Hello Jake. Welcome to our Forum. We're glad you decided to purchase OFF, even if it's off of eBay. Just remember to upgrade it to the latest version available on the website. :) BTW... if you wouldn't mind. When you get it, can you verify that it is an original. Simply by looking at the box, package and DVD. If it all looks ligit, then all is good. If not, please let us know. Thanks, OvS

We tried working with the specular layer and found it made the planes look as if they were made of plastic. We didn't like it. OvS

Nice try Gremlin... I'm a better poker player than that...

I'll have to grab a pic of it from my Alb folder I use for skinning models. But it's all black. The tail has black iron cross on the white box, like the original early 1916 type D.II's had. As well as on the underside of the lower wing. The upper wing just has the white banded Iron Crosses as normal. It looks menacing. :) A really good Austrian ace would be Godwin Brumowski's 'Death Head' red Oeffag D.III. That's a really nice one too. OvS

Choosing Multi-Player crashes CFS3
OvS replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Same here for me, I still use the 'fix' by having an icon point direct to the CFS3MP.exe in OFF's setup. Ask Axe, Stump, or Duck... they can help. Hey... wait... Duck, Stump and Axe... all we need is BBQ and WE'RE EATIN' GOOD!!! Sorry about that.. OvS -
No, I've since moved on to the IM department where I fix PC's. As silly as that sounds, I simply had enough of the commercial part of aviation... it's not avaiation, it's a bus depot. I rarely fixed anything... well there was that EL AL 747-100 we did a strut seal change on the port outer bogey... ever see a 747 tipped on it's side.... WOW! We depressurized the right 2 bogies, so the left outer could be fully extended past the top of the strut rod.... in was nuts. Took us 1.5 days, non-stop. But other than that, it was resetting boxes, circut breakers.. etc. Hence why I am restoring the car... I need to fix things... not reset them. You guys do aviation! That's what it's all about. Just seeing 3 D.III Fuselages sitting there waiting for completion says a lot about what you guys do. It's a lost art! As far as the sounds, whatever you have. If you take the video on the front-right side, just where you were standing when you first started the D.III is perfect. Not too close, and not too far. I can get the sound of the prop, the exhaust, and the motor all in one. Our game is more of a living museum. We try exceptionally hard to get things as close to historic and correct as possible. The sounds are no different. Many of them are the actual recordings of WWI engines. So anything you can record will only add to the historic value of our 'museum'. Thanks again for coming to talk to us. I'll have more questions later... Hey, any chance you guys might do one of those D.III's as Ritter von Tutschek's all black Jasta 12 mount? I love that plane! Matthias, It is a great honor to have you hear on our forum! For years several of us, including myself, have DROOLED over the work that you guys do! Considering I am an A&P mechanic, I have been licensed on 747/767/757 and Concorde and have worked on everything from Boats to planes, to motorcylces to classic American Muscle cars... I am humbled by the perfection you guys produce! Anyhow... sorry about the video comment, truth is, I'd love to have a full recording of the run-up with no interruptions and no one in the background talking. You see, I did many of the sounds of OFF, and I love using the real thing. I'd love to get the real sound of an Mercedes D.III into the game. :) Can we work something out maybe? All I need is a simple recording as you did, standing infront of the plane as anywhere else creates too much wind noise. I envy you in more ways that you can imagine. I am presently restoring a 1966 Chevy Nova Wagon.. but that is NOTHING compared to building and flying these beautiful birds. Thanks for coming by, please stick around. I'm sure we'll have a ton of questions for you. :) All the best, James OvS

Cap'n Sully is the MAN!

Winder, wouldn't upping the AA settings in the Nvidia control panel help this? I get this now and then, but it's only a flash. The correct .DDS file is then displayed. Just to let you know, M$ FSX does this as well, but again, it only looses it for a seccond. OvS

If I could tell you why the editing is important to me... I would. ;) I'm going to research this pilot and try to get him into the game. If he's in already (we have over 413 Huns already), then you will see him in his properly painted D.III. OvS Damn... I should have recognized the markings, it's Austrian.. an Oeffag D.III. :( Really nice looking though! :)

Actually, we don't mind. We need the feedback and the exposure of the faults in OFF. It helps us learn more about you all and what we can do to make OFF better. You see... we are no better than you, never were and never will be... and we listen. So that alone brings the community into our game a little bit closer than just pulling it off the shelf, paying for it, and thinking...man.. there really isn't too much to this game I just paid $50 for!! Personally, I think it's OK to talk about the other sims, and compare them in a fair leveled conversation. As we can all see, we've all matured a lot since leaving SOH, and it's a good way we can learn about what you want out of a WWI sim. All the best, OvS PS.. more planes are coming... Pol is just finishing the saftey wiring on the first addition to the next version of OFF... and it's to be delivered to my paint Flugwerks shop soon.... but I can't tell you what it is.
