  1. Another Format :(

I think since Windows 1.0. I heard a long time ago that Micro$oft was developing a new OS. It has portability of Win CE It has the ease of use of Win ME and the network-ability of Win NT It'll be called Windows CEMENT BTW, appropriate little movie with Data on it Winston. I guess we can expect problems int the 24th century?
  2. Setting the FOV - Field of View

Great tip. Has anyone figured out if it has an effect on the framerate? Just asking, because it would be a great benefit with the ability to have a better FOV if it doesn't cost me any frames per second.
  3. I think it looks like he wants to punch the cameraman.
  4. Campaign on youtube

And the big green cone and yellow targeting brackets! NOT!
  5. Happy New Year...

As for me, I miss the 80's. I know somewhere in my closet I've got a skinny tie, parachute pants, a pastel shirt and white sportcoat to go with my "Magnum PI" moustache and red Ferrari 308 or DeLorean (I wish!)
  6. Enemies Nearby!

I though it was 8 miles, but no matter. Just keep flying at normal time and you'll eventually fly out of their range or they'll get close enough to see (Hint: let the Archie be your guide - you can see that before you can see one moving pixel)
  7. Harrier Takes her final Bow

One step ahead of you, Javito. No Camels or Spitfires, but we've got it hanging right next to a Curtiss JN-4 Jenny and a couple of F4U Corsairs. You can get so close you can almost touch it. All you have to do is come to the USMC Museum in Quantico, VA. You can also take a "virtual tour" right here.
  8. I believe it's seven and a half hogsheads to a quarter farthing during the vernal equinox, but that's just an estimate. I have a dieter's scale (like that helps with THIS recipe) that does ounces and grams, so I went by weight rather than volume. This is what I came up with on the ingredient measurements. 4 eggs 400 g (14 oz) ground almonds 400 g (14 oz) brown sugar 300 g (10.5 oz) wheat flour 40 g (1.4 oz) cocoa 1 tablespoon of cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon cardamom 1 level teaspoon of baking powder pinch of salt Heat the oven to 200° Celsius (394° F) All the rest is the same. It's nice and soft when warm, but it firms up almost like a biscotti when completely cooled down. Very nice with coffee or heavily spiked egg nog.
  9. Herr Olham, The bread is wonderful. It DOES make your kitchen smell like Christmas! And you were not kidding about the dough being thick and sticky - I almost couldn't flatten it into the pan. I cut mine into bite sized pieces (pizza cutter works great for this). My kids love it. The only drawback is the cost of the cardamom. Luckily, I've got enough in the jar for many more of these. I believe that you've introduced me to a new holiday tradition.
  10. Herr Olham, I may give this a try this weekend. I have a gram scale and have converted the temperature (392 F). What are the dimensions of the baking tray you mentioned? I am guessing it is what we call here a "half sheet pan" 18x12 inches (about 45 cm x 30 cm) and 1 inch (5 cm) deep. Danke!
  11. With RAID-1 drive mirroring, I hope.
  12. It all happened on this day 1903

One of the people I work with has something like this posted. Very funny, since we are all civilian contractors working for the Government.
  13. Need keys for FPS

You got that right! I had an instructor who taught me "you don't have to know everything if you know where to look it up." Or as I used to tell my Marines, "R.T.F.I. - Read The Instructions"
  14. Need keys for FPS

Is "L" for lights also reprogramable? I don't know where my CFS3 manual is, so I'm not sure if that's the right button. If so, that's one more for your list of 9, uncleal.
  15. Harrier Takes her final Bow

I was at a symposium where an Air Force engineer said that they intend on upgrading the B-52 to delay its phase out until around 2040 or 2050. If you do the math, it would be 90 years +/- from initial design until phase out. Imagine that! It would be almost like using a Fokker D.VII or D.VIII as a figher aircraft today!
  16. Harrier Takes her final Bow

For what it's worth, the United States Marine Corps is still using the Harrier and will do so for the forseeable future.
  17. Guess where I've been today?

I don't know where #15 is, but I'm pretty sure I've stayed in a house like the one marked "Rent Me" on the lower left side of the photo.
  18. My God This Game Is Hard ! LOL

James/dokken, In case you haven't tried it, run a plain, unmodified mission in CFS3, then run an OFF mission - it will really give you an indication of just how much work the DevTeam has put into this and why it is so special to all of us. What learning curve? The flying part isn't too hard - push the stick forward and the trees get bigger, pull the stick back and the trees get smaller. Simple, right? Recommend flying a relatively docile bird, like the Albatros D.V, Fokker D.VII or the SE5a to start. If you were like me, you jumped into either the Sopwith Camel or the Dr.1 and dumped it into the ground with or without enemy help.
  19. No Delivery of Game!

Where else will you find the "president" of the company doing things like that to make his customer happy?
  20. OT..What's your favourite Christmas Carol?

There's always this standard, performed in a new and novel way in this video:
  21. HITR question

Hopefully when you downloaded HitR you saved it to your hard drive instead of installing directly from the download stream. Assuming you did, all you have to do is yank out the hard drive on the dead machine and plug it into the motherboard on your new one (btw, very sweet Alienware setup that you mentioned on the other post) and use the old primary drive as a secondary and copy the .exe (or .zip or .rar) to your new hard drive. While you're at it you can also copy over all your other important files that may not have been backed up on an archive drive.
  22. N-24

Although it's a Nieuport 17, not a 24, I thought this picture that I found was quite interesting. It's described as a Nieuport 17C.1 with four machine guns. I wonder how many other aircraft were flying around this heavily armed?
  23. You didn't mention what your price point would be. But since you're not building it yourself, for my two cents' worth, I'd recommend finding a locally owned and operated computer store (something other than Best Buy). I've got a store near me that builds different levels of machines for not much more than the retail cost of the parts. The real bonus is that the only software they add are the OS, one benchmarking program and possibly one of the hot, newer games that come with the video card (i.e., Starcraft, CivilizationV). That means there are no 30-day trials of Norton, MS Works, McAfee, AOL, etc that I have to spend days de-crapifying off of the machine. Here's an example of what they do for just under $1,200 (this may be from an old add, there's no date on it): CPU: Intel Core i5 750 2.66/4.8GT/S Memory: 4GB DDR3 1333 Corsair Video: HD5830 PCIE 1GB Sound: Integrated 7.1 LAN: 10/100/1000 Hard Drive: 500GB SATA 2 DVD: DVD+/-RW 22x OS: MS Windows 7 Home Premium Case/PS: GX 690CM/ 650W PS Since you use it in your RV, I'd recommend that you upgrade the DVD by adding a BluRay so you can watch some movies on it as well.
  24. Guess where I've been today?

I'm pretty sure it's not Dale City, Virginia.
  25. OT..What's your favourite Christmas Carol?

In addition to the ones previously mentioned, there are three that I seem to have an affinity toward. The first two are not really considered "standards, but both are quite powerful in their own ways. The third is a reinterpretation of a couple of the classics. First is "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day", which is based on a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow written during the American Civil War. He had recently lost his wife in a fire and had just found out that his son had been seriously wounded in battle. If you read/listen to all the verses, the emotion flows from dispair to hope. Very powerful if you understand the context. Second is " " written by Mark Lowrey and Buddy Phillips. Buddy is something of a showman with his chosen musical instrument, as shown in video. Third is " " by TSO. It's sort of a metal-ized version of Good King Wenceslas/Carol of the Bells that makes the rounds on most of the radio stations here.
