  1. Best book?

I have read 2: Saggitarius Rising by Cecil A Lewis. It is a masterpiece. Period. But if you are blood thirsty and you wanna see lots of action, fire, explosions and more, read Winged Warfare by William "Billy" Bishop. As a book SR is 100 times better. But since Bishop has more than 70 victories, you will read about maany dogfights in WW.
  2. Trust me...it wasnt only you dying from laughter while watching this movie....! :rapage:
  3. Thank you forester! Things are looking good indeed! EDIT: Where exactly did you find v2.2.0.267 of Freetrack? Because in the website of freetrack there is a newer one.
  4. They need holidays indeed
  5. **-Attention-Freetrack seems to work with OFF** I have ordrered my LEDs from an online shop and I am expecting them to arrive within this or the next week. However, I wanted to see if freetrack works with OFF BHH before bulding the cap and it seems that it DOES. I bought an MS lifecam vx-1000 from my local PC shop and modded it. I removed the IR filter and glued a piece of magnetic black thingie (from a floppy disk) in front of the external lens. I installed the camera normally. I started freetrack. Of course, the webcam is modded and cant see any visible light. But it is modded that way so that it will see only infrared (and maybe red) radiation. A source of infrared light in your house is a TV remote control. When you press the button of your TV remote control, the controller produces infrared light (fast flashing) through the LED on the front which is received by the TV. When you press different buttons, the IR light flashes with different frequency. Each frequency is connected with a particular action in your TVs memory. (I got a little off topic) Now that we have found an IR emmiter, we can test it and see if freetrack receives it. I put my TV controller in front of the webcam and pressed a button. I saw what I expected to see. A black background and a blue light flashing very fast. On the left of the freetrack window, I could see the head model moving. These were enough for me to test if it works with OFF. Of course, with a TV remote control, it WONT track well, because the light emitted is not continual (it is flashing). When you will make your cap/clip, it will produce continual, bright, good quality infrared light. But if I kept pressing the button and was moving the controller, freetrack was detecting "head motion" so it was enough for my preliminary test! I started TiR attack 1.6 alongside Freetrack and then ran CFS3 stock. I got into the Spitfire and pressed the buttons on the controller to emit light...and...freetrack detected everything and the view was moving normally. The problem was of course that it was not moving very good, because the light emitted was flashy. But the big test of course, was to see if it worked with OFF. I have read posts saying that it doesnt, so I ran a QC in OFF BHH frantically. I got inside the Pup, pressed the button and....miracolo. The view was moving! [\Borat voice on]Great success![borat voice off] Freetrack is showing VERY good signs at the moment. Next week, or this weekend, I will have my 3 point clip ready. Then I will have headtracking with like only 25$. However, if some of you wanna try it, wait for me to build the cap. I will report back as soon as I have it ready. The bottom line is of course, that we are 90% victorious. As there are some poeple here saying that they didnt manage to get OFF and Freetrack working in the first place. Since the TV test was all right though, I dont see any reason why it wont work with the normal set up! We shall see...
  6. Next airplane for OFF?

    Morane Parasol all the way
  7. Visible crew

    It's.........
  8. The results of some well placed wing shots, in addition with patch 1.26
  9. Hey Olham! Welcome back!
  10. Sopwith Pup & Warp since 1.26

!!!!!! Shame on you!! Shame! :whip: Bad dog!! Bad Bad! :Deadhorse:
  11. The sim is waaaaay more realistic now. I have my guns on hard but still, the aircraft go down easier (not much). But YOU go down easier as well. I started a QC as soon as I patched and I didnt have a chance to survive. An Albatros got behind my tail and after some well placed shots my aircraft went completely FUBAR. I started spinning from 10000 feet. At 5000 I recovered, but when I tried to level off, my Se5 spinned again and finally crashed. Do I have to add that the Albatros was shooting me from 100 yards? Do I have to add that the enemy AI did not dive for the deck immidiately? The next QC was against some DrIs. I got lucky and survived the first shots, but then, I realised that my whole flight was dead, and 5 EA were buzzing all around. 30'' were enough for them... The third QC was against a flight of Pfalzes. I managed to get on someone's tail and I aimed for the wing thinking "Let's see what the Devs have really done"...I was shooting all over the plane but tried to focus on the wing. Then I saw a big chunk coming off the bottom wing of the Pfalz, then the whole bottom wing got detached. I watched him go down, cheering. during this time though, a guy got behind my tail and...you know the rest. The two seaters are better as well. The rear gunner is much more killable. From the things I have read and saw about WWI aviation, I can assume that thit sim NOW has the most accurate DM/FM. And of course, you got more spectacular deaths! Some booze for the development team from me..! :drinks_drunk: :drinks_drunk:
  12. Well done Siggi! As soon as my current pilot gets his kills confirmed, I am gonna put myself on the killboard. By the way, are you sorting all the pilots manually or you are using the program from the other guy you were talking about?
  13. Glad you guys too feel like home again. I like this forum better. And its gonna attract some new faces here as well! :rapage:
  14. 1)When I am flying in campaign, and one of the other flight member crashes, does the OFF manager consider (AKA die roll to see what to do) killing him/wounding him? Because today I lost all of the other 4 flight members and none of them got killed. Yesterday my wingman stalled and crashed in front of my eyes and then when I RTBed he was still alive... . Maybe my squadronmates are just lucky...although I remember that in like the second mission I flew in P3, I saw a flight member getting hit by flak and crash. Then when landed, the campaign informed me that he died. 2)I really am a little confused with the Balloon Busting missions when not on the lead. I have played two of them so far. At about 6NM before reaching the target, the flight descends really fast and then they just keep flying around 4NM away from the balloon, often strafing the enemy trenches while looking for trouble with EA. 3)And now something I have noticed since P2. When engaging with EA at high altitudes, the enemy is always diving really really fast towards the ground. Then they level off at 1000 feet. They always dive at full speed vertically then level off. This has happened in every single dogfight I have been in since P2. During the last days of SoH I had made similar reply to a thread saying this, and a couple of other members replied saying that they have noticed the same thing happening. I dont think it is only me experiencing this. Is it fixable?
  15. DiD players.

