A couple dys go I got into a wild melee with flights joining in from both sides Got separated from my wingies and fought my way out There were still scattered bogies about so I climbed and started looking for my M8's Eventually found 1 of me buddies down low being buzzed by 3 Camels Dove in and we had an intense battle, finally winning the day My compatriot turned out to be Caspar Schmidt, the rightful owner of my skin As an ace from A Flight, he fought very very well Pol, Does A Flight get all the Ace skill level FM's? Seems my B Flight buddies never fought this good Are they Rookie or Veteran at best?

Field transfer mission repeating itself
Duce Lewis replied to Fliegenhund's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
badgerboy, it pops up as massage (purple I think) top center If you have messages turned off, you won't see it -
Sounds like a good tactic Bullethead I pretty much stick to scouts but the Rejoin Command works here too Many times there's a little death dance before the action begins Each side angling for position Hitting Rejoin alot usually keepd the flight with you ...aaand you're right, at the critical moment, A Flight usually fly away

My solution for this is to always attack the lead 2 Seater The others TGer's can't handle a diving attack even if they can fire over their top wings I send the wingies after the Tail End Charlies It's the only attack mode they know so really no other option Their presence keeps the TGer's off me too

My preferred attack is a stuka dive from above Set-up is quite critical as you have to dive at a point ahead of him initially Always continue past and recover below him or the TG will hammer you Closing speeds are fast so a single burst (preferably in his engine) is all you'll get After this, the stalk begins on a parallel course below or climbing abreast of him Once ahead, turn in for a beam attack, aiming ahead of him If you stay slightly low then the TG can't hit you But if it's a Biff, run away!

Field transfer mission repeating itself

badgerboy, that sounds like a great mission and pretty realistic too Once you hit your last waypoint, lining up for the landing, there's a "Goals Completed" message that shows Any action after that doesn't get credited Sometimes if your lose all your wingmen, the GC message will pop up and scoring stops here too -
Hi RNAS, don't worry about the reduced settings When I started P1 I flew superman (invisible plane) & unlimited waepons Eventually it was just too easy and got boring Not quite full DiD yet but I'm having fun & no worries

So you're not out investigating crop circles then?

Field transfer mission repeating itself

I've had the same problem 2 times Fix is as Olham said, hit "Advance Time" but you only need do this 1 time Not sure, but may need to select Manual Time Advance in Workshop for this control to be active HTH, -
Hitler Parody: Over Flanders Fields
Duce Lewis replied to Launchbury's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Interesting indeed, but better make sure the number of compliments/criticisms are exactly the same for each sim ...they will be counting  -

What's your favorite WWI Movie?
Duce Lewis replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Sorry, only looking at WWI Aerial Movies this time Sgt York, Lawrence, & All Quiet are some of my favorites too But if you like Gary Cooper, he's in Wings ...I was surprized when I saw him in one of the Trailers -

What's your favorite WWI Movie?
Duce Lewis replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Creaghorn, what's seems weird to me is that they seemed to realize this when they made the movie As if to counter the evil dark knight, they added the good knight (forget his name) He was the most chivalrus flyer, letting Rawlings go when his gun jammed It would have ben much better if they had shown the same complexity of character on both sides UncleAl, yeah, I liked the ammo scene, the training equipment, crashing the strutter in training, some of the scenes in the canteen But once off the ground... -
Outstanding work Paarma!

What's your favorite WWI Movie?

Here's my list; 1) Dawn Patrol - Only one I think got right in all aspects 2) The Blue Max - Great aerial scenes, not so fond of the ground scenes 3) Hell's Angels - Great fight scene at the end but you have to suffer through a lot of corny screenplay 4) Flyboys - Actually very good on the ground, nice aircraft, but the fight scenes were pretty awful Haven't seen the other 3 but they look worth watching -
Immelman turn and manoevers
Duce Lewis replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Split S is my last ditch evasive manuever It gives you speed and a quick reversal of direction when guns are on you But I really don't like it as it sacrifices too much altitude Immelmanns are great but my DVII needs a little dive speed to make a clean one ...and she's the vertical performer of the lot Wingover is my fav reversal method Sharp climbing turn At the apex, kick rudder into a descending turn -
Reason for screen name....
Duce Lewis replied to DukeIronHand's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Duce is a homonym for deuce or 2 And Lewis is that magnificent WWI MG My Squad mates in Jast 35 look at me kinda funny some times -
One of AI's favorite tactics is to cut their throttle when you're getting close Used to get too focused on firing and Crr-rack I'm dead Changed tactics & now I try to make firing passes instead of following in trail Attack from his 4 O'Clock possition, pass, then pull up & roll in for another pass You can get real close without (much) worries of collision Flight paths are nearly perpendicular so he invariably he slides by at the last moment Have to watch out more for your M8's as they tend to chase the AI outside your FOV as you're zooming up & down

Hood, Boots Blesie (Korean War Ace) wroye a fighter pilots manual that was used by the USAF into the 70's He stated that the reason most pilots had trouble with gunnery was that they didn't take the time to line the shot up It's not enough to get on his 6, take a moment to line up on the Engine/fuel tank area It's also good to get in close You can't miss when the other bird fills your windscreen HTH,

Just a heads up on Patches...
Duce Lewis replied to Winder's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You got a lot farther than I did After hearing about RB3D, I emailed a guy in one of the RB On-Line Squads He detailed where to get RB and all the necessary patches But there seemed to be a lot of compatibility issues and to see all the graphics, you needed an old Voodoo card I hemmed & hawed for quite a while, then 1 day said "Let's do it" Went On-Line, googled RB and found OFF P1 It was pleasant surprize! :whistling: Winder, Great news on the trains! -
Hi wantufly, welcome to OFF Heart of this sim is the Dynamic Campaign 39 flyable aircraft and about 5 gigs of skins The volume of this work is amazing Makes you feel like you're back in 1917

Duce Lewis replied to Winder's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yep, I stumbled upon OFF when I was looking for RB3D downloads I imagine that's about how most of us found it Looks like ROF has been a blessing for OFF They brought a lot of attention to WWI air sims ...and we're just sitting here I say "Rock On", it's a big even pond for both to thrive in
