I Don't Know Anymore Which is the Best WWI Sim!
Rickitycrate replied to ThePlainsman's topic in WWI Flight Sim Discussion
I can't say wich is the best. I don't have them all. I do have OFF and I love it. -
French - Guy Nie Pique British - Ritchie Teacrate German - Frank N. Stein American - Harry Toughnut others I don't recall just now.

Oh please not Herr Cruise, bitte. I say Peter Jackson is our best chance at a proper WWI aviation film. And make it a trilogy too, I dare say. It seems he has taken on a big part of the budget already with the repro planes he has had built. Unknown actors would make the better casting choice IMO. Don't cheese-up the production with someone like T. Cruise. He is too old to play any flier in WWI.

Wings of Glory. A game I finished. Going after the Zeps was lots of fun and the Kraut planes sure were colorful. I for one am glad that both the silent film WINGS and HELL'S ANGELS were made. They have their problems but they both show some of the real planes in action.

A little more about me
Rickitycrate replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks for sharing Widow. One of the finer posts among so many wonderful posts. Not to be too maudlin or corny but I appreciate you guys as brothers. Thanks to all of you for sharing of yourselves and your talents. -
Widow, certainly not the one that sits and watches another dog latch onto your balls without trying to protect you.

Being on a tight budget the RoF-ICE release is more appealing to me now. As far as looks go it's been said many times that "looks aren't everything". WARBIRDS has a WWI release out now. I wonder if that's worth getting? 12 planes as of now with online MMP.

<S!> and Hello from Canada
Rickitycrate replied to Jackstraw's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hello Mate! Welcome from your neighbor to the south. You're in for a grand time. -
Ahh.. this thread is about RoF. I see no mention of OFF. Don't choose sides but rather enjoy yourself. It's a great time to be a WWI simmer.

Olham, you have the advantage on me. I know little of soccer. I recall when I was 12 years old and my school phys ed class they forced us to play soccer. We students mildly protested and asked why must we play soccer? The teacher said "it's the world sport and the US needs to be competitive". That did not make us care then. Now I see many soccer fields full of teams and parents watching. So it seems the campaign has had success. Perhaps the US will field stronger and more competitive teams before long.

I find that beer helps when it comes to watching soccer. That and turning down the sound. Whatever happened to the singing and chanting? That sounded like a good time then. I find I can't warm up to this not playing until there is a winner. And the officiating... and the acting... If it's your cup of tea that's great, best wishes to you and your favorite team. My baseball Twins just came back from a huge defecite to beat the Phillies 13-10 in 11 innings. That's overtime if you didn't know and we have a winner.

If you are into taking sceenshots having Pause assigned helps alot also.

Hi Lou! Well to answer your question... I mostly take my pics during deliberate photo flights. Most of my pics tend to have a purpose. IE getting a pic suitable for my beer lables. So in this case, as many times, I fly way too close but I want a tight shot of 2 planes. When I think a good pic is possible I Pause. I then cycle through all possible views and I try to compose what to my eye is a nice pic. Besides cycling the views I pan in and out. That pic of the DVII pilot was a max zoom-in shot while we were already in spitting distance. The shots with the Spad and Fokker so close were taken just prior to collision. If one looks you can see the DVII's rudder poking up through the upper wing plane of the Spad. I send the picks to Photobucket. I find Photobucket has all the tools I need for editng the pics and providing the image links for forum posting. I always try to crop the pics to aid in composition and to eliminate any on screen messages. If I take pics while Pause is flashing I wait until Pause is not displayed. I use the free FRAPS program. So there, more info than cared for but maybe someone will get a new idea for thier pic taking. -
