  1. Finally Got in

Another crazy idea from here: have you tried resetting your BIOS values to default? Perhaps something has become o/c'd or out of wack in some way. Resetting the BIOS might set things back to normal. BTW, what is your MB make and model? To reset the BIOS on my computer, I start it up and push the delete key. This takes me to the BIOS settings. There should be an option in one of the menus that allows you to reset the BIOS to factory values or something similar. You might take note of your BIOS settings as they are now before you do this in case it doesn't solve your crashing problem and you want to go back to what you have now. I sure hope you like OFF once you get this sorted out!
  2. I hate to go against the grain here...

FM = Flight Model CoG = Center of Gravity AoA = Angle of Attack DM = Damage Model
  3. Hoo, man. What a day. Just after lunch, I developed a SEVERE pain in my lower right abdomen. I mean SEVERE. Felt like I was being kicked continuously in the bollocks, it was that painful. There was NOTHING I could do to make the pain go away or to even alleviate it slightly. Of course, this was promptly followed by the nausea and vomiting. Right. Time to go to hospital. Arrived at the emergency room. Fortunately, this hospital is new and there were few people waiting. Still, I had to wait about half an hour before they took me into the back. Mind you, I am about doubled over in pain at this point. I tried standing, walking, sitting, lying down--on my back, on my stomach, nothing seemed to help. Finally, got taken back to an emergency bed. More waiting, which felt interminable--especially when they make you wear that gown with your backside exposed to every Tom, Dick, and Harry that comes by. A nurse appears--finally! But no, she just wants my personal and insurance information. #&$%! About all I can do at this point is moan and give one word answers. She leaves, and eventually a doctor comes in--thank God! I'm pretty sure I have a kidney stone, but of course, he has to make sure. Yep, sounds like a kidney stone all right! Then, he tells me what will happen next. I am in such pain that I can barely understand anything he says at all, except one word: morphine. Hooray! But, we have to wait a few more minutes--not hooray. Finally, they give me the drug. WOW! Now I know how people can get addicted to this stuff. A few minutes after putting it in my arm via IV, my whole body starts to tingle and feel warm. My muscles all get very heavy--as if I had been moderately exercising every single muscle in my body for the last 30 minutes. Best of all, the pain in my belly begins to gradually fade away. Huzzah! To conclude my long tale of woe, I am now sitting at home, pumped up on Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen with Oxycodene, some pill for nausea, and Flomax. Some pain is still there, but it is much better than earlier. However, I still have to wait for the stone to pass. I know I am not looking forward to that. Furthermore, because of the nausea, I can't fly BHaH. Arrrgghhh! When will this misery end! Thanks for letting me vent about this. It has been a long and painful day.
  4. O/T Kidney Stones--Not Fun!

Sorry, guys. I didn't mean to turn this thread into a debate about national health care policy. So, please steer the thread back to topic--ME!
  5. SimHQ review of OFF BHaH

Oh, goodie! A surprise! Should I close my eyes real tight?
  6. O/T Kidney Stones--Not Fun!

Good question, WM! Probably because 1) I have never had kidney stones before, so they may never bother me (unlikely, I'm sure), 2) No national health in USA, 3) I have no private health insurance. IOW, if I was loaded with lots of money or had private health insurance out the wazoo, I would have been whisked away for ultrasonic treatment faster than you can say "Pisser!" Good question, WM! 7. Talk about OFF bashing...

They have been doing that for quite awhile, rabu. The thread originally began as an OFF thread, but it was quickly turned into an OFF bashing thread by a couple of RoF fanbois who appear to be jealous that BHaH was released first and is bug-free to boot. They have also become spoiled by the enormously successful GWX mod to Silent Hunter III which is available for free and therefore apparently feel that ALL mods should be made available for free. Incidentally, one of the OFF bashers (but not the main one), is a former RB3D flyer I recognize who used to hang out at the Delphi forums. Don't know why he has a bee up his bonnet.
  8. O/T Kidney Stones--Not Fun!

Well, after being married for awhile, I am again officially single so my diet recently has probably not been as good as it should be. Also, I probably have not been drinking enough (water that is), so I most likely became dehydrated. The good doctor gave me lots of pamphlets to read, so I will learn more soon enough.
  9. Boy am I ever stupid!

