  1. Guess where I've been today?

. Motorcycles and I came to a mutual agreement a number of years ago: I no longer attempt to ride and crash them, and they no longer attempt to kill me. It's worked out well for all of us. .
  2. Paul Blum's Story: A BHaH Pilot's Saga

. Many thanks TaillyHo. I'm hoping Leutnant Günther Ritter von Vogel will prove a good wingman for Paul. We shall see what Fate has in store. .
  3. Guess where I've been today?

. Keep 'em coming Olham. I am loving this: getting a glimpse at where other fellow OFF'ers live. Very neat! .
  4. Special Thanks to RAF_Louvert

. CaptSopwith, you are more than welcome Sir, and thank you. Anything I can do to share the wealth of excellent writing out there that pertains to our shared intrests here is my pleasure. And to WM, Olham, Carrick, TaillyHo and Dej, thanks as well for the raised glasses. Now who's going to top off mine! BTW, I've another set of books nearly collected together that I hope to be uploading in the next week or so. .
  5. Any Hope For My Wingmen?

. Wayfarer, I also agree with the other gentlemen who've responded to your plea. I don't know how much more you could have done given the situation. Depending on the alt you were fighting at, you could try dragging everyone down to treetop level as the enemy AI don't do well down low, and you'll have the aid of friendly small arms fire from the ground as well, (assuming you're on the right side of the mud). I'm afraid you will have to get use to the idea of regular losses from here on out in your Quirk squadron. Also, there is no shame in bravely running away when faced with such odds, but you will have to beat a brave retreat early to stay ahead of all those angry Einies. .
  6. Paul Blum's Story: A BHaH Pilot's Saga

. Greetings All, I've just posted the next installment of Ritter von Blum's saga: Paul Blum's Story Hope you all enjoy it. Cheers! Lou .
  7. Guess where I've been today?

. Inquiring minds want to know Taillyho, what town is it? Bullethead, I must confess I've never had the thrill of driving through the Rockies in the winter. But I get to hear all the stories from my younger brother who is an OTR and makes runs weekly from Minneapolis to either Portland or Salt Lake City...the lucky sod. Cameljockey, wasn't Forrest Gump filmed in a town near Charleston? S.C. is a beautiful state. .
  8. HITR question

. TW1, that file size sounds about right for the HiTR expansion pack. .
  9. Guess where I've been today?

. ...hee hee...oh how I wish that stretch of highway was only in the movie BH. I drive the damnable thing about three times every winter and that picture I posted is from one of my trips last year, (still have all of them to look forward to this season yet). And still no suitcase. .
  10. trusty machine dies

. Oh yeah, that should run OFF, and BHaH, and HiTR, and P4, and P5, and any other acronyms the devs may come up with. Wowzers. .
  11. OT..What's your favourite Christmas Carol?

    . mmmmmmmmmmm...Gluhwien...hic...needs more cimmamem...er, cimnamin...no, cimmarin...ah the hell with it...needs more cloves...hic... .
  12. . It's all about conditioning and getting in shape for the task at hand. .
  13. I'm not playing OFF ever again!

. Javito, you might want to ask Santa for a globe of the Earth for Christmas. Wisconsin isn't even close to the same latitude as Finland, unless if by "about the same" you mean that they both share the same hemisphere. .
  14. I'm not playing OFF ever again!

. I think I take too much stuff for granted. I assumed most folks knew about popping Vitamin D during the winter months to compensate for the lack of sunlight. I've been doing it for many years. But then, my mother was the senior editor for Postgraduate Medicine, so I suppose she had the inside track and shared a lot of things I take as rote, medically speaking anyway. .
  15. OT..What's your favourite Christmas Carol?

. Those are all so beautiful, I love them all. But uffda, I almost forgot about dis vun! Anudder vun uf my fayverits. ...hee hee hee... .
  16. . OK, now I'm hungry. .
  17. Guess where I've been today?

. Now that is a neat bridge, and I'm betting there's likely a bit of snow around it at the moment. HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Finland! .
  18. I'm not playing OFF ever again!

. Hasse Wind, I can only imagine what so little actual daylight must be like for you Sir. Our shortest day here is about 7 1/2 hours, but it is often quite cloudy in the winter so we don't actually get to see the sun. But at least it's up there. .
  19. I'm not playing OFF ever again!

. That is very pretty HW, and reminds me of northeastern Minnesota in the winter. However, I live on the prairies of west central Minnesota and they tend to look more like this for five months of the year: I swear to God, everything goes all film noir here come late November. .
  20. Guess where I've been today?

. Olham, if you were in Google Streetview and headed south on County Road 9 and saw the following, then you found my family manse, albeit in the springtime with the lilacs and apple blossoms in their full glory. Right at this moment it's under a foot of snow with icicles hanging from the eaves: Hasse Wind, I agree with you about the large cities, but unless Olham had posted a photo of someone's basement or closet in Lester Prairie, I probably would have know it was my town. It's rather smallish, in much the same way that World War One was a bit of a bother. .
  21. I'm not playing OFF ever again!

. I dub thee "Sir Liar Through-Isteeth, Duke of Whattaspiv". .
  22. . Greetings All, As I've been flying quite a bit over the last few months down in the Alsace and since I've been learning the area quite well in the process, I thought I would share the cockpit map I have been building and adjusting in the course of said flying. Please keep in mind this is a work in progress and I don't have the exact locations of all the airfields dialed in yet, nor have I painted in all the various little lakes and other landmarks that I am sure still exist in this region, (though I've found and added quite a few already). I seem to find something new with every flight so I am continually correcting and tweaking this map. But it is getting more and more accurate to OFF as time goes on, (and for the first time ever the town of Nancy is now actually shown on the map where it is in the sim, though where it is in the sim is about 7 miles too far to the west of where it should be...c'est la guerre). With all that being said, I am posting the latest incarnation of the map here for those who fly with a paper map rather than the in-sim pop-up. I wish to extend my thanks to Waldemar Kurtz for making the original old maps available and from which I have built this composite. I will continue to update this image as I make further corrections and additions. Also, if anyone who decides to use this map happens across something that should be added or corrected please let me know and I will address the item in question. Cheers! Lou .
  23. . jlan5031, I am glad to know you are going to give the map a try. Also, thanks to you Slarti for your kudos and I hope you will find the map useful as well, though happening across some fine Swiss chocolates in your unguided ramblings couldn't have been all bad. And to all who have downloaded this chart, you will want to grab the latest edition I've just uploaded to replace the old image here. I've made several more corrections as of this AM. And a final thank you in this note to Herr Olham for the German drome locations he sent me yesterday for the far northwestern area of the Lorraine. They will come in very handy when we expand into the Verdun/Metz area of the front. Cheers! Lou .
  24. Guess where I've been today?

. HEE HAW! Why it's Lester Prairie, Minnesota in the summer, looking east down Central Avenue. One of our two lovely night clubs, One Eye'd Willy's, is the first place on the left, next door to one of our two four-star eating establishments, the Central Cafe. Across the street you see one of our three state-of-the-art gas and service stations where they sell both types of fuel; regular and ethyl. And, if you keep going east on the street you are looking down for another half mile and take a right at the stop sign, (one of four we have in town), you'll find Chateau Larson, home of yours truly. Well done Olham. BTW, I was kidding, we actually have five stop signs. .
