Alb skinned with 'Soft Light'
Rooster89 replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
Nobody got that one? Ok, I guess I should explain myself. When I was little, like 3 or 4, I used to watch this painter named Bob Ross on tv, right at naptime. Whenever he was painting and maybe putting some snow on some trees he'd always say "Now they're happy trees". Sorry for killing the thread Widowmaker. lol. -Rooster -
OT in memory of my Father
Rooster89 replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well I cant add much more to whats already been said. Thanks for sharing Widowmaker. Brave brave man he was. I'm glad you talked with your father about his experiences. I never got a chance to ask my Great Grandfather about his time in WW2. All I know is that he was captured by Nazis during the Battle of the Bulge and remained in captivity till the end of the war. They fed him rotten potatoes every day, and after the war he never ate a potatoe again! But Im lucky I did get the chance to talk with my other grandfathers about thier time in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Thanks -Rooster -

What graphics settings are best to my rig?
Rooster89 replied to Luiz Carlos's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thats close to my specs, but im running an E8500. I have all sliders at 5 (except for terrain, thats at 4 with the reccomendation from OBD of not exceeding it) and I get an average of 40 FPS with 20 minimum and 60 maximum FPS. Forgot to post this first time 'round but SD reminded me: its the same as he said: it differs for every machine. Hope I helped. -Rooster -

Thanks for all these tricks OvS. I cant wait to try them out. Maybe we should have a sticky - Skinners Tips and Tricks and we can watch OvS (with an afro of course) paint. "Now they're happy Albatroses" Seriously though, thanks. -Rooster -

Rooster89 replied to Womenfly2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks for the link WF2. The pics of the making of the prop are way cool. That Fairlane looks awesome CJ. Seems you've had alot of cool toys, with that Ford and your bike you posted at SoH. My neighbor is having some cars at his junkyard crushed next month and he said I could just have a '63 Mercury Comet I've had my eye on.I cant wait to get started on that (Im a body and paint tech). I'd like to see some pics of both OvS Nova and your 5.0 when theyre done. It's always nice to see your friends projects, even if you dont know them personally -Rooster -
Yep I've wasted alot of Sundays watching Clint Eastwood movie marathons on AMC, even though I own most of them on DVD. Kelly's Heroes is on once in a while. Two Mules for Sister Sarah and Joe Kidd were on this Sunday actually. Clint Eastwood is definately my favorite actor too CJ. But now we're way off track, lol. -Rooster

The origins of "Flying Circus"?
Rooster89 replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I believe that the reasoning for colorful markings was so that a flight leader or individual flight members could be recognised in the air, not to strike fear into the enemy, but that may be part of it. If youve got 5 Albatroses swirling around in the air in a dogfight, how do you know who's who? Paint them different colors. -Rooster -
when Ol' Rudolf Spaatz bought the farm this afternoon. A simple "scramble" mission and my best DiD pilot is gone. Flieger (should've been a Feldwebel by now, but some paper pusher hates him) Spaatz took of this afternoon with the rest of Jasta 2 to intercept inbound French N.11s. No match for his trusty Albatros D.I. However as he swung around to attack the nearest Nieuport, he found that trees were indeed a worthy opponent. A not so glamorous end to a glorious career. Oh and he had an Iron Cross but for some reason it isnt showing up after he died. -Rooster

Oh I'm not giving up Olham, it was just an unfortunate incident. I try to play all my pilots like my life is really on the line. Always careful and not picking any fights I cant win (when I have a choice). The best dogfight I had in that career was with 4 Sopwith Pups against our 4 Albatros D.Is. The Pups knocked out 2 of my wingmen before we even had a chance to spin around and engage. What a fight! Pups and Albs zooming all over the place. What an explosion those Pups make too! But finally we cleared the skies of them. Otto Gund got 2 and I got 2. He was a really good wingman. He stayed with me 'till the end of that career. -Rooster

Observation Balloons not counted as a "Kill"
Rooster89 replied to RCAF_Dudley's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hey Dudley, you will only be able to file a kill claim for a balloon if you get assigned a mission to attack one. Make sure you get the right one too. I had a mission not too long ago to attack one. I flew through a hailstorm of lead, making 2 passes before it finally burst. When I got back to base I didnt get to file a kill claim. It was the wrong one! -Rooster -

Thanks guys. Especially for that tribute Olham. Maybe you could write the letter home to the next unfortunate fellow's parents? I suppose I'll start off on a two-seater career now.... -Rooster