There is a way to resurrect a downed pilot, you know! Just be careful to have plenty of garlic and crosses lying around, just to be on the safe side!
  10. Do you fly Fighters or Bombers in Campaign?

Until my recent unpleasantness (kidney stones), I was flying a DFW C.V. out of Schusta 29b. Mostly recon missions, but had one bombing mission in which I destroyed two AA emplacements! Unfortunately, my squad mates buggered off before we arrived over the target. The DFW is a solid bird, but you can't see snot from the pilot's seat. It's a little tricky to land, mainly because it keeps rolling a long way after touch down. Almost clipped some trees at the end of my runway!
  11. Next airplane for OFF?

Personally, I would first like to see more of the two-seaters, from any period of the war. Next, more scouts to help end the problem of your pilot having to retire because his squadron switches to a type not yet available in OFF. Of course, the Morane Parasol would be nice to have in order to go up against the Eindecker. For fun, the Gotha and the Handley-Page. Finally, for late-war fighter-jocks, either the Fokker DVIII or S-S DIV against the Sopwith Snipe would be a blast. In other words, every plane that ever flew a single sortie in WWI! MUH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!!!!!! Sorry, got a little carried away there.
  12. O/T Kidney Stones--Not Fun!

Back from the urologist today. There is good news and there is bad news. The good news is that the doctor said there is an 80% chance that my stone will pass without further intervention. In fact, he said that it may have already passed! The bad news is that he identified two more stones located in my other kidney! There is good news and bad news with that, too! The good news is that they may never dislodge from the kidney. The bad news is that they may continue to grow and grow until they have to be removed via surgery. Lucky, lucky, me. His advice? Wait for six months and see if anything happens! Great. In the meantime, I haven't experienced any significant pain since late Sunday and am off the pain meds, so I anticipate being back over Flander's fields as soon as I get a little time from work. Wish me luck!
  13. O/T Kidney Stones--Not Fun!

Thanks for all the support, everyone. Thanks, Bullethead. I don't think I would compare my one tiny kidney stone with all that you have gone through, but thanks for the support, anyway. As I haven't been shot, stabbed, shelled, or blown up I can't say to what I would compare it too, but I was writhing around pretty seriously for awhile yesterday. I feel much better today, but whose to say when the damn thing will pass? I like the beer buzz idea! I'll give it a try next time.
  14. Iron sight view

I would like to learn if there is a way to do this, too.
  15. O/T Kidney Stones--Not Fun!

Thanks, guys. The pain is much better today, but I feel pretty woozy because of all of the drugs. I'm pretty sure if I tried to fly I would need to use the bucket that Gimpy recommends for first time users of TrackIR!
  16. O/T Kidney Stones--Not Fun!

Yeah, drinking LOTS of cranberry juice. Have to call a urologist tomorrow.
  17. O/T Kidney Stones--Not Fun!

Right now, these meds are making my head feel like a gas bag!
  18. O/T Kidney Stones--Not Fun!

Ha ha, Rickity, the pain of not playing OFF is much greater than the pain of a puny little kidney stone! Man, if your pain is anything like the pain I experienced today, then you are the rock of Gibraltar. Don't see how you can ignore it. On a scale of 1 to 10, I have to say my pain was around an 8 or a 9.
  19. Ahh! - Here is everybody!

Welcome home, Olham! Even if you did fail to mention me in your first post! :cray: :cray:
  20. Leutnant Lazerath,....

Look in this folder for your Pilot#Dossier.txt file: D:\OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\Pilots and change KIA to "In Service"
  21. A new home for OFF!

Hi, Matt! Nice to hear from the boy genius behind the theme music for BHaH. A guy knows he is hooked when he finds himself humming the theme whilst cleaning the toilet!
  22. After switching back to the pilot from the observer, my throttle is reduced to 50% or less!
  23. TH2Go Problem

Try setting your DPI settings to either 96 or 120.
  24. A new home for OFF!

Thank you for providing us OFFers a place to hang our hat after being dumped from SOH, Mk2! I have changed my user name back from "James Taffy Jones" to my old Red Baron nik, "Propwash", albeit a little more Germanic, since those are the crates I primarily fly. I am part German and part Welsh, so I guess it doesn't matter which nik I fly under! See you in the (un)friendly skies over Flander's fields!
