Well, if I had survived the crash and inferno I would have been in a better condition to brag. -
Paarma, Stark's book is Wings of War. He also was an artist. See this link http://www.crossandcockade.com/pdf/Stark.pdf

It does look like I had the upper hand but then in pusuit of pics I got too close and... viola, ricketycrate. -
Oh Launchbury, O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin books are fine literature. O'Brian's series is unsurpassed. I can recommend The Goshawk Squadron by Derek Robinson. C.S. Forester's Hornblower series is not O'Brian but very good and in that vein. German Ace Rudolph Stark wrote a very interesting account of his time as a WWI pilot. Some unromanticized accounts, very enlightning, not dry, I thought. I have a huge library of WWI, WWII and Age Of Sail. Both fiction and non-fiction. Have not read them all of course. We had a long sticky thread back at the old forum. The top vote getter was perhaps Sagittarius Rising by Cecil Lewis. No Parachute also got many votes.

Force Feedback Headsets
Rickitycrate replied to BirdDogICT's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Along the lines of the butt kicker you can buy a gaming chair. My chair gives me the sensation of sitting in a WWI crate. I sense the rpm's of the motor and archie explosions. It's driven by ingame sounds. IMHO this really ups the immersion. The chairs come in different styles, mine has a base so I am not so low to the floor and are widely available. Hey but what do I know. It's a gas when you are getting ready for takeoff and it's quiet and then you fire up the engine and you feel it in your legs butt and spine. -
Hi, welcome back. Yes, you've much to do. Just imagine this forum is Tokyo.

Suggested Graphics Settings
Rickitycrate replied to CaptSopwith's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi guys. I'm trying to change my settings to the Homeboy/Rabu special recipe. I have done alright in the process but I am hungup at the Manage 3D Settings screen. I am running an Nvidia 9300M GS. Being slightly below "chimp" I cannot find how to select cfs3.exe to customize it. Help please... :slow(en): When I try to add cfs3.exe I get file not found. When I click add I do not see that file. Is it in Documents? Well, well. I figured it out. What a bright little monkey I am. -
Homeboy hits another homerun.

MK2, endless thanks for giving a home to the OFF gang.

Among the things I like about the map is that now I can better appreciate the distance that the OBD team members live from each other. I know, modern times and all that but still they do what they do without all the offices, staff and overhead that a traditional Dev house has.

What's your favorite WWI Movie?
Rickitycrate replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Talking out my butt again but I understand this was produced directed by Peter Ring Trilogy Jackson and that he has a keen interest in WWI aviation and perhaps owns some replicas or some such thing that Check Six could shed some light on perhaps. The Dawn Patrol is one of my favs. The lone bomb run at the end and the amount of damage done is a little over the top though. -
What's your favorite WWI Movie?
Rickitycrate replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Some other, less flying involved perhaps , movies that come to mind. The Eagle and the Hawk-Cary Grant and Fredric March Lilac Time-Colleen Moore and Gary Cooper Today We Live-Gary Cooper and Joan Crawford Ace of Aces-Richard Dix Captain Eddie-Fred MacMurray Some of these have their moments of being quite good and are entertaining overall. For us Yanks these shows do get aired on Turner Classic Movies from time to time. I will keep an eye out and post notice on this forum. -
A hearty welcome back Barnstormer. May God bless you in your difficult time. If you aren't on Olhams map please tell him where you live. New patch that fixes the cloud turbulence and much more for you to get caught uo on. A lot of nice new members too. Best wishes, Jim

That was fun, thanks. -
It's all about survival. Do what you can or must. That EIII you got credit for was the one that you got few rounds into before you skeedaddled. Good luck!

Dawn Patrol Rendezvous
Rickitycrate replied to GRUMPYBEAR's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I would love to be there. I just don't think the budget will allow. I was at Oshkosh for the 50th anniversary of the AirForce. I'll never forget that. I will see if I can make it to this show. Sounds like a good opportunity to see some WWI items. -
Ah heck, you get to share like that? Very nice. Sounds like a good time.

Okay, so I've been wondering. Does anyone record these You Tube vids to dvd? Is this possible. Our computers can do a lot of wonderful magic. I am just the knucklehead that hits the right key once in a while. If for some reason what I ask is illeagle please disregarde and chalk it up to ignorance.

What Does Your Cockpit Look Like?
Rickitycrate replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes, please do. I see some nice titles unfamiliar to me. -
Maybe in P8 we can land by the downed craft and take a trophy and then send it home to mother and she can keep a trophy room for us. I've seen picture of MvR's trophy room. I wonder what became of all those things.

That's some war room Shredder! I like it a lot, especially the observers seat you got set up. I could sit there and watch you fly and read your great books and your issues of Over the Front. Small wonder you have so much knowledge. To Uncleal: Thankfully you had that helmet on Uncleal and that you are here with us to enjoy OFF BH&H. -
Ok..Whats going on with the DR1?
Rickitycrate replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I wonder if something is going on with the latest patch. BigJim described weird plane behaviour recently and I kinda thought it was newguyitis perhaps, no offence BigJim. Now an old hand is seeing weirdness and now Ryan H. Coincidence? Prolly. I don't mean to start something here. -

I could not see the vid Lou. Sounds like some good stuff to look forward too. I don't know how you guys that do this kind of thing do it but I am glad you share your work with the likes of me. Seems like a lot of work. Creating this game is beyond my imagination and understanding.