Hmmm...my thoughts on nationalities are to have this: One list for each nationality, and at the side, one list containing the top four (one of each nationality). Or maybe top eight ( two of each) etc. etc... I dont think it is rather hard to write a code for this type of thing (because I have figured out that you are ready to create a small program to make the killboard) . Also, griphos mentioned something about survivability being more important than kills. That is really a personal opinion and we have to repsect that every single person may have his own point of view in what is more important. So in each list, we are going to put kills, hours flown, missions flown. And you can select to view the killboards in descending order regarding hours or kills or missions. Also, some of us use the TAC all the time, and some of us occasionally, some of us use labels all the way till the mission ends, some of us only in certain occassions. So maybe it would be even better to have this symbolism: DiD/T (this one uses TAC all the time) and DiD/t (this one uses TAC on certain occassions). Because I think it makes a difference.
  16. Click Me 70$ everything included. It took em 9 days+weekends to deliver it to me. You wont regret buying it. It is the best sim. Welcome to OFF fellow Greek!
  17. DiD players.

In my opinion you cant guarantee that everyone is playing DiD. And I am sure that there arent many players here who play strictly DiD following every rule of it. I for instance, even though I play 100% realism (no die roll on death for me anymore) I warp for one second in almost every mission in order to get lined up with my flight. Sometimes they climb fast and I am 1000 feet under them. So I just hit the warp for 1 second, go up and get out. I mainly fly without TAC (I aint flight leader) but I activate it every 5 minutes for about 3-4 seconds. This is like scanning the sky for EA. Of course the range is at 2NM and aircraft only.IMHO The biggest immersion killers in non realism controlled options are TAC in dogfights and the targeting cone. The best you have to do (if you dont have TrackIR) is disable the cone, and of course, never target any airplane because you can follow it anywhere with the " ` " button. Just increase the panning speed (#16 FAQ) and you will see a big difference. It is very difficult to maintain eye contact with a non targeted airplane. But it is very realistic. To sum up, I think that you must make sure that everyone in the killboard are running with 100% realism. This can be done by flight log screenshots. Then, next to the user's name in the killboard you will write his DiD variation. And what is DiD variation? Well some of you play DiD strictly without any rule breaking. Lets say that a user "A" which is DiD pure sends you his kills etc. Then in the list he will be like this--> User A /Kills 10/Hours etc.../.../ *PURE DID*. But a user "B" may fly an altered DiD (but still DiD mainly) and uses lets say, labels. Then it will be--> User B /Kills 11/.../.../../ *DiD variation-labels on*. This is my proposal.
  18. Ok. I have another question. You said that the stuff going on in in CFS3 are not connected to what happens in the campaign. So if a friendly flight member crashed during a campaign mission, he will be still alive when you get back. I saw one post some days ago back at SoH which showed which file you have to access to see your campaign squadron data. This file contains the names of the other squadron members etc. etc. My idea is, to see what has happened to the flight members during missions (if they crash or land behind enemy lines erc.) and then randomly decide by yourself what to do with them and make alterations to this file I mentioned above. Can you tweak this file yourself in order to change the status of a fellow squadron airman? (with status I mean: Missing, or Injured, or KIA etc. etc.)? And where is this file anyway?
  19. Winged Warfare by William (Billy) Bishop. Has anyone read it? Is it good? I have just ordered it from the UK..
  20. Winged Warfare

Yeah!!! Get the heck outta here!! :Deadhorse: :rapage:
  21. Custom cockpit view

Hahahahah! Believe me it is not so rare to see fans of Gousgounis
  22. OFF & TrackIR

What?? Oh please dont tell me that. Did you use all the software to get it working with CFS3?(TIR attack) Did you test it under the pure CFS3 first and then OFF?
