  1. Show OFF your Desktop

    I'm a morning person.
  2. The "world premier" was held last weekend in Savannah but sadly I was unable to attend. It would have been great to see it on the big screen! I'll catch it on Nov 10 at 9:00 PM EST on The History Channel. If y'all are ever in the vicinity of Savannah, Georgia, stop in and check out the museum. http://www.mightyeig...WarPremiere.pdf CJ
  3. audio magic

Don't get me wrong Olham, I'm not complaining in the least. Sometimes we all need a little time to ourselves, but time spent with these two is time well spent and it's never boring!
  4. audio magic

The only problem with that is..........I'm never alone.
  5. OT - FaceTrackNoIR

Since I don't have a webcam on my machine I reckon the missus' laptop will have to be the guinea pig! There are times when she spends time in the hospital (not very often thank God) but when she does it's very boring. With this all I would need is the laptop and my twisty stick and I'm good to go. OFF is portable!
  6. Since the demise of my 780i motherboard I've had to put my GTX280 back in the closet and rely on my old 8800GTX until the funds become available for a replacement board. These things run really hot compared to most cards. With the stock cooler it would idle between 65 and 70C and reach 80-90C under load. Nvidia says it will handle those temps with few adverse side effects but I still don't like my hardware getting that hot. I purchased one of these (see photo) and it worked flawlessly. I used RoF and GTA IV in my testing because those are the two most graphically demanding games I own. Now, in a 78F room, the card idles at 45-50C and under full load it hasn't surpassed the 70C mark yet! If some of you are still using an 8800GTX or 8800 Ultra and you're having heat issues, this is the cooler for you, unless you want to go liquid.
  7. OT/Cooling an 8800 GTX

These things are harder to find than a needle in a haystack. Here's one for around $61.04 US for your 9800 GTX+. http://www.superbuy3...68&currency=USD
  8. OT/Cooling an 8800 GTX

Here's one for the 9800 from the manufacturer. http://www.aerocoole...rod_id=FANACX98 CJ Sorry that's discontinued. I'll look for another.
  9. You are the weakest link!

HPW, check this out! Since my 780i mobo fried and I had to revert back to a 680i which my GTX280 wasn't compatible with, I've been using my 8800 GTX. It is a couple of years old but still an awesome card. Here's a listing on Ebay.... http://cgi.ebay.com/...9#ht_500wt_1156 An aftermarket cooler may be helpful, but not necessary. The only drawback for you though is the power supply. This card is power hungry. Two 6 pin PCIe power connections. CJ
  10. OT/Cooling an 8800 GTX

This cooler definitely chills it. I'm planning on getting the one for my GTX280 when I start using it again. I would be using it now but there's one pesky capacitor on the board that's in the way and it won't plug into the PCI slot.
  11. OT/Cooling an 8800 GTX

The GTX had some heat issues, a real hot rod! Here's a short discussion on the subject. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/246262-33-8800gtx-heat-issue Also, the board I'm using, an Abit IN9 32X MAX has heat issues of it's own. If you'll notice, I've mounted fans on the North bridge and the PWMs. The board came with wire clips to mount a 40mm fan on the NB but it didn't cool to my satisfaction so I mounted a 60mm. Airflow through the case is good, 3 80mm fans sucking and a single 120mm blowing out the back. I doubled the intake to compensate for the power supply fan and perforated panel on the back. It's 70F in the room right now, just doing basic internet stuff, and my CPU is running at 35C, GPU at 44, and System temp is 32. So I'm satisfied, for now.
  12. Flip

IIRC the whole engine will have to be subjected to NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) before it can be recertified. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ May be more cost effective to replace it.
  13. That's cool Olham. It would make accurate claims locations more possible. Possible corroborating witnesses at friendly airfields would be a plus! Maybe. The powers that be will do what they wish, regardless, pertaining to claims and confirmations. The color doesn't really matter, but when I used to play the board game Dogfight the Entente was green and red for the Germans IIRC.
  14. Swore off of the hard stuff. Now I help pay for Jeff Gordon's race car.
  15. Say hello to my little friend!

Congratulations and best wishes to you, the Missus, and little Raphael! When can we expect Michaelangelo, Donatello, and Leonardo?

  17. How do I disable it? I was using a different stick for a while and decided to go back to my SW, but now I can't figure out how to disable the rudder control. I've got a set of CH Pro pedals so it's not necessary. If anyone can help this old fart he'd be extremely appreciative!
  18. Getting forgetful in my old age

Got it guys! Thanks a bunch. Drinks are on me!
  19. Devs: possible little bug?

Since we're writing letters to "Santa Claus", I'd like about 100 of these!
  20. 1 September

My big brother was born on September 1st.
  21. Out of Action

Evel Knievel was very popular when I was a kid. I once jumped two VW Beetles on a Schwinn Stingray and, like Mr. Knievel, I had my share of "accidents" but never broke a bone. I guess I was lucky. Hope you heal fast Capt and remember that your degree is worth a little pain! Good luck!
  22. Olham, may I suggest a Dell ST2410? I picked one up for less than $200 US. It's 24" of beeeeeeyooootiful color! http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/974377/
