your kit there and toodle on over to the mess. Bit of a Great War history buff myself, so sometime we shall have to trade opines concerning the cock-ups from the brass hats on all sides that led to this little soiree in the first place. As Olham has so rightly noted, I do indeed say, "New lads buy the drinks!" So be a good chap will you, and order me up a nice red ale with three fingers of Tullamore Dew parked next to it, and I'll be along directly after late morning patrol to partake. Might even be persuaded to enlighten you about the time I bested four Albatri and a brace of Fokker tripes who all pounced upon my trusty Camel over Lille. Cheers! Lou .
  5. . Haven't flown OFF too much lately. Been dividing most of my time between playing these: "Spring Clean-up: Bloody April" "Flood Watch 7" "Storm Repair Reload" "Midwest Highway Mayhem" with the Winter's Legacy expansion pack "Keep The Missus Happy: Gold Edition" "Family Wars: The Next Generation" ...and my favorite... "Gettin' Old, 56" with the lack-of-energy and increased payload mods .
  6. Fateful Morn III

. Wonderful Dej, another beautiful addition to your series, Sir. .
  7. . Welcome to the OFF skies stefnuts, and to our mess. Good advice here for you already, and this lot is always happy to lend a hand. Don't be discouraged about your first few dozen pilots going west in short order, we've all had that baptism by fire. Just practice, and study a bit, and most of all: Enjoy! As has been pointed out, new lads buy the drinks, but as I am slated for morning patrol I shall have to catch you up on that later. Cheers! Lou .
  8. . Very handy indeed! Started messing about with it last night to see how it would work to set up my OFF / Mediterranean Air War for the RFC / AFC campaign series I have been working on over the last year in my spare time, (spare time...HA!). I've discovered it will make this sooooooo simple, not only to set up, but to share with others as well. While I could not post the finished mod in the download section due to requests from the devs to keep the P3 files out of offerings to the general public, I could make it available via email to members here who already own OFF. You would of course need to also have the free MAW downloads installed, but those are still readily available online. So cool. Cheers! Lou .
  9. Ground battles!

. Has anyone seen a cavalry charge yet? They're in the folder so I am sure they are in the sim. I've made use of them building one of the missions for the Senussi Campaign. .
  10. How Handy is the JS Generic Mod Enabler?

. Thanks for the sage advice vonOben and Herr Prop-Wasche. I will look into trying your suggestions when I get back home this weekend. .
  11. OFF P4 SCENERY

    . .
  12. Thanks, and a question

. Please, call me Lou, and then fetch me a nice hot cup of coffee with just a nip of Tullamore Dew. New lads buy the drinks you know! Cheers! .
  13. How Handy is the JS Generic Mod Enabler?

. Quick update: I've discovered that using the JSGME to swap in the files for my OFF/MAW set-up is not quite as simple as I'd hoped. Certain aircraft will have the wrong engine sounds, some of the effects are incorrect, and the like. When I manually go in and swap the needed files and folders as I've done in the past it seems to work fine, but this then requires two separate MAW installs, (one stock and one "built" for OFF). I will continue to pick away at this as time allows and hopefully it will be something relatively simple. .
  14. Thanks, and a question

. I am honestly not much of a gamer myself, and have only ever found interest in the WWI / WWII flight sims, with the former being my favorite by far. I would try RoF if I had a computer to support it properly, but from what I've read and seen it seems all about eye candy and FM so I imagine I would become bored with it in short order. Dynamic campaigns are still what keep my attention, and OFF is second to none in that. Plus, it's got eye candy to boot. .
  15. New Book

. By the way, for those of you here who may not be aware of it, we have our own gentleman WWI aviation history author commenting in the forums often, and in this very thread as a matter of fact. Jim Miller's work, "Manfred von Richthofen: The Aircraft, Myths and Accomplishments of The Red Baron", was released about a year-and-a-half ago, and from what I have read and seen it is a very concise, well-documented, and well-illustrated study of the German "Ace of Aces". It is once again available in the U.S. at RZM for the paltry sum of $29.99: "MvR" by JFM For those of you in the UK and Europe, you can find it at the Aviation Bookstore: "MvR" by JFM, UK While I don't currently own a copy of this fine work, I did have a chance to peruse it some time back, and I have it on my list of books to add to my personal library. A big tip of the hat to you Jim on a job well done. Lou .
  16. How Handy is the JS Generic Mod Enabler?

. That is very good to know, thanks much for the tip vonOben. Where would you recommend parking the MODS folder? .
  17. How Handy is the JS Generic Mod Enabler?

    . Got it, Royce. .
  18. . There you go Javito. Just out of curiosity, what medal did the Adjutant recommend? .
  19. How Handy is the JS Generic Mod Enabler?

. I don't see why, WM. Should work with nearly all sims. .
  20. . Javito, remember that these numbers have been adjusted up from RL amounts to offset the fact that it is considerably easier to get kills in the sim. Also, since there were only four MOH's awarded in WWI to Army Air Service members, it should be nearly impossible to earn one. As to defining a notable single day's performance, that has been footnoted in the charts. But please remember, these are all only recommended general criteria. Enjoying the sim should still be your ultimate goal. .
  21. How Handy is the JS Generic Mod Enabler?

. Well WM, according to the JS website, it appears it will work with just about any sim. JSGME Link .
  22. That "oo-er missus.." moment

. WELCOME HOME SI! And even though I don't fly with TAC, I still have those same "Holy Excrement!" moments when I see the tiny little specks off in the sky, or the friendly AA popping at something as yet unseen. It's even more pronounced when I'm flying something like a Quirk. Good times...good times. Now then, off to the pub with you, and I'll buy the first round. .
  23. The AI Gun Range Debate

. Yuppers, I have also been running with the AI range and accuracy cranked down in an effort to minimize the Robo Gunners. Repeatedly getting hit that hard from hundreds of yards away just isn't right, in any reality. .
