  1. Well worth watching, Jammer. Thanks
  2. Thank you very much for the explanation of the name.
  3. Interesting. Though I fly some for the French and Brits, and rarely for the Americans, I am from the USA. But my ancestors were German, Danish and Swedish. Though the Germans and Danes fought in numerous wars, I feel like I am more closely entwined with the Germans in this sim. I always use the names of my great grandfathers and ancestors earlier than them for my pilots names. Strange, though, I have a picture of my 2nd great Grandfather Joseph Duesterhoeft ( what is the origin of that name?.. someone once told me but I am not sure of its authenticity) and he was a fine looking but very stern looking man. If I can figure out how to post a picture of him (it is in bmp file rather than jpg) I should do it...but then he is in uniform from after the war of 1864 I believe.
  4. Love your writing style and can you tell me how you made this look like it was written many years ago, on a yellowing paper? I've got to do something like this myself for my kids and grandkids in a story I am writing. I twould be much appreciated,. I look forward to reading more. Thanks
  5. 1. Nieuport 17 2. Escradrille 3 3. 13 kills 4. 11 hours
  6. Beware the Strutters

Olham and others, I flew the F2b this morning for the first time. Quite an experience. Utterly amazing, I would say. I am flying with the 48 RFC and I was killed on my second mission. My gunner was very good but when I took over and switched from pilot the the gunner position it all went to hell and a handbasket. Now this is a challenge that I must stay with. Give it a try fellows
  7. Flying without crutches

Going to be al ong time before I get my pilot up there, with this new version/patch. I can't stay alive at all any more. Going to have to do a little more cheating. I have no choice.. Maybe the Track IR that I hope to get in antother month will help...or will I have been spoiled by learning some bad habits?
  8. Added immersion.

When playing SH3 and then Shilent Hunter 4, I used to spend time on the gulf coast at Texas during winter months. I would see a tanker, or supply ship in the distance and watch for it and envision sending the torpedo at just the right time and sink the b------. Talk about a mind going a little strange!. Someone help me when I start seeing an airplane in the air and grab the nearest shotgun or rifle and start pulling the trigger!. I'm not that far along, but don't you look to the sky more often than you used too?
  9. A Close Shave

    A wonderful report, Olham
  10. Americans would generall write it as one word as in northeast or southwest
  11. Great movie.... Bravo. Bravo
  12. Letters Home

May he rest in peace, we know he is resting in honor. His life was too short...as was the great story writing.
  13. Sights

Thanks, Olham. Situational awareness, I am looking forward to the improvement with the purchase of the TrackIr.. my shooting skills I am happy with. It is like hunting waterfowl, one must always lead them in advance and it is dependent on their speed and rate of descent or rise. Your anglish spelling is very good by the way. Excellent in fact
  14. I have the new book called "The Millionaires' Unit" in hardcover that I am finished with. If anyone in the continental US (my aplogies to outside the US) would like it, for the cost of shipping, it is yours for the asking. I think I paid about $20.00 for it recently and though interesting, I am not a big history fan. I checked with media mail and shipping would be $4.00 and that would cover it. Just PM me for addresses and etc and the first person will get it. It was suggested we have a swap area or area where we could announce this sort of thing (after the Trac IR donation- I think by Siggi) but I haven't seen it so I hope that this is okay to psot.
  15. Someone has spoken for this book, so it is no longer available.
  16. I should have added that the book is by Marc Wortman, and it is about "the aristocratic flyboys who fought the great war and invented American air power. For some reason I was unable to "edit" my previous post
  17. Sights

I am wondering what some of you might think your situation awareness has improved and how well your shots are placed with the Trak IR? I still don't have one either and I can see that after many lost pilots, I have improved greatly as far as my kills/sucess is concerned. Rickitycrate, when you get it (or Olham) I believe you just have had yours in recent weeks, how much have your skills improved? Some? Very much? When one has to think about spending $125.00 and more (US) it doesn't come easy of course. I know there is Free track, but I have trouble virtually no skills like that and would not even consider it. Thanks all
  18. I have watched and particpated ( but very little) during the last 7 or 8 months watching this forum and of course the old one and wondered. How in the world do some of you fly each and every day and at the same time respond (intelligently and honorably for the most except one arrogant sob) and still get along in life? I know that many of you are retired...and some of you work ??? jobs and have a family. I am retired..though have a part time job that I work just a few hours a day and I am amazed...no I am ASTOUNDED at your ability to post numerous stories, pics, and above all helping others!! And hell, I can type about 40 words a minute besides! I love following the board but of my time involved in BHAH, I would say that 98% of my time is flying and the other 2% of the time is reading the board. Some of you must lead other lives!!! Just interesting observations
  19. Great photos of the spiral and smoke. Glad you are liking your free trak, Keep 'em coming
  20. And I had run out of ammo and was being chased. I landed at the nearest airfield, with bullets flying all around and ducked into the hanger. I had my "target" so I could watch him and my guys on the ground brought him down in a flurry of shots...at least thats why I think he hit the ground.
  21. OT in memory of my Father

I second that. Very interesting and a service to his country.
  22. Dog Fight contest

    THANK YOU SIR
  23. off dog fight competion trial

I will look forward to joining also, and if there is a possibilty of some read advance notice (knowing that sopmetimes it is difficult) it would help a whole lot. I know that in a couple of virtual airlines I am a member of, we set a particular night (s) for flying. If one misses, then there is another available
  24. Dog Fight contest

  25. Well said, Sir: I never served in Vietnam but was "other" places in 67-71. Thanks for your service and keeping your cool
