He He He Good un Bullet! -
Quite true books are so much better But that only sets you up for the big let down Read a great book then the movie comes out and you axiously rush to see it ... Bat 21 comes to mind I've always loved Battle of Britain Written by an RAF Pilot and a great flick too

OFF Addon #1 will contain.....

Great news Winder! T'is a sweet little package you've worked up Just a couple questions: Will the AI craft be buffeted too? Might tone down those TGer sniper shots Now wasn't this supposed to be another P4 feature? Slipping a few extra goodies in? Cheers, -
I think you're both right The N.28 certainly have an upper wing weakness, most likely a manufacturing defect But it was a very rare occurance ...only 4-6 times and none of the planes crashed After a certain date (not exactly sure when) they got it sorted out and no more wings broke I'm sure we'll learn to fly her OK

Duce Lewis replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Started out in school for mechanical then automotive engineering When the money ran out I went to work for a small motor manufacturer Being that the product is electro-mechanical I also worked on electronics A elecrical engineer took me under his wing and mentored me in the trade I went back to school nights and got my associate degree in electrical engineering I worked on motors design and testing for the typewriter, disc drive, then finally the automotive industry Ended up a test engineer and laboratory supervisor 2 companies later I was in heaven and set to retire there ...then they outsourced the company to Mexico & China Now I'm a test technician in the space industry It pays well but it's about as boring as watching grass grow But in this economy, I'm staying put -

OBD recently gave us some updates ofr the Spad 13 FM I don't fly the Spad, but forum chatter shows this was a great improvement Thanks OBD! It seems the AI also have the same updates too as they now try to turn fight Unfortunately, the Spad will never be a turn fighter and the change seems to have reduced AI effectiveness Enemy AI tactics are repetitive: 1) They try to turn 2) Just place your nose ahead of the Spad and close easily 3) Either just before or after the 1st burst the Spad AI zooms 4) Climb after him and drill him between the wings Other Spads can't seem to help their AI buddy because they too can't turn anywhere near as tight as German Scouts It's gotten so that I consider Spad's "Easy Meat" and not much competetion I've stopped flying the Marne Region and switched to Flanders to fight Camels & Se5's Before the patch Spad 13's were quite a tough apponent They tended to make passes and extend in very long curves I found by the time I turned after them, they were usually out of effective range Long chases ensued where often another Spad popped up closer & I'd switch targets Also flying straight while chasing made me more vulnerable to his wingmates Had to keep a closer watch on my six I'm not complaining but just some observations I've seen I'm wondering if in the Spad 13's case it would be better to have 2 different FM's Not that the player should have an advantage It just seems that the cfs3 AI code is not capable to handle the tighter turning Spad FM Has anyone else had this experience? What are your thoughts?

Spad 13 FM - Player vs. AI
Duce Lewis replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
That's the ideal AI tactics but I don't see this at any altitude They did extend away well before the patch That's what I'm seeing, then they zoom but it's an easy shot I've seen the Se5 perform lot of vertical Yo-Yo's and the Camel does a nice barrel roll Maybe it's the difference of our PC's, settings, etc. -
OT: Real open cockpit expieriance
Duce Lewis replied to Pappy55's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Ahh, yer bringin back sweet memories Rooster I've always said I'd go back and do it again but ...alas never have yet Just might be better I don't ...probably end up fighting the pilot to see who gets to sit in the rear cockpit Is there some kind of OFF ID Card I can show em??? -
Nice videos, it's always nice to see the underdog win I don't have a vid but there's one I remember well A leopard was sniffing and searching the tall grass Evidently he'd picked up the scent of a small fawn laying motionless Eventually he spotted him and pounced immediately The fawn stood no chance and his head hung back, throat tightly gripped in the Leopards jaws All seemed lost when a lion appeared and charged the leopard Dropping his prey, the leopard faced off with the lion, and they stood eyeball to eyeball for a moment In this short time the little fawn bounded away, seemingly unhurt Hope the youngster had a good life!

Back in the early 80's my Father and I took a Fly-Ride after 1 of the Rhinebeck shows It was a1929 New Standard Biplane and there was another Father and his young son After we strapped our lap belts I looked back at the young lad and he seemed quite worried I was in the right front holding onto the cowling which was close to my neck We flew over the Hudson River near the Newbourgh Bridge The pilot dove slightly then pulled up into a hammerhead (which I thought was a loop) My thought was "I want shoulder straps, looping w/o shoulderstraps is crazy" After we pulled out I peeked at the youngster who was grinning from ear to ear I swear that New Standard still has my fingerprints in it's cowling Great experience! -
Most memorable fight occured during a big dogfight Up high, I spotted a wingie with a Camel on his tail, both turning hard to starboard Dove my DVII steeply, pulled out and came at him out of the apex of his turn, slightly low He pulled up and rolled right over the top of me Hauling back into a 1/2 loop, we grazed by each other Rolled of the top, breaking to port after him He surprized me by rolling up at me Our rolls synchronized 180o out, looking into each others cockpits We continued down at bout a 30o angle locked in a death spiral Still holding momentive from my dive, I slid forward in the spiral Gripping tight, I concentrated on widening my turn to slide back It worked and eventually he broke and I hit him from his 6 I was genuinly sad to see his smoking crate plummet to earth
