  4. Calling all Alb Drivers!

She rolled about as fast as a walrus rolling to sun her other side I got her round but not anything I'd try in combat I'm starting to suspect my install One of the BH&H Segments wouldn't install when I 1st purchased The Devs sent me the missing parts but I've seen weird things happen For Example my greatest killer is friendly Ack-Ack This pilot got hit too ...but he survived Can't remeber being hit by enemy Ack-Ack No wonder, as I watch the angry bursts, they seem to lag behind and below their intended target ...usually where I'm chasing him Maybe time to do a complete re-install Yeah, that thought crossed my mind just after take-off But I thought it's only a test flight I hardly ever do any QC IIRC there's a "QC Pilot never Dies" option there too
  5. Calling all Alb Drivers!

It is kaput! I took her up in Freeflight 10 min ago I warped initially and she climbed over enemy lines Turning for home I thought I'd attempt a barrel roll She only got about 1/4 way up then I had to add a lot of rudder to coax her around Nose dropped, but as I completed the manuever, both lower wings snapped off ...Much too easily I thought Alas, Franz Blucher will survive the war in captivity He was a good pilot 5 1/2 hours and a 38% shooter Thanks for the input!

Glad to help Cappy! Not sure on the exact command keys If Shift+C doesn't work just see what the cfs3 "Open Canaopy" command is

  8. Airco DH5 pics

Dan San Abbott posted this on the DH5 in the Aerodrome Forum: D.H.5 arrived the front in May 1917, No. 24 Squadron were the first equipped followed by No. 32 Sqdn also in May. Then No.41 Sqdn in July. No.68 Sqdn was formed with the D.H.5 and went to France in September 1917. In October 1917 No.64 Sqdn went to France with D.H.5 machines. Dimensions: Span (both) 25'8"; length, 22'; height, 9'1.5"; chord, 4'6"; gap,5'; stagger,(negative) 2'3"; wheel track, 5'; tail span, 8'4.5" Engine: 110 hp LeRhône or 110 hp Clerget. Weights: empty, 1010 lbs; military, 80 lbs; pilot 180 lbs; fuel and oil, 220 lbs; gross weight, 1`492 lbs. Performance: 3000 ft. 110 mph, 10000' , 102 mph, 15000', 89 mph. climb; 6500' 6 min 55sec.; 10000', 12min.25 sec.; 15000', 27 min.30 sec.. The D.H.5 performed poorly above 10000 feet, was at it's best in ground attack or at lower altitudes. The D.H.5 was inferior to the Sopwith Pup. 550 D.H.5 machines were ordered and built and served until late 1917. For example, no. 24 Squadron engaged in 205 combats between 25 May 1917 to 25 December 1917 and could only claim 3 German aircraft as destroyed. That is a fairly bad success rate. The D.H.5 continued in service until it was replaced with the S.E.5a in the above squadrons, which I consider the very best Allied aircraft, without exception. Blue skies, Dan-San Abbott
  9. OT (WW2) The Great Escape

Pretty true statement for Hollywood Often times the Shermans needed to mob the German tanks til one of them hit him in the rear Try my 2nd attempt, the link apperas to be working Here's your "633 Squadron" Mousies http://www.youtube.c...h?v=b2xHydbw8mQ
  10. OT-Gotta get me one of these!

My Dad told me that when he was a kid there was a man up on the hill who had a Civil War Cannon in his front yard Every once in a while he'd get drunk and fire the thing off Eventually, they took the thing away from him Probably broke his heart
  11. Disturbing Kills

Back in P2 I dove down to rescue a wingie with a Camel hot on his tail Executed a perfect stike and drilled the Tommy from his 10 O'Clock Happy with myself, I clicked Pause to memorialize the moment Clicked an external view then statred panning around for the best angle That's when I spotted my wingie again, who had passed out of my line of sight He was fully engulfed in a fireball! ... ...I WAS TOO LATE!!! I dispated the offender but was still totally deflated
  12. Airco DH5 pics

