  1. Question for TIR users...

OK, now I understand better Unfortunately I'm still running TIR 4 with the old software (1/2 the forum now hammers Duce for not updating ...I know ...I know) The software appears to be totally revamped so any advice I'd give there might be erronious But I too had trouble with the fast pan rate at 1st My solution was to reduce the total pan area ...reducing pan rate I now couldn't see behind me Next I setup Chase View from in front of my crate looking aft To check my 6, I just popped into Chase View quickly As I became more accustomed to TIR, I increased the pan rate until I could eventually look all around HTH,
  2. Where is the N.28's gunsight?

I think it depended on design philosophy ...usually controlled by the procurment managers Seems that the Brits and French opted for sights while the Germans made the choice to leave them off That being said, the Entente Sights almost seem to be an afterthought Not that well thought out and sometimes of little use DH2 has an excellent sight setip right on the MG One of this crates few redeeming virtues Se5 has a horrible offset sight or a nice straight on ring sight depending on the model I just had a (very) short Spad 13 career where there's and offset sight arrangement Ring Sight forward with a single rod with a bead for a Rear Sight But since it's offset, I never used it ...probably cuz I've been flying German crates for so long German design philosophy seems totally different I'm thinking (and this is a total guess) they wanted the pilot to focus on the target, not the sights A good pilot becomes one with his aeroplane and KNOWS where the aiming point is This makes sense when you consider the human eye and it's limitations There's no ability to focus close up and long range at the same time OFF is displayed on a 2D Screen so focusing is no problem but sensing that aim point ain't so exact either Pfalz has some sort of pointed radiator cap and that makes aiming quite a bit easier All in all I think a centered Ring Sight is superior But Germany wasn't lacking for high scoring Aces either!
  3. 50, the blue jaggies are usually due to an overtaxed graphics card Reducing the resolution should help too
  4. Question for TIR users...

50, If you have a dark room with no external lights sources to muck things up ...there's little need to recenter It's much like driving a car ...you look into the turn as you're making it Occasional recentering may of course be necessary Some take to TIR immediately, but it took me about 2 weeks to get used to it Often I would get lost and loose my orientation to my plane But after you get experienced you'll fly and fight looking all round very naturally Good Luck M8,
  5. Consider yourself a WWI pilot, flying the crate of your choice We've all seen the limitations and sometimes quarky designs of these aeroplanes we vfly So here's an invitation to express your idea for a Field Modification There are only 2 Rules: 1. Ideas should be limited to what was feasably possible by a resourseful squadron mechanic ex. Adding ailerons to the EIII is not feasable because it's a major design change 2. No duplicate ideas. 1st guy to post it, owns it I'll add a Poll to this thread after the ideas stop coming so we can vote on the best idea Who knows, maybe the Devs will be impressed and add some of our ideas into P4, giving it that personal touch OK, I'll go 1st That Windshield Shroud on the Nieuport 28 is just frustrating It limits vision to an unreasonable extent My idea is to carve holes in the shroud as much as it'll structurally withstand And if that's not good enough, remove it completely!
  6. Where is the N.28's gunsight?

I chased an Se5 in a spiraling dive and he was able to out roll my DVII and break back underneath me several times As I'd remembered the Se5, it didn't have that much roll rate But maybe they've changed it I also ran into a "HOT" S. XIII Driver He outflew me in the vertical, using the Spad's power and speed to it's ultimate Surprisingly, he fought in close with us, not the usually wide climbing circles I eventually shot him down but was aided greatly by 2 DVII's and an Albatross I am definately sure the S. XIII's FM has been upgraded ...so I think I'll give her a shot
  7. Pick your Plane and make your Mod

I'll add my gunsight idea from another thread: Make a 5 in long, 4 in dia, thim wall tube Then place a crosshairs at one end Mount the contraption on the radiator There is no need for a 2nd closer piece to align to the crosshairs If the pilot is offline he'll see an oval shape w/ the sides of the tube now in view Lots of ideas out there still Hint: Headrests, Armament, Holes here and there
  8. save phase 4

Yes, if you select "Pilot Never Dies" your campaign will never end Lot of options in workshop Recommend you experiment and find what works best for you Part of the reason for the different death options is that cfs3 doesn't communicate end of flight data very well I remember the Dev Team had to work some magic just to find out where you landed or crashed ...friendly or hostile side of the front? (they do have this info now) I believe they still don't know the speed or angle that a crashing plane hits the ground Hence this leads to problems determining if a pilot should be considered dead or not The short term work around is to give us options to select how strictly the OFF Manager will make it's death decision DiD is very strict and you may sometimes get frustrated by a rather minor scrape leading to your demise In Death on Die Roll, the OFF Manager guesses whether you have died or not ...sorry, I do not know the odds In effect, the Manager "rolls the dice" to determine if you have died MS has never released the cfs3 code but Rex Hannover has been working hard to decipher it He's the reason the OFF has such great AI in P3 ...Great Job cracking the code Rex! Dev Team has worked miracles eliminating cfs3 problems OFF gets farther away from cfs3 every day I have confidence that they will find a solution for this No problem with the questions Tofke Keep them coming Lot of jovial folks here who are happy to help HTH,
  9. Pick your Plane and make your Mod

Great ideas guys! Keep em coming I think we've only scratched the surface Having fought against each other many times without a True Victor rising from the ashes The 2 great Aces decided on a Spelling Bee to resolve who would control Europe for the next 20 years You guys kill me!
  10. Where is the N.28's gunsight?

