  1. Hi gents. Well as anyone from the OFF forums could tell you I am a knucklehead with a moron chip malfunction. My current problem is that I have installed Forgotten Battles and that works but when I try to install the AEP disc I get the message that it cannot find the FB program, it's right there on the C drive. Can anyone tell me what I need to do? If I get AEP installed I then intend to install Pacific Fighters. Then, I understand, I should download and install the "combined" patch. Would this be the correct route to take? I know I should get IL2 1946 but I don't yet have it and these fell into my lap. I am new to IL2 and would appreciate any advice. My pc and gear are all good to go it's just that I am not the brightest idiot light on the dashboard.
  2. Hi, yes, I tried XP install for both but still AEP did not work yet. I have decided to get 1946. Then I'll a have good install. I am flying plain FB for now. My intent really was to experience IL2 and see how I like it and how well my rig would handle it. Well my rig can run it just great and the game looks wonderful and plays great so far. So it's a big thumbs up an all systems go for getting into IL2 in a serious way. Late to the party I know but besides flying the WWII birds I look forward to Canvas Knights multi-player. Thanks for trying to help.

Hey Lou, Minnesota is going to br crowded on that map. Do you recall a tv show from the 60's about aviation that was on Sunday mornings. I think it was called "World of Aviation". It had a nice old host, seems his name was Sherm Lewis or something like that. Anyway I loved that show in my formative years and I think it sparked my interest in aviation. Also being a Minnesotan you know of 3M Co.. I worked in the 3M Aerospce new product lab for nearly 30 years and my crowning acheivement was the part I played in launching a new water-based primer for Boeing company. I don't know if Boeing is actually using it yet but it is on the QPL and has been used in the manufacture of some airplanes in Europe, TBOMK.

I can say Captain Eddie is an influence. My good wife actually tolerates this very well. Bless her heart.
  19. What nationality are you?

The restraunt scene has some metal sculptures on the wall. Ship or paddlewheeler. The name of the place is Tinnucci's. One hell of a good american style all you can eat buffet. Walk in, waddle out.

Be careful there Mack! Remember what happened to Richard Bong.
  21. My best pilot

Mack, great stuff! A leave is called for, extended perhaps. I get a kick out of you guys that fill out such wonderful reports and enjoy yourselves so much. We are all so happy to survive these close encounters it's just a thrill.

It's a frickin' Rickitycrate of a mess to be sure but it's my sanctuary.
  23. German View Point

I've flown the EIII a fair bit and enjoyed it despite not meeting many enemies. Challenging crate to fly and therefore rewarding IMO. I think of it as paying some dues. There will be limitless opportunties to get your ass handed to you. And then do it all over again. I look forward to the devs fleshing out the early years with more crate types. Big Jim I am glad you seem to find OFF BH&H to be realistic. It may not be perfect, what is, but I am so glad to have it.
  24. What Does Your Cockpit Look Like?

Show me yours, I'll show you mine. Okay, here's my current modest crate office. Pretty standard stuff or even subpar. Inexpensive surround sound amp, Rocker chair with rumble and 3 speakers,Wingman Force 3D stick, Trackir w/hat, the laptop that runs it all, movie poster from the net, cordless key board/mouse and my thrustmaster pedals that I have yet to get operational. Oh yes, that bottle of liquid courage. Thanks guys for showing you setups. I really liked seeing your offices and feeling that I know you each a little better. You're all aces in my book.... it's in some of the pics.
  25. Good show I say! Nice bit of work.
