"Hunting fun factor" or long lasting pilot ?
Rickitycrate replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Todt, that's it in a nutshell. Well said. -
Whether I like it or not this kind of thing happens. It bothers me but what is the point of any of it? Jealousy must be at the heart of it. Some guys have decided to marry the pretty girl down the street and your gal ain't diddly squat. I find that we here on this forum are a mature lot who no longer have the need to argue about who has the biggest, best, stronger, prettier or what have you. We have OFF BH&H and they have something that is less fulfilling, or they would be doing that instead of spreading ill will. We are a happy lot and them? They will one day have their ROF and you know so will most of us perhaps. Will we then be brothers in the interest of WWI flight sims? I recall how it was while we awaited the release of BH&H. It was very hard time for many of us. The anticipation got the better of some. One thing that fails my understanding is how someone can bemoan the associated cost of something like BH&H versus the investment of time they will put into it. I love BH&H and the more I play it the less it cost me on a per hour basis. I don't believe either that the bashing of BH&H would be condoned by the ROF dev team. They are doing the hard work and have a good idea of the effort involved in making BH&H. I for one don't need the grief of reading negative posts or arguing with someone who has made up their mind. Have your cake, I'll have mine thank you and please don't try to piss on my picnic.

I am expecting "The Red Baron-Beyond the Legend" by Peter Kilduff in the mail any day now. Kilduff specializes in MVR. If anyone can find "Fighter Aircraft of the 1914-1918 War" by W.M. Lamberton they should pick it up. It contains many pics and drawingsof famous plane types and many one of's that did not go into production. Good reference for modelling.

True enough Bullethead but not in this case. Don't get me wrong, the pilot is long gone. -
I feel for you and have lost many pilots for not good reasons. Just collided my last campaigner with a squad mate. At least I grabbed a pic

Well as long as we are dreaming on here I would really like to have the AEG GIV day/night bombers. Hansa Brandenberg W29, Brueget, Caproni bombers. All are welcome but I am very busy with things as it is. God bless those that can create. -
Oh now your talking, O'brian. Masterful that author and series. Loved those immensely. I have a monster collection of historical fiction and have actually read a great deal of them. I find I get much more from the fiction by knowing more of the facts so I have a huge non-fiction section as well. And I am a modeller of WWI aircraft and ships from the age of sail. I barely exist in the present day, haha.

hertzie, I would wait just a little bit longer and see if some of us that are doing this have success with running OFF/freetrack. I think someone on the freetrack site does make 3 point caps that he sell for $40 US. -

I've spent many hours at the stick of the EIII, constant work and worry of losing control. I considered it paying my dues but also enjoyed it. The bebe is completely different animal. Here is one of my favorite pics from a bebe -

Interlocutor, I love the "bebe" it's so maneuverable. I find I can easily control the throttle to better get into position along with throwing her about. My only regret is the low amount of ammo she carries. My skills are improving but I do find that I am inconsistent. Heavy or ham fisted, not looking around enough etc. one day and another day doing all the right things. The need for trackir is obvious as there are so many blind spots without it. I look forward to a new experience once I can head-track. I've been flying DiD without it and it is huge challenge. -
A brief quote from Frank Luke in a letter to a friend. Sounds familiar to us I dare say. I think he may have enjoyed OFF BHAH. Thing is he wrote this during his instruction time in France. Oh, boy, it's great to be up flying, practicing stunts, and looking down on the earth spread out beneath you. But there are always the new graves, in some of them fellows you knew; there because of a faulty machine or bad judgment. Well, boy, it may be me next but don't tell anyone what I have told you. I would hate to have my mother hear of it, because I tell her it is the safest branch of the service. My address is on the envelope. Your pal, FRANK

Well as far as cameras go I've seen with and without I/R filter working for people. Also have seen I/R LED's an non-I/R LED's working for some. I think it depends how you setup according to the ambient light or lights in the room that you are set up in with your rig. In my setup I can play in the daytime or at night with lights on in the room. There are many ways of doing this as per the freetrack website and youtube. I don't think that the software has copywrite issues as freetrack was told to remove some statement or other and did so. Compatibilty should not be a problem. I am not an expert and do not actually have it running OFF as of yet. Search the web if you are interested is my best suggestion. -
Now we will find out if the confirmation bureau at HQ has something against me !

That's some claim report there. Let us know if/when confirmed. Stay alive, haha. Insane fun, oh yes. You never know what is going to happen. -

Do you fly Fighters or Bombers in Campaign?
Rickitycrate replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I've done a number of 2 seater campaigns. As of yet not had a bombing mission. Mostly recon. Shot down 6 EIII with my Be2c before going down behind the line. -

Thanks for the report Gous! You have taken things one step further than I have and I am greatly encouraged. I will report my results soon and include pics of my hat. One thing about the hat is, I think you can make you hat and then measure the distances between the lights to input to the program. Rather than conforming to a preset formula. This was a hangup for me for awhile. My camera picks up three I/R light points and no background light. I removed the I/R filter and have placed a penny sized piece of 3.5" floppy disk over the lens. Program responds to the light source with the head image moving. It is now just a matter of soldering my connections. So very close.