I have to disagree on the one gun problem Se5 Viper only has 1 offset cowl gun But with it's excellent sight it is no problem to aim With the upper wing Lewis, it 's a matter of getting the range right I found the standard Se5 with the Aldis and offfset Ring Sight much more difficult I've rarely flown the Spad VII but I found aiming difficult in the S. XIII Offset Sight, Low Upper Wing, and a Windshield Post straight ahead But I've been thinking of a S. XIII or Se5 career in the near future I can feel your pain!
  11. Force Feedback in OFF

Being that cfs3 is a WWII sim there are Trim Controls You can manually adjust each one or just let the sim do it with Auto Trim At take off, I'd lift my tail, get the gunsight on the horizon and hit Auto Trim Crate would fly nice and level with the stick centered I believe it is Ctrl + A Anyways, that was the heart of my problem of climbing after Warp Exit ...but it's a different Stick! EDIT: You might try hitting Auto Trim or Manually Up Elevator to correct holding the Stick back
  12. Force Feedback in OFF

OK, I understand I had a similar problem with my Sidewinder Right after Warp it would climb and no attempts to level would work I finally decided to just loop instead, but the problem would end there I didn't have the extended problem with the stick needing to be held 1/3 back I was able to resolve 99% of the issue by not using Auto Trim As best I can remember, I've only had 1 occurance in the last 6 mon or so HTH,
  13. Where is the N.28's gunsight?

Yeah, Se5 (Viper) has a nice sight I didn't like was the vertically spaced MG's though If I had been a WWI designer, I've used a thin wall tube, 5 in long, with crosshairs at the end Placed on the radiator, if you're not looking straight down it, it'll look oval w/ 2 thick walls 180 Deg apart Non-obstructing and easily lined up
  14. Anybody ever use a Deck keyboard?

My brother recently asked me to help him when he was optioning out his new laptop One of the things I recommended was the backlit keyboard I'm still struggling in the dark on both my laptop and gamer I usually put a light on, well off to the side so it doesn't interfere with TIR Looks like a nice setup appraiserfl!
  15. Force Feedback in OFF

Morris, Are all FFB features weak, Flight Control, MG Fire, Stall Shudder, Crash, etc? My MS Sidewinder II has very poor Flight Control FFB But all other FFB facets are actually very good I hope the Devs will look into this for P4 too
  16. Where is the N.28's gunsight?

IIRC there is a setting in the aircraft file for a convergence point about 150 feet/yards? It's been a long time But anyway firing at the prescribed distance, the rounds should hit where aimed by the iron sight I never much cared for the upper/lower gun configuration when I flew the Se5
  17. The Storks must be an Elite Squad They'll shoot through you, run into you, cut you off ...whatever it takes to poach a victory! I find Average or Good Squads are the most polite while still maintaining enough skill to dogfight effectively I fly Jasta 7, July 24th, and rarely get cut off by my flight mates The Aces of A Flight however are ruthless poachers But I get even by writing nasty things about them in my Claim Reports!
  18. how to save ?

Ahhh the infamous Treeplane Long considered another failed weapon of WWI But I for one never think it was given enough time to work the bugs out ...termites I believe they were
  19. Does the Pilot move his head?

I always fire up my mill and take off immediately (less wingnut problems that way ) I'll try waiting for awhile and looking around with external view
  20. Does the Pilot move his head?

I have never seen it But that screenie certainly looks like it Would be a nice addition
  21. DiD Killboard

Your Mother has a very good son Siggi Wishing you and her all the best
  22. Trackir 5 with XP

Thanks Winder, I think I'm goona give the TIR5 software a try But, as you say, if it doesn't work well I can always roll it back
  23. Wecome aboard TwistedStick! You're gonna love OFF! We have a good li'l cadre on this forum If you have any issues, just drop us a post A lot of knowledgeable folks here who'll be happy to help And of course ...new guy buys the beer Thank you for your service
  24. A Great Fight

I know what you mean Even though it's only virtual it still pulls the emotions Guess that's one of the main reasons we're hooked I feel quite differently when I'm on the other end I had an epic battle with 2 Camels recently where they had me boxed Every emotion said "get those @$%&! blighters" I was quite indifferent to their eventual demise But then again, I was the fox and they were the hound pack!
