That's a Clerget Type 9 or 9B of 110 or 130 HP respectively It powered the Camel, Snipe, 1 1/2 Strutter, Tripehound, and Pup -
Yes, 3 simple rules 1. Watch your tail 2. Don't get target fixated 3. Stay high in the fight ...if he dives, let him go

Ideas for Phase IV (not the ant film)
Duce Lewis replied to Wels's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I like the bomber escort missions because they add another layer of complexity You're not just fighting for yourself but trying to tactically coordinate at the same time How about some fighter coop missions? Balloon Busters could involve multiple Squads 1st to clear the area - fighter sweep 2nd to get the Balloon Or on Strike Missions be assigned to penetrate enemy lines at the Strikers exit point and escort them home Would add complexity, where are they?, how long do we linger?, should we go further and try to help? -

A bombing raid on our neighbouring field
Duce Lewis replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I really like this skin Olham Has a WWIIish feel to her Much like an Me 109 Good show with the Se5's! I just had a good patrol 6 & 6, A&B Flights were looking for some trouble A Flight turned around 1/2 way but with our 6, we still felt strong Spotted 5 Se5's 1 O'Clock low Send the Wingies after the TE Charlies and dove on the leader The Se is really improved lately and puts up a stiff fight Got the leader and 2 more, losing 2 and 1 wingie flew off Then a flight of 4 more Se's showed up Ran for a bit but they're too fast They split, 2 attacking the wingies, 1 after me, and the 4th top cover Called the attack and had a wild fight with 1 then the diving Top Cover guy Ended up getting all 4 with no losses Time for some captured Crown Royal! -

I'd like to see the DM extended to the cocpit area Currently I know I'm being hit mostly by sound and the tracers whizzing by How bout some shatteered instrument panels and the windsscreen busted up Or a MG hit and knocked out I experienced this in P2 I was testing the Se5 to see if a successful 2 Point Landing could be performed Made 3 attempts - Boing, Boing, Boing Pushed the last one too far and nicked 1 of then hangers with the Gear Not knowing this, on my 4th attempt she just slithered along on her belly -

Photo #8 is the cockpit of an Se5, a plan noted for it high speed and ruggedness The plane featured a cowl mounted Lewis gun and a Drum fed Lewis Gun on the upper wing. Two gunsights are shown, the simple Ring Sight and the tubular Aldis Sight. The Se5 was introduced in 1917 and was quite successful, flown by many of Britin's leading Aces -

Yes you do get a great little forum here to augment the sim Ever see a photo of a group of fighter pilots, one with his hands in the air visually describing his encounter with peril? ...much of how I think of this forum -

They are available I beleive Winder said a good one costs about $10k That's why BH&H sales are so important Imagine if Winder was able to get full source code control! But after seeing so-oo many huge issues get solved here ...I'm still hoping -
Yes, yes, we'll probably be too busy to even notice!

Not much for the hard stuff More of a wine ...now lately a beer drinker But Crown Royal and Coke is my #1 Occasionally I'll buy their Special Blend (or somting like that) Comes in a Gold box and is a blend of their finest over several years - extra smoooth Also like Vodka Tonics Usually buy Kettle One, not cuz it's spectacular, but I'd rather spend more money on wine But if I'm in a Martini mood, it's Vox 5 times distilled it's unmatched, and hard to find I drink "Dirty Martini's" - add a splash outta the olive jar On on a hot humid day like we've been having lately - Pina Coloda's Not particular about the Rum, just a cool fun drink

Thanks for the "Heads Up" Rickety Won't be such a shocker this time

I've heard it said that a catastrophe rarely has a single cause We humans try to create a set of safeguards that protect against them It usually takes a perfect storm of many small failures to lead up to a single massive one Often thought Hitler's seduction of Germany was such a perfect storm The Treaty of Versaille The weak Bymar Republic The Brownshirt bullies tolerated to keep the Communists at bay Winning with only 38% of the vote The Rhineland & Sudetanland incidences Economic prosperity then military success and the madman is branded a genius ...probably many more instances of "if only a different path had been taken" Not to oversimplify or excuse individual reponsibilities But he who doesn't know history is doomed to repeat it In my short travels to Germany, the folks made a point to speak to me of their history and regrets Much as you have stated many times here Olham One of the founding principles of America was the elimination of 'debtor's prison' A son is not punished for the sins of his father (common practice back then) Sums up my attitude towards Germany's rebirth as a free nation Contrast this with Japan, where they speak freely of Hiroshima Yet they know little of Pearl Harbor and deny the Rape of Nanking ...and some think they're ready for nuclear weapons to counter N. Korea Just my litle take on events,

What's the magic flying WW1 Aircraft over WW2 aircraft?
Duce Lewis replied to outfctrl's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I cut my sim teeth online in F22 It was exciting but seemed more technologic than flying The engagement distances were quite large and your opponent wasn't much more than a stick figure in a target triangle A WWI bird isn't much more thn Stick, Rudder, and twin guns Takes a lot of knowledge of your and your opponents machines and just pure flying skill And engagement distances ..you can almost reach out and touch him While linear speed is slow, angular turning speeds are very fast due to the extremely small turning radius' Leads to a lotta "Whoa, where'd he come from" moments -
Better if he'd put that bullet in the li'l corporal's coconut instead Great job on the victory Olham (in sim & personal ...however small)

MiniPATCH V1.32e is now available!
Duce Lewis replied to Polovski's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Just updated to 1.32e ...was at 1.28 for a long time Wow! really nice job guys! Had a flight of Se5's show up high as we circuited the field Looked up to see them bracketed by ack-ack DM is sweet too -
Yeah, in the US, liquer laws are controlled by the States (and Municipalities) rather than the Federal Gov't Legal age can be anywhere from 18-21, or not at all if it's a dry region Not sure it's an entirely religeous attitude The pious Pilgrims stopped in Massachusetts instead of continueing to Virginia for 1 reason ...they ran outta beer

Mental note "dont do scrambles"
Duce Lewis replied to Fliegenhund's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Sound advice SirMike Watch your tail fastidiusly No harm in just flying evasively if it's too tense Speed and snap shots are very important Wear them down 1 burst at a time Eventully some will crash or bug out or at least loose performance High speed low take-off will usually gets you to the edge of the fight Fight from the outside in and your tail will be clearer Climbing helps but only where reasonably safe -

Yes, and why don't you try out this great little WWI flight sim 'OFF BHH' - have some fun guys! -
I voted 'No' because I think it's a relevent number Shows you where you are by comparison and progression towards realism That said, many get too hyped up on the number We're the ones that need to make the changes Play where you want and don't worry what others think Only suggestion is to make it 0-100 or 1-12 as Olham suggested
-
I have 2 sticks and peds working now I think you can have as many controllers as USB plugs Suggest you make the switch to gunner and pause Open Controllers and see if the TG is configurable If so, I'd say you're good to go

I've seen them too Low on the deck and concentrated in 1 area Steered well clear of em but felt for the poor chaps down there