  15. About 10 years go an 18 American lad pulled some pranks in Singapore He got caught damaging some parked cars They sentenced him to being Caned (6 strokes) The American public was up in arms about but I said "let him have it" Sure taught him a lesson he needed to learn and corporal punishment is cheap, which the public deserves The Singapore officials humored the American official pleas by reducing the sentence to 4 strokes ...bahh woosies! A trained martial artist administered the blows with a wooden rod I'm quite sure he'll never pull that stunt again ...at least in Singapore And in this day of the internet, the story still follows him http://en.wikipedia..../Michael_P._Fay
  16. Nieuport N.24 Bis Lewis

The Nupe windshield can bet lowered using the cfs3 "Open Canopy" command IIRC, it's Shift + C
  17. DH5

I think the DH5 model is built but there are no skins yet To be sure, they're beavering away on them as we speak We'll get screenies ... ... ...soon! DH5 is a pleasant surprize in this add-on pack With all the attention on the EV and Nupes, it slipped under the radar
  18. I remember a while back one of the old RB guys gave a tip on how to dive a Nupe Kick Rudder then oppose this using elevator and ailerons The effect results in a skid that allows the Nupe to dive steeply whilst still keeping her wings on Naturally there is a speed reuction but it's effective But I don't think the AI are anywhere near intelligent enought to do this ...but Alb pilots could expect Nupes to follow them down in RL I suppose Diving Spad's can be caught by slower DVII's by following them down ...then pulling lead when the ground forces them to pull level Now a shallower dive can quickly overtake him as his speed deteriorates I know this not a perfect response as the Nupe AI are simply unaffected by G Forces ...or Wind! It's probably deep in the cfs3 code and won't be completely solved til we get our own engine
  19. OT (WW2) The Great Escape

1 on 1, the Tiger was a fearsome opponent Yet there were advantages to the Sherman Speed, Manueverability, and ease of production I saw a documentary where 50k Shermans were built vs 8k Tigers and Panthers Still I'd much rather have the protection and firepower of the latter I sure felt for that Brit Tanker, heroic the way he fought that Tiger Great! I hope it's as well done as Band of Brothers
  20. OT: Touching Video

Touching Video for sure I'm glad they documented his story Our WWII veterans are passing too fast Thanks for posting
  21. Oops!

He He He Life's little embarassing moments!
  22. OT (WW2) The Great Escape

I agree, there's just not the public call for it Maybe some cult group could attempt it Some add-on that would require you to buy the original movie and patch the CGI in Not much chance of that either but it'd be nice I like the 2nd tank engagement in the Op. Market Garden episode too It really highlighted the Tiger's total dominance over the Sherman Gave a sense of how scary it must have been to go up against that tank when your armor is exploding around you The only reaon they were in an elite unit is because they volunteered for it They had to know they were going to be in the thick of it and would suffer heavy casualties I think they were chosen because their unit participated in most (if not all) signifanct engagements in the European Theathre That being said, I'd really like to see a similarly well made series on Guadalcanal Those Marines made the 1st counter-attack against the Japanese even though they were under equiped from the start IIRC they had WWI era Springfield rifles etc, the navy took several beatings off-shore and abandoned them Yet they fought on against some of the most savage frontal assaults ...for 11 months!!! I think there was a 1950's movie, but a well made, updated version would be nice And all traces of that horrible "The Bridge over the River Kwai" should be conviscated and destroyed Portaying an Officer who fought for his troops well being as a colloborator is traitorous
  23. OT (WW2) The Great Escape

I believe the Spanish license built the Me109/He111 They purchased the Daimler Benz engines though When the war ended and their supply ran out, they switched to Merlin engines Ironic though, all the craft in BoB had the same powerplants IIRC, they remained in the Spanish Air Force right into the 60's I'v always hoped they'd update the original film with CGI graphics Yes, it was a great storyline and fine acting ...Taka Taka Taka Taka
  24. Hi Gwyn0, Where do you live? I've found the Ubisoft DVD in Brussels, South Africa, & the Netherlands Even if you must use the CD, you won't regret buying BH&H
