Just to add, the num pad 5 key is for nose up trim. Also, in my experience when I do have my crate trimmed out it becomes a problem in a furball where I have to apply a lot more forward stick to dive. As such I only use the trim between point A and B. Once the fight starts I add some nose down trim back in. Just have to fool with the trim keys to your liking..

Have you tried the nose down trim key - num pad 7 - with Num Lock off to see if it works?

I would think just uninstalling AVG, rebooting and then trying the game again would rule it in or out as a crash reason (which is worth a try at this point).
-
Yup. I remember. I really think you've exhausted every possible "fix" with the exception of a fresh install of XP Pro after having tried new memory, run one GPU installed at a time vs SLI, shut down all background programs, etc. as suggested in your thread in the SOH/OFF3 forum. Not helping with the decision is the fact the crash problem is only occurring in OFF3 while all your other games run OK. Frankly I don't know if I would bother either. I ran into a similar issue trying to install SP3 for XP. Kept getting the Setup Failed error regardless of having tried the various "solutions" including MS's own KB suggested fix. Decided it wasn't worth the hassle to reinstall XP when everything runs on my system just to "update" to SP3.

Yeah, right. I've watched him play my FPS'rs on my rig and .... well, let's just say my twitch factor is about a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being where he is. Youth is a wonderful thing....just too bad it's wasted on young people..

Ripe old age of 69...but still a big kid at heart which my grandson thinks is cool 'cause his granddad plays computer games..

If a thread existed specific to TrackIR questions, setup, issues, etc. for both XP and Vista (I have XP) could someone please point me to it. If not, I think it would be very useful to have one for those who - like me - had/have never heard of TIR. I've read comments in various threads about "white triangles" some have experienced for instance that could be addressed in a separate thread (sticky?) among others for folks who are considering TIR - which I am, but would like a better understanding of the whole product, warts and all from people who use it with OFF.

Naw, I'm too far up the road from there to see it even if it does glow in the dark. But my view isn't any better with the vacant multi acre slabs of concrete where numerous demolished GM plants once stood...

This is exactly the kind of info I posted asking about in another thread...and as was suggested here it would be nice to have a separate topic listing (sticky?) for TIR info that newcomers considering TIR (me for instance) could access to help in the decision process. Afterall it is a $130 investment and thus prudent to be as informed as possible.

Thanks much all for the replies, specifically the blank/white triangle/flashes issue comments. I've visited the TIR website and viewed the demo(s) so I understand the mechanics envolved - but the white anomolies I noted was a concern before plunking down $130 for the product. And from what I gather this issue is the only one of consequence that I could run into. Still on the fence but leaning toward a purchase .. Again, a big thank you for the replies/info.

Fps issues seem to be history

Quite a few mentioned the fps increase (me included) right after the 1.25 update. And like most folks, cranking in higer AA and AF also doesn't seem to impact the frame rate as much as you'd think it would. -
Thanks MK2..

Yup, me too. And where it was showing yesterday I'm now seeing a blank with and x and the words "Group Icon" in a box just below the member status verbiage? I haven't changed any IE security settings, etc. Again, everything was fine yesterday ??

Well....let's put it this way. I haven't survived beyond a 3rd mission yet at 90% realism. Even whimping out and running away with as few as (3) enemy AI I still get shot down. Sigh.... :crutch00:

Ah so. Dunka!

Um...I give up...what's a Floh?

And I appreciate that, believe me. Not to rehash what's past, but I was new to both SOH and OFF 3 as of January and after a few visits and the great response I received from the folks in the OFF 3 forum I responded to the site funding solicitation banner in the OFF 3 forum thinking I was contributing to the OFF 3 forum maintenance. Not so I found out - it was for SOH. When I read of the decision to close the OFF 3 forum I asked for a refund in a PM (to who I thought was the site owner) after only 2 months benefit. The reply I got was short and sweet - "bye bye, thats the way it goes". Not a class act by any measure. So I ask your understanding that I'm still smarting from what happened there. People that were long-timers there were more forgiving of what took place. Suffice to say as a short timer and what I experienced I didn't share in their turn the other cheek response. OK, I feel better now. I be done. -

Well, I can't even log onto any forum at SOH...obviously my account has been terminated after just 2 months since joining.....and they kept my $20 donation. Oh well, I learned a lesson not to jump on the donation wagon right off the bat. Best to see how things go for a few months before making a financial commitment. -
Posted a hello in another thread...didn't see this one. Anyway, I'm here as well. Many thanks to MK2 and the Combatace team for the soft landing after the storm.

I'm here, too! Had no idea this web site existed as was the case with SOH. Many thanks to MK2 and the Combatace folks for the soft landing after the storm.
